We always need a chat thread! To talk about the waiting, make up plots, etc.

*raises eyebrows* Isn't it kind of early to be discussing NaNo?

It's never too early to discuss NaNo! The people on the site do it year round!

Now that it's officially not too early to be discussing NaNo (I admit I've been sneaking in through an old post to snoop around while no one was here!), what are you guys looking forward to this year? Anyone going for more than 50k words? Anyone dying to start writing today, regardless of whether your novel is planned?

Shooting for 100k again, seeing as I just agreed to race Amnei there. xD Might get higher than that, but 100k is a fun goal. :3
A good portion of why I'm not wanting to start doing NaNo right this instant is 'cause I need to write Inquisition to a decent length before NaNo starts. =D So that'll be a good way to redirect all the writing-energy I have until November arrives.
And I am looking forward to getting to glee over excerpts and conversations with people over NaNo. ^_^
*is kind of hyper right now, somewhat obviously*

My sister is doing NaNo instead, but that doesn't mean I can't still talk here, right?

My sister is doing NaNo instead, but that doesn't mean I can't still talk here, right? As a victim of a NaNo-writer, you'll still get your experience, and personally I think it would be great to hear this point of view as well. ^^ Personally, I'm totally exited. And I'm kind of glad that I had my muse picking up speed throughout the last two months. Of course the stories then were still a far cry from the 50k I'm aiming at again (yeah, nasty real-life will keep interfering, as well as virtual life, so I'll be happy with 50k...), but at least my muse got used to constant writing with a deadline breathing down our necks and I got used to her retaliating by presenting me more details which needed to be written down decently. So although we only have a vague plot-line, I'm more than confident about this one. By the way, does any of you know any details about kidney-insufficiency? I'm currently researching it for the sub-plot of the story, but so far I only could find theoretical things... Therefore it'll be kind of difficult to really describe someone having this problem and needing a transplant.

Ask around the NaNo forums, Chao. Someone is bound to know. xD

I would love to do this - I love the thrill of the writing frenzy (I did this in the past three years and won last year), but I think I'm going to be too busy this year. ;_; I can still hang out here, though, right?

Of course you can! Being busy is no matter. I still managed to get 14k last year despite a seriously busy November. XD It's fun even if you don't make it.

I am so pumped for NaNo this year. <3 My novel's probably a little bit on the cliché side, what with the magical fantasy realm and the obvious romantic interest and fun stuff, but I'm going to have a lot of fun writing it, so who cares. my antagonist is going to be so much fun to write i swear why do i always fall in love with my antagonists
Hopefully this one has a solid enough plot to carry me through to the end of the month without having to cram in the weird stuff like I do every year. XD I don't really know how it's going to end, but hopefully I'll figure it out when I get there.

Therefore it'll be kind of difficult to really describe someone having this problem and needing a transplant. There are a lot of symptoms. Kidneys are very hard working and when they go bad, it affects many different things. The most dramatic and noticable to laymen seem to be anemia, fatigue, frequent need to urinate (esp. at night), and swelling from excess fluids. Anemia is particularly striking in a visual/descriptive sense because of the pallor the sufferer takes on. There are many others you could play with, as well. I am looking at specifically chronic renal disease, if that is not exactly what you are writing then please correct me. I'd actually recommend hunting down a copy of Parasite Eve by Hideaki Sena. Kidney disease and transplant are a major part of the plot, and it's very well researched. It's a good read, too!

I probably won't be participating. I'd really like to win it one year. (and I did try one year.)
I still really enjoy reading through the NaNo forum. :'D

I'm so excited, but at the same time terrified at doing NaNo this year.
If anybody has any tips on preparation and actually writing, then it'd be greatly appreciated. I've been browsing the NaNo forums for how people prepare, but hearing from you guys would really be great. ^^

Chronic Renal disease sounds like the thing I'll be writing about, so thank you very much for the visible symptoms. As for the book, I'm absolutely not into horror genre, so I think I'll pass on that one. I'm so excited, but at the same time terrified at doing NaNo this year. If anybody has any tips on preparation and actually writing, then it'd be greatly appreciated. I've been browsing the NaNo forums for how people prepare, but hearing from you guys would really be great. ^^ My preparation besides a bit of research will mostly be: - Writing a master grocery list, so that I might not have to go grocery shopping more than once a week - tidying up my secondary abode's desk, so that I have enough space to clatter it up again during November without running out of space and having to clear it again throughout the month As for the writing: Find out how your muse works... mine works well with threats and extortion, others like to be bribed, others again prefer to be rushed and mine loves to feel the deadline pending. But overall the key is to write something every day, even if it is only 500 words on horribly busy days, so that you stay tuned. Taking breaks usually result in more than one day of break and that's difficult to catch up then.
