I like to fill in memes when I'm bored. They're just for fun, anyway.

I love looking at well-done memes, but they take so long to fill out that I've hardly ever finished one. xD

I find memes very fun, but I don't complete them often because they take me forever. XD It's like drawing a lot of sketchy pictures in one, and I'm a slow artist. >>;
Of cpurse, it depends on what the meme is about... some just don't interest me.

I love doing memes, although I seldom finish them.
I like journal memes, mainly because I don't have to open an art program and draw with a mouse. My mouse makes me angry, and I wish my tablet would work, but since it's fussy, my mouse is my best friend (whether I want it to be or not). I dunno, I like writing things more than drawing them.
I like most art memes, as long as they aren't weird. But, like I said, I hardly do them because I don't have the patience for them (also, I get distracted). So, they sit on my computer as half-finished and abandoned projects. How sad. =(

Depends on the meme. I don't much care for fanart memes, but then I guess I don't really care for most of the things that get fan-meme'd. Some of the other ones can be fun, especially if they're challenging you artistically in some way. But I don't participate in many of them. (I think I've done... 3 total?)

So I was talking about this recently and I feel like copy-and-pasting it here to see what other people think.
One thing I've always found awkward is when people post messages to their watchers saying that it's discouraging when they only get comments on fanart of a certain series and their fanart of other series or original work doesn't get as many comments. A couple of people I watch have done this, and it always makes me feel guilty for only commenting on stuff I know about. On the one hand it's hard for me to blame them for being disappointed about having the popularity of their work dictated by the subject instead of the quality, but on the other I sympathize with the commenters because I often feel awkward saying things about characters I know nothing about. I know most of my watchers are there for my Zelda stuff, and I don't expect them to comment when I post Neopets stuff, nor do I usually expect NTWFers to comment on my Zelda pics. But it doesn't really discourage me because I know they're just picking and choosing what to comment on based on what they know.
Fanart is usually more popular than original art on dA and it's true that this isn't fair, but I feel that letting it discourage you is a bit of a waste. As much as it would be nice if people commented all the time, it's rather unrealistic to expect, especially when some people would be reduced to racking their brains to say something about characters and ideas they're not familiar with. It doesn't mean they don't still appreciate the art.

XD Since only about seven of my 60+ watchers even bother to leave comments at all, I'd say that I'm getting to the point where I'm grateful just to get even ONE comment on a given piece. I have noticed that pictures I draw of certain things (EG, my QuilXCen shipping) tends to get a lot more attention than others (EG, my illustrations for my stories). It is annoying, but I try not to let it discourage me.

Not many people comment on my art, so I appreciate every comment I get. I realize people would rather comment on fanart rather than original art; you can relate to it better, and it's familliar. Original art, not so much.

Not many people comment on my art, so I'm thankful for EVERYTHING. 8DD
It also seems like my fanart gets less attention than everything else. Huh. XD

I usually don't leave comments, but I do look at everthing I get on my messege center.

I'm hoping that my original art will someday surpass this piece in the number of favorites and comments it gets. (I didn't even draw the lineart. I just colored it.) That can only happen when I start updating more, though. XD

So someone leaves a comment on my latest Toy Story related deviation blabbering incoherently about hoping I'm not new to the series and something about not being a true fan. >___> It was just weird and slightly irritating.

...So my dad apparently decided to get a deviantART account and added me to his deviantWATCH? :'D;;
*and thus awkward ensues*

...So my dad apparently decided to get a deviantART account and added me to his deviantWATCH? :'D;; *and thus awkward ensues* My mum has yet to actually create an account of her own, but she found mine ages ago and checks for updates everyday. She also recognises most of my watchers by sight and knows what they draw, too. It's mildly disconcerting. ...She liked the Kiyoshi-in-a-Dress pics, guys.

Fanart is usually more popular than original art on dA and it's true that this isn't fair, but I feel that letting it discourage you is a bit of a waste. Yeah, it's totally a waste. Because you've just got to face facts: your OCs will never be as intensely beloved as, say, Harry Potter. Because if they were, you'd be super-famous and rich and wouldn't be complaining about your Harry Potter fanart getting too many comments. :B If people like your art, they tend to like your art even more if you're drawing something from something that person also happens to like. That's kinda' the way it is, that's even the way it works for famous creators. George Lucas gets a lot of attention in any thing he works on, but gets a whole lot more whenever he's doing something for his Star Wars franchise. My most-faved deviation is this horrid thing I drew more than six years ago. I still get comments and faves on it to this very day, even though I personally can't stand looking at it anymore. XD But I put Tails, Naruto, Shippo (from InuYasha), and Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho) in it, so I have absolutely no hope of topping it in terms of total faves, unless I decided to draw a fanart compilation of Darth Vader, Harry Potter, Twilight-vampire whatshisname, and Justin Beiber.
