I need to get that many words by tomorrow. That is a good way to scare yourself into a coma. It might ease your burden a bit to divide the amount you're behind by the days left, and add it to your daily quota for every day you have left in the month. That way you have a little extra to do each day, but not a massive chunk of impossible looming over your head.

I'm having fun with Write or Die. I'm so glad I can pause it. I'm using my one pause now. I should have 10K in about 117 H 08 S. <3 If I keep on doing WOD, I'll have 30 K by Thursday! Teow: I won't scare myself into a coma, silly! EDIT: I can NOT do WOD.

I think I need to start my story over. This plot is just not what I want to spend a month working on. I understand the concept of letting plot threads develop on their own, but I feel like I'm wasting time on this.
New outline coming up. Maybe I can get writing done when I'm in Norway.

Just asking: Is it only me or are any of you so crazy, too, as to look up even small things such as possible Diners in a city your story takes place? (given that your story takes place in an existing city)

(given that your story takes place in an existing city) I am certainly. I spent tonnes of time Googling German breweries just to make srue that the kind of beer my MC likes is authentic. And the bars of Menin that existed in 1914/1915...oh god.

Good to know that I am not the only one. German Beer during WW1? I never thought of that, I would simply have decided whether the guy was preferring Alt, Dunkel, Weizen or Pils and that's it. Local brew and there we go. After all, most large cities here had given out more brewing licenses than baking licenses. *g*

I'm terrified that it's obvious I've never taken a formal French class in my life, so I'm spending hours at a time looking up the proper usage of Québecois expressions. xD; I need to stop.
Edit: And I'm extremely amused by the Your Latest Sentence thread right now, because I keep getting a banner ad that says, Being Consumed By A Desire For Revenge Or Punishment? Feel relief in just 45 minutes... take the free forgiveness mini-course now!"
...I mean, what on earth do they think we're writing about? xD

SO what's the weirdest thing your characters have done so far?
Mine broke out into song. The Spongebob Squarepants theme song, to be exact it made sense in context

The Spongebob Squarepants theme song, to be exact it made sense in context Well, there was the one time when I wanted to write exactly four words (so I could have 12,345 words), so I ended up with Larissa randomly shouting "I AM... LARISSA JENIVER!" out of nowhere. XD Next to that would probably be the random 'shipperish implications that keep coming out without my intending for them to be there at all. As for looking up random facts for your novel, well... I think the fact that my list of recent Google searches includes things like how weight is measured in Japan or why the sky is blue says a lot.

Well, considering all of my characters are pretty crazy (which makes sense, because my story is a comedy/parody of sorts), my characters have done lots of weird things, the most recent of which was breaking the 4th wall and complaining to me that I'm drawing out their scenes and dialog too much.
One character is also currently coated in radioactive goo, and another is going through a pitch black tunnel, relying completely on a camera with night vision to find her way.

Eh, actually, any weirdness with my characters so far has been quite deliberate and planned. xD Although they have kind of taken it into their heads that they are allowed to swear vividly every third or fourth word, which is getting a bit obnoxious.
The story itself is the crazy thing. It's ten thousand words of pretty much straight dialogue, my protagonist has done absolutely nothing so far except wander around and ask questions, and my most overused word so far is "explained". D:

My characters haven't done much insane stuff, but they are going in bizarre directions. I completely rewrote my mentor character to be a little girl...
Then Marcus hands her the book, and she goes back to acting all wise.

a bunch of my characters were at a party and found a 7 foot pink flamingo, took it to Manhattan, and ran through the streets with it. Then one of the only boys in the series kicked the flamingo into the street and that's when the two girls that were with him were taken off the street and the boy was all,"HELP HELP POLICE MY GIRLFRIEND AND HER FRIEND ARE BEING ABDUCTED BY A 50 YEAR OLD HEEEEEEEEEEELLP."
