I agree about the history unfolding through RP, it gives us more freedom. Similarly, the map should have areas that are left fairly vague.
An RP would have to be post-GW, yes. And preferably not too soon after GW ends, as well. xD As for whether we plan it, I think it's best to have an idea of some sort of starting direction, but no further than that. Basically because subplots can crop up in the middle of the RP that clash with whatever main plan we've decided on, and if we try too hard to stick to any one plan we end up with gaping plot holes. And also because it's just more fun to make it up as we go.
Also on the subject of RPs, since this RP would involve us integrating into the world at large, it might make sense to do it with another guild. Thoughts?

I'd personally love to do an RP with another guild, but I think first we should have a Brassport-only type thing, because we really do need to develop a lot of cohesion (heck on an OOC level too) to stick around.
As for the map, these things are really hard to do, and I'm re-learning GIMP. But I've got the base down, I just need to put in the other important buildings, some labels, some rollover effects, and most importantly I need to obliterate everything outside the city limits (yeah, I made it pre-Event at first)

Well Gil, and possibly a crew of Brassportians, are supposed to help rebuild the Merc base. I also plan on having my ninja NPC, Toshiro, join Gil as a assistant after the GW.

Alright, well before one of us wastes far too much time on this map-thing... Scar and I should collaborate to make this a whole lot easier.

OR do two separate maps, and drop them on each other to see what matches up XD

Random plan. I'm really thinking of changing Gil's hair style. I didn't like how it came out, but I was sick of trying to draw it XD I also had to return my friends drawing tablet. However I don't have a clue how I want it changed >.> I also need to think of his assistants XD

Greetings Steampunkers. I'm here to see if there will be any interest in a Mage/Steampunk roleplay in which we can maybe establish some relations, have a conflict and come out of it for the better.
And in order for that to happen, we'll need somebody to step up as Steampunk leader so that I can organise things with them and make sure the roleplay doesn't die. But first things first. Any interest? ^_^

Conflict with mage would certainly be possible, since we have the whole hating witches thing. It'd probably have to be something like the leadership and some of the punks think treaty with the mages would be a good idea, while a small, possibly older group of rebels dislike it and attempt to stop it.

I still don't get how that Witch Hunt thing started >.> Especially with us having Alchemists...
But yeah, a RP sounds good.

Witches are all ceremony and stuff that people can't understand so they have bad connotations, while alchemists have science that uses magic somewhat quietly, and it looks like something that people have actually developed and worked out scientifically, giving it good connotations. That's my interpretation, anyway.

Witches are all ceremony and stuff that people can't understand so they have bad connotations, while alchemists have science that uses magic somewhat quietly, and it looks like something that people have actually developed and worked out scientifically, giving it good connotations. That's my interpretation, anyway. In actuality, witches are no more then a scapegoat. The original "witch" was a person within a tribe of Africa that unknowingly curses/causes another member of the tribe bad luck by thinking a ill thought for that person. Later the name (can't remember original name) would be used to label all sorts of antisocial people around the world in different cultures. The whole idea of witches causing mischief on purpose, creating spells, potions, etc are in fact Sorcerers (people who use magic for malevolent purposes). Then the church and later Hollywood and media would create a stereotype for witches and other magic users ^_^ I took a anthropology class that was dedicated with Magic, Supernatural, Witches, etc. all around the world XD It's one of the few classes I payed a decent amount of attention in. --- Anyways... Yeah, I know the differences between Alchemists and "Witches." In fact Alchemists were once employed by the church for a short while... That didn't end well XD In this world (or in fact Brassport's previous world) I would think that Alchemists are more open to the people. The idea of the mages however would seem strange since they obey no real law to the magic they do. Where as the Alchemists must obey a scientific law of sorts to do theirs. -- I like the idea of two sides of Brassport supporting and not supporting the Mages. They have a number of reasons to go to either side. The no law (at least to them) in their magic. The fact mages attacked Brassport during GWIII. Just the pure fact they are outsiders. These are just a few reasons to not like or trust them. Possible ways to further their Alchemic studies. Wishing to make friends with someone similar to themselves (kind of) in the new world. A way to mix their magic into their technology. These are a few reasons to trust them. So yeah. A RP that involves the two sides would be pretty interesting. And counting that I don't have a Mage persona (I once did, a long long time ago), I won't have to worry about both sides of the RP as much ^_^ Edit: Oh, and we might want to make the Steampunk badges official some time... The gears should still be in the older Steampunk thread.
