I'm not really sure this is a good idea... It might hurt people's feelings if they aren't nominated for a category.

Yeah, i think someone else suggested this a while back, and the majority decided it was better not to be done.

I don't really know what the point of the awards are. For instance: someone wins an award for what? Being nice? People should be nice for the sake of it, not to win an award.
Plus, for the siggys: many people have banners on their siggys. But many didn't personally design the banners. They just put up one that somone else made.
I'll tell you what we should do, if you want to have an awards: it should be something more towards the area of an "Neopian Times-Oscars" thingy. We can vote for Best Series, Best Comic, Best Short Story, things like that.

Someone already said this before, but i just want to say it again;) if you're having catagories, the best catagories would probably be for best comic or best cont. story.besides,i think i heard yesterday that there were over 700 people here...i think there are more than only one deserving person for those catagories.

Meh, We talked about this before, and most think it's not a good idea.
If reviews can be a bone of contention, one can imagine what presenting awards would be. It gets to be a popularity contest. And a political one, at that.
Personally, I eschew the frivolities of trying to be "Miss Popular", and instead concentrate on doing my duties better. I don't want or need an award for doing so. Seeing 700+ members and an active Forum is all the award I need for my efforts.

I'm going to ignore my dare here so I can talk seriously.
First of all, what do we need awards for? It's not all of our forum messages are poetic solioquies novels (or at least not meant to be). Would you give out awards for aily life? Suppose you ever walk up to a teacher and award them a prize for being the "Most Ignorant Teacher of the Year". Or suppose you've given out an award to a family member for washing his or her own laundry. Would you like awards like those?
Sometimes giving out awards for inane or commonly done things not only offends the winner of the awards but the people who didn't win. I'm sure all of your other family members would have liked awards for doing their own laundry. I'm also sure that teacher would have liked to put you in detention for insulting her.
Awards are best given out for people who do things for a reason -- consider getting an award for being a great TV sitcom actor rather than doing your own laundry. Though you do want clean laundry, I doubt you would rather be a launderer when other people think you're a great actor.
Giving out awards for commonly done things can also be demeaning. Is this a forum about having fun or winning awards? Do we want to turn a nice place into a competition for prizes? Well, I don't think so. I certainly wouldn't like a forum like that.
