Rusted wins my approval too. Or rather Oscar's approval. Gives him a more rugged, manly, well-travelled look when he wears it :3
Also note that the Invention Convention event is still ongoing. I'm coming up with something culinary and I'm looking forward to what other steampunkers will come up with ^_^

Sorry if this is the wrong place for it, but to get activity going, you could always host a crafting competition. :V

*waves* I'd like to join! My personas: Lady Gladys Gifford Name: Lady Gladys Gifford / The Honourable Gladys Gifford
Age: 22
Appearance: Gladys is 5'10" and has a slender figure. She has light grey eyes and ginger hair which, if left untied, falls to her knees. She commonly ties her hair in an elaborate fan-like do (not too dissimilar to the hats that ladies in the palace wore during the Qing Period); when she does, her hair falls only to her elbows.
Main outfit: Gladys is highly fashion-conscious, and she does wear more unusual outfits. Her regular outfit consists of a dark brown strapless floor-length dress, and her skirt is heavily layered. Over her dress, she wears a black satin bolero with gold stitching and buttons. On her arms are a pair of matching black sleeves that widen at her elbows.
Secondary outfit: Gladys sometimes wears a sleeveless green velvet dress that is held up by black straps. The empire waistline dress is also an open front dress, although it only splits from the waistline downwards; stitched underneath is an unconventionally loose dark green petticoat. Gladys also ties a long strip of yellow velvet belt across the empire waistline; she does it up in a bow at the back, and lets the rest trail. The dress' design is intended to allow Gladys to do split jumps and kicks without ripping or tripping over her garment.
History: Gladys has lived in Brassport for her entire life. She is the daughter and youngest child of Lord and Lady Gifford. She has an older brother of three years, Lord Lucas Gifford. Their titles are hereditery, and her father is a Duke.
Gladys has had a fairly peaceful life, although recently her parents have been rather keen to find a husband for her. Despite the fact that she has been made to see dozens of eligible batchelors, she has turned them all down. She doesn't regret her decisions though; she prefers to be free and take things at her own pace. When her parents are not busy trying to make her marry, she can be commonly seen socialising with other lords and ladies, although she does also pay unseeming visits to other areas of Brassport.
Personality: She has quite a tough personality, which can be taken the wrong way to be hot-headed, stubborn and inflexible. However it can be taken a different way, and can be seen as fearless, independant, and firm at sticking with decisions. She is also quite sharp, witty and intelligent, and is a considerably quick thinker. She can come across as amoral at times, but she never conducts actions irrationally, and she is prepared to go that extra step to do whatever is necessary.
Weapons: Usually unseeming items like a parasol. Otherwise, Gladys fights bare handed.
Abilities: Able to temporarily trap elements into spheres, which can be used for combat or practical usages. The longest the spheres can last untouched is a minute.
I'll get Ethomie (pronounced Eh-ho-me) done soon

So...is there any standard protocol for developing my persona here? Because I have some ideas and such, but I'm not sure if I just roll with them, or what?

So...is there any standard protocol for developing my persona here? Because I have some ideas and such, but I'm not sure if I just roll with them, or what? Well, the Guildverse is huge and has a lot of history, so understanding a little bit of that is useful in creating a character that will mesh well with the society. Technology levels are also a subject of concern, although there are no rules set in stone, just general guidelines. Lemme help you out here. So, the Guildverse has (or used to have) 7 guilds - Mages, Knights, Ninjas, Pirates, Spacefleet, Mercenaries and Steampunk. Each has their own guild base and set of lore/customs. More recently, the Mages of Mage Manor and the Knights of Kestrel Castle have merged together to create a single "fantasy" guild, whose base is now known as the Kingdom. The Mercenaries have sort of fallen off the radar (there's only one active merc member that I know of). The Pirates on their ship, the White Weewoo have an alliance with Spacefleet who ... live in a space station complex thingy. The mages/knights also have an alliance with the Steampunk guild and the Ninjas will soon merge with them, too. Basically, the entire guildverse is downsizing. xD The steampunk guild is one of the least "organized" guilds in that membership is pretty diverse. The city of Brassport once existed in a different dimension, but during the last Guild Wars RP, it was pulled from its own universe into the guildverse. With no way to send the entire city back to where it came from, the cityfolk have simply put down roots where they are as best they could. In other words, if you can imagine a role in a Steampunk city, you can make a character to fit it. Technology level is, as I said, a source of debate, but the general guidelines are that the guildverse is High Fantasy, and given that we have knights who trail about on horses, the technology level has to be somewhat nerfed to match. The exception is Spacefleet which is still considered High Fantasy given that a) their technology level is so extremely advanced that no one but a 'Fleeter could use it, and b) they're not very good at sharing, all secretive and such. =P Airships are established canon, as are mechanical pole-arms, whips and minor gadgets of that type. Any high-velocity weapon i.e. faster than an arrow probably won't fly and any overpowered tech like computer chips, too. Probably you're looking at 1800's technology without fast transport. I think that's all that's vitally important. Hope I've helped. ^^

You have indeed. Hows this? A young man of around 19 living in an airship that he ties down to whatever the highest building is wherever he is. Even though he tends to stay in Brassport, he has been known to venture out now and again. He keeps on him at all times his personally invented Boots of Awesome and his Nice Hat. Hey, we said he could make things, not name them creatively. Anyways, his Nice Hat is a black, miltary style flatcap(see avatar) with many gadgets tucked within it. Basically a Swiss Army Hat. His Boots of Awesome are basically jet boots powered by steam. Sure, not very original, but hey. He likes them.
