Some of you may recall this thread. If you don't, you would do well to read it--because it's now become a guildthing!
This is a game open to anyone from any guild, and is also open to people outside the guilds who wish to participate.
How it works:
This one links to Portal Alpha at C5 on the main island.
This one links to Portal Beta at I5 on the main island.
This one links to Portal Gamma at B2 on the main island.
This one links to Portal Delta at H3 on the main island.
This one links to Portal Epsilon at E6 on the main island.
This one links to Portal Zeta at A3 on Island Epsilon.
All participants will go together on the White Weewoo to the Mare Millie Barcos islands. They will get dropped off together on an island conveniently like a grid, and will spend their days digging in the squares on the grid until one of them finds the necessary treasure of 50,000 shinies. Every square has something hidden in it, be it treasure, a useful item, a deadly trap, or even a pack of adorable fuzzy animals.
Signups are open now, and will remain open until we choose to start the game. People may also join after we begin the game, since we're lax like that. The rules will be explained once I have an idea how many people will be showing up. Post here if you want to join. Tell your companions! Tell your family! Tell your doctor!
You can form teams, but it's not necessary. People can work individually, or they can work together. Also, larger teams don't necessarily have a greater advantage than smaller ones.

Participants choose one action each day. These actions may be posted in the Main St. USA game thread, which may or may not be this thread, whenever the game starts. All actions are various combinations of a) "dig" and b) "move to a new square without digging." From now on, I will refer to option b simply as "move." This will operate on a first-come, first-served basis: So, the first/team to post asking to dig in a square will claim that square, and everyone else is out of luck. People working in teams may choose a representative to post their action for the day.
You may travel up/down/left/right, but not diagonally. So, if you start at A1, you can go directly to A2 or B1, but not to B2. This counts for both digging and moving.
A person working solo can only do so much. However, more people=more digging power, so teams can dig in more squares per day than people working alone. BUT, you are limited by how much you can move each day.
A single person working alone can do one of the following each day:
1) Dig 1 square (this includes moving to the square you will dig on if you are not already on it),
2) Move up to 4 squares without digging at all
3) Nothing (if you really wanna).
Two people working together can do one of the following each day:
1) Dig 2 squares,
2) Dig 1 square and move up to 2 squares,
3) Move up to 4 squares without digging at all
Three people working together can do one of the following each day:
1) Dig 3 squares,
2) Dig 2 squares and move up to 1 square,
3) Dig 1 square and move up to 3 squares,
4) Move up to 4 squares without digging at all
NOTE: Dig/move combinations can be done in any order. So, a team of three people choosing option 2 may choose to do dig-dig-move, dig-move-dig, or move-dig-dig.
NOTE2: Observe that there is no additional benefit to having a team of more than three people. In fact, there is a disadvantage, since more people than that will merely decrease the amount of treasure each team guest gets.
This is a fully qualified and licensed Mysterious Island, having received its degree from the Adventure Regions Training Service. As such, it is rich in treasure, unexplored territories, secrets...and untold dangers.
There are no blank squares. Every time you dig, you will find SOMEthing. But, you will only find something if you dig. Simply moving to or across an unexplored square will not do anything, regardless of what is in it.
Most treasure will be in the form of shinies, but there may be a few other types scattered around the island. Adventurers are free to keep any shinies they find, so long as the big treasure is handed over to the Pirates. Just do as they sing and don't argue, this is a magical deal. It is up to each team individually to choose how to divvy up the treasure. You can try to steal treasure from other people, but remember that this is an island, there's nowhere to run, and you're all leaving on the same ship regardless. (Note: if someone really wants to do this, PM me once the game has started and we'll work out the specifics. I'm not going to think about the gameplay mechanics of stealing unless someone actually wants to do it.)
98% of what happens in the game will be posted in the game thread for all to see. All explorers will be given walkie-talkies in order to keep up with the overall progress of the digging. (Translation: everyone will know in-game what has already been dug up, and will be able to communicate with one another.) However, in a very few special cases, secret information will be PMed directly to the person/people who discovered it. People working in teams may discuss strategy either via PMs or on the game thread.
