That outfit looks good.

Now for a question: If you used option 2, would the checkerboard tiles on the floors inside certain buildings become 90-degree rectangular grid patterns? Granted, I can't even remember if I actually saw checkerboard patterned floor-tiles like that in the game... (maybe in Otanis... or at least in the Solar Temple) Exactly. ^^ I don't believe I ever used a checkerboard pattern, but the Solar Temple's floor tiles came pretty close. Ikkin's getting a new outfit in the revamp, and this might be her only outfit in the game. (If not, then this would replace her Vanguard outfit, such that it would no longer look like a painted-over version of her brown tunic.) I'm going to program her entire moveset from the beginning instead of adding stuff later, and because some of her animations will be a little complex, it may be too much of a hassle to modify two Ikkin sprites simultaneously whenever I need to adjust something. That outfit is awesome. It seems to be more in touch with her fox side too.

The idle pose is kind of bugging me with the mysterious updraft that's making her hair and clothes move around. I dunno, it looks weird to me. XD; The outfit looks good, though. :3 And the running animation rocks.

Very nice. Big improvements, especially on the running. Although I agree with PFA. If you're trying to go for a 'windy' effect, things should probably blow some direction other than 'up.' If it's supposed to be because of her mana... Maybe save it for later in the story? Or if it's supposed to be from an up-and-down movement she's doing... I don't see that movement. And even then the 'wind' effect may be a bit much. Just guessing at this point. What type of effect are you going for, though, with the standing pose? Oh yeah, the running animation also suggests a faster speed than I remember... Is she going to run faster in the next version?

The idle pose is kind of bugging me with the mysterious updraft that's making her hair and clothes move around. XDXD I was thinking the same thing. Ikkin herself is completely motionless minus her fingers, but her hair and belt are like *floatmagically*

Thanks guys. ^^ Actually, her old standing animation was the same way, minus the hair movement. xD; I originally had her bob up and down to match the hair movement, but I think it looks a tad too busy: I can think of several fighting game characters who use the "stand still but hair flows magically" stance - Kula from King of Fighters for example - so it wouldn't be unprecedented.

I dunno, the current one seems a little too busy for me. XD; It seems there's too much random stuff going on at once, and I can see that getting really distracting (particularly if all the NPCs are going to be doing that too). Personally, I think it would be better if it were just a simple animation, like breathing motions, the occasional tail-swishing... maybe blinking? But I dunno.

It does look a little busy to me, too. xD Although the new outfit is very nice!...even if it does look a tad like a ninja tunic. >> xD

See? xD I'll just stick with the first one until I can figure out a new direction for the "wind" to blow in. Besides, it looks less busy in the game since the animation is slower.
Anyway, after talking to some NTWFers on Skype, I got an idea on how to expand on the combat system from the old version. Maybe at some point in the game, the player can learn "styles" that give Ikkin new movesets with differing strengths and weaknesses. For example, she could learn a style that focuses on quick slashes and high jumps, or a style that lets her hit hard and heavy at the cost of speed, or a style that lets her summon and command Sev at the expense of her own combat effectiveness. This being case, the player could switch styles on the fly, giving them a larger number of combo attacks they can try. :3
Such a system would allow me to increase the number of possible Sword Skills without increasing the number of button combinations, so I wouldn't have to resort to long strings of Street Fighter-style button combos. (Though I could potentially make that an alternative option for skilled players who want to instantly use moves from particular styles.)

I also don't mind the bobbing in general. Well... In fighting games, the overall feeling is supposed to be sort of tense and on-edge. Similarly, the characters would probably be on-edge, which would explain why there might be a magic aura causing wind; they'd have to stay constantly ready to fight, so their aura might be flaring somewhat. That said, as it is, she also looks kind of on-edge - particularly with her tail seeming to whip in the way it does - which might work for battles, but not so much for an idle animation. That said, though, the movements probably work well transferred into her 'standing at the ready with her sword out' pose, at least during boss-battles. For the casual post, she could probably do with a smaller wag most of the time, maybe with the occasional flick.

I meant that the non-bobbing one looks busy to me, actually. XD;; The bobbing one looks exaggerated, while the non-bobbing one just looks like there's this mysterious updraft blowing her clothes around. As I said, I think it would look better with less movement in general. That's just me, though.

I agree with PFA and Omni, I like the bobbing one better. It looks more like she's ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.

I actually also think the bobbing looks too busy. ^^; Maybe the wind in her hair is a bit much (what if she's in a cave?), but the bobbing makes her look like she had too much coffee that morning, or something. xD

I like the bobbing one. It makes more sense for her clothes and hair to be moving when she herself is moving.
