I'm in again. I think this time, I'm just going to pretend I've been there all along. >_>
So... *waits for a response from the Sphinx*

All right, so here's what Hunty and I came up with for this thing. We'll play Blackjack using d13s. 1 is Ace; 2-10 count as their face value; 11, 12, 13 are Jack, Queen, King, respectively. Everyone who's participating will do their entire hand in one post, to keep things from dragging on too long. Where we go from there will depend on the winner. Does this sound good for everyone? Anyone not know how to play Blackjack?

I'm a little rusty.
Start with two cards, and take hits from then on until you stop or bust. Right?
So in this case we would roll two d13s, then RP the hits and stuff ourselves, then bust or win.

Are we going to do anything to avoid too many of the same cards popping up? Or are we just assuming there's multiple decks so we don't have to bother explaining why someone rolled 1 five times?
(Actually... are Aces wild in Blackjack? I forget.)
Also, no one's getting turned to stone until everyone plays, right? I was going to sit out to be backup if you all have a terrible string of bad luck, but...

Yep, that's it exactly. You try to get 21 or as close as you can without going over. Are we going to do anything to avoid too many of the same cards popping up? Or are we just assuming there's multiple decks so we don't have to bother explaining why someone rolled 1 five times? (Actually... are Aces wild in Blackjack? I forget.) Also, no one's getting turned to stone until everyone plays, right? I was going to sit out to be backup if you all have a terrible string of bad luck, but... Aces count as either 1 or 11. 2-10 count as face value, and face cards count as 10. Really, you just need one person to beat the Sphinx. It doesn't matter who. And we're only going to do one hand (unless the Sphinx ties with someone). That means that with lots of people playing all at once, you have much better chances of winning. The Sphinx will pretty much take the part of the dealer, who waits until everyone else has finished taking their cards and then tries to beat all the other players. If the Sphinx beats everyone all at once, then the whole team will get stoned; otherwise, we're good.

Double-posting just because I can.
So this is the start of the game. I figure we'll keep it open for a few days. Anyone can jump in, not just the people who already posted. The Sphinx will draw for itself last, meaning that post will signal the end of the game. Until then, play away.

Question: do we know what each others' cards are? My limited knowledge of blackjack is failing me.

Question: do we know what each others' cards are? My limited knowledge of blackjack is failing me. Yes. Theoretically, we should each take cards one by one so that we can advance knowing what everyone else has done so far, but I think that would make things way too slow. Also, one of the dealer's cards should be face-down so no one can see it, but I kinda for got about that so we'll ignore it.
