Does anyone have any good villain and hero scenes they can recommend to me? Not fights: just moments where the villain is trying to convince the hero of something, or where the villain is just talking with/to the hero. I don't mind too much if there's also some monologging, but I'd prefer it if it's not one of those scenes.
Bonus points if the scene is from a comic, animated show/movie, or even a clip from a movie. I'm working with a more visual medium here, so it helps.

Me! xD I'm still a little bit ahead of you, from the looks of it, but I'm a good 8500 words away from being caught up. And it's probably going to get worse until about Friday, after I get my last essay handed in. But I will finish. Can, and will. So will you. And my friend, our stories will be brilliant, because all around them there'll be the sparkle of a completed task that some people thought impossible. =D Heh, I've just caught up to you, nearly. xD I'm telling myself that it'll all be smooth sailing if I can hit 30k by the 23rd, because that's what I had in the previous year that I won. School is going to make that goal a bit tricky, because I've got two tests coming up (luckily only one that I have to study hard for; the other is about material we've covered in class), but I'm thankful that I haven't been required to do much writing for school this month. Last month was when all my classes were asking for essays; I'm crossing my fingers that the breather lasts till December. Indeed! And it'll be all the more impressive because we managed to get so much done in so short a time during the last weeks. =D (Actually, for some reason all of my successful NaNo years have involved marathons towards the end; I seem to have issues with motivation in the early weeks, which only get resolved when time starts running short and it settles into my brain that I really need to get moving, at which point I start cranking out 5k days. My worst pitfall is losing steam after days like that, but this year I really can't afford to, so tomorrow I'm shooting to hit 20k and beyond despite having written 5,000 words today.) But yes, we are going to find time to write in spite of school-related demands and procrastination, and we will win this year. =D I can't break my streak of winning NaNo on all my odd-numbered attempts. (Well, except to win next year. )

filling in 1,000 words with random rambling about vaguely relevant stuff, yay and also questioning of my timeline, more yay OH WELL it can be fixed later *continues writing* Also, am I the only one who starts randomly picturing my novels as live-action movies? Because I keep thinking how cool it would be, and then I think back and remember I was doing the same thing back in 2008 and I laugh at myself for pretending the novel is actually turning out that good.

I was actually having a similar conversation with my sister last night. xD One thing I know about my writing style is that I actually think in live-action movies. When I'm putting together a scene, I imagine the camera angles, the point of view changes, the soundtrack, everything that doesn't really matter in a novel but would if the scene were being filmed. It's... not an entirely good habit for me, though, because I often lose sight of the things that are important in a written story, like exposition and characters' thoughts and emotions beyond what is visible on their faces. But, um. On the other hand, it's really entertaining to write that way. >.>;

And alas, I still don't have names for my characters... ...EXCEPT ONE. I originally wasn't going to use the name that was otherwise perfect for it, but I decided "screw it" and went ahead to use it anyway. So Princess Rhiana is finally named. (Was originally going to go with 2 n's, but decided against it.) Also, my entire first chapter is exposition. I broke a golden rule of storytelling; "show", don't tell. v.v I still have more to do, but I decided "screw it" and moved on. So maybe NOW the plot will really begin! ^^ XD;

Heh, I actually have an odd habit of not visualizing written scenes as much as most writers and readers apparently do. I tend to think in descriptions as opposed to thinking of pictures and trying to describe them, and I usually don't visualize books in too much detail while reading. Maybe because I didn't grow up watching much television.
Also, this is my favorite NaNo song I've heard thus far (possibly because I love this tune and all its parodies):

man i feel so much like that one nanowrimo song right now
I just passed thirty-thousand and I'm feeling pretty low Need inspiration, but I really just have none...
In other news, does anyone here have a good steampunk fashion sense? XD; Because my MCs are supposed to be getting new clothes to match in better with their magical steampunk surroundings, but I don't really know what these new outfits are going to look like. Which makes it kinda problematic because I'm going to want to describe their outfits in the nearish future, preferably in extremely wordy detail.

LEATHER AND BELTS WITH SHINY BUCKLES And random brass things on them also. And goggles. :3 Don't forget the goggles to protect against the steam. *Listens to Ky ramble* …she also recommends gloves? .__. And something to tie the hair back so as not to get caught in machinery…

To expand: Steampunk is supposed to be an alternate Victorian era, where steam technology has lead to an age of marvels instead of the dreary, mass produced industrial revolution. From that, you can take the following fashion points. 1. If it worked for the Victorian era, it works for you. Mutton leg sleeves, corsets, bustles, you name it. For men, think top coats with hilariously long tails, short hair, long whiskers. Men's fashion hasn't changed that much, but in the past a gentleman always wore a hat outside. 2. It was before the age of mass production, so specialized goods were handmade by artisans. So there was a lot of gilding, etching, and other flourishes that were a point of pride to their makers. Look at the detail shots on this sword for an some ideas: HereOr look at the plating on this parlor pistol: www.ctmuzzleloaders.com/ctml_experiments/parlor_pistol/parlor_pistol.html3. This era in real life was the golden age of French automatons. www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9RZz8QwkQM&feature=player_embedded"The main French makers were Vichy, Roullet & Decamps, Lambert, Phalibois, Renou and Bontems." (Thanks, wikipedia) You can look to them for a great deal of inspiration.

Heh. Thought I'd mention that on the NaNo front page, this showed up in the procrastination station links. Now haven't we all (or at least most of us) been there before? On Pieces of Flair on Facebook, there's actually a flair I found that says 'If you saw my Google History, you'd think I was crazy. Unless you're a writer. Then you'd understand.' I am pretty sure that I have it, so anyone who has friended me on Facebook can go ahead and check my Flair boards for it if they want. (Woah... I just pulled a NaNo-lenthened sentence-part in non-NaNo writing.)

I've always found that having completely baffling Google histories is one of the most amusing things about being a writer. xD I was actually just thinking about this a few minutes ago, when I realised that I was checking facts about carpenter ants (no, I'm not even writing about carpenter ants — it was a one-time metaphor).
...And my Google history from the last few days, when I was trying desperately to figure out the name of the only restraint device that could possibly work in the scene I was writing, is probably nothing short of disturbing.

Most of my recent searches at the mo are song lyrics, but that isn't to say I haven't been searching things like "what age did people die at in medieval days?". XD;
On an unrelated note, I've recently noticed that whenever my characters' voices play through my mind (I dunno if I'm the only one who has a defined voice in my mind for every character), most of them have vague British accents. Except for Jared who sounds like a Scot and that one lady who sounds kind of Australian. I don't know why this is.
