((So...shall we begin?))
Near Village was peaceful and serene, that is, if you didn't count the dragons always lurking about, watching for people who showed signs of rebellion and resistance. Every few weeks, they would find and kill a suspect, either because they were scared that one voice would arouse others, or because they just wanted to scare everyone in Verenia.
Saria thought this was too much. Born underneath the dragons' tyranny, she saw the suffering that she and her people often had to go through just to please them and keep themselves alive for the next chapter in their oppressed lives. She glanced at the innkeeper, who was her father, and asked, "Father, I'm growing up. I'm no longer your little girl. Perhaps now I can at least try to free our town from the dragons."
"You are crazy, child," said the innkeeper. He had a huge scar on his face, the remnant of his encounter with the Fire Dragon. "You cannot beat them alone. And it's best to keep your mouth shut, or else they'll keep it shut for you."
"Father, we cannot stand underneath them for long!" interjected Saria. "Please, I didn't take these magic lessons for nothing!"
"I only gave you them so that you would be occupied and would not think of such follies."
Saria sighed, resting her chin on her hand and sinking into the huge armchair in the lobby of the Near Village Inn.

Vedra has endured long, hard years archery and swordsman ship. It showed in her face, the gentle dents and wrinkles, the dry skin and blisters that forever covered her rough hands. No cream was good enough for them - they would always be like that, the scars never healing from the numerous accidents and fights that she had encountered over the years.
The dragons...they had been her motivation. No one could be through the journeys that Vedra has taken to make sure she was tough enough, to make sure she was strong enough, focused and calm. She had perpared herself for the worst, and wasn't afraid of it if it came.
Currently, she was putting cow hide gloves on to keep her hands covered and pulled on her boots. Today was bright, but not too hot, a good day to practise. A little voice in her brain seemed to awaken. Oh come on...You can't do this everyday...perhaps a drink? She smiled. Perhaps she should.
Walking out of her house she looked up at the clouds and rounded the corner to the local inn. She preffered it to pubs, the busy, questionning drunks. She stepped through the door and smiled brightly. Not a single person knew Vedra: Her mother and father no longer with her, she lived alone.

Cadmus looked, sitting at a table at the end of the INN, hidden in shadow. He raised himself, walking in the dirrection of the innkeeper and his daughter.
"What a cute wish... Only a kid would be ignorant enough to have once such as that."
He smirked under his his cloak, before throwing some gold pieces on the desk.
"Strongest thing you have. NOW."

Vedra looked at the man who had come up to the bar, knowing she was unnoticed. She licked her lips and moved up to the bar herself, her hands clutching the gold pieces she had just pulled from her poket. She gentle but firmly pushed him aside and stood in front, a smirk playing on her lips.
"A beer please..." She looked round to the guy. "Ladies first, and all?"
It took a second for her to remember the conversation she had heard. She frowned. "The 'kid', as you call her, isn't ignorant. I'm a grown woman, and I have trained for years to fight these dragons. Unfortauntly, not one person hasn't got a weakness, meaning I'd need allies." She turn to face him. "And allies, I don't have."

"BWAHAHAHA!!! OOOHHHHAHAHAH!!" He started laughing, holding his stomach. "STOP THAT! YOU'RE KILLING ME! HAHA!!!" He passed his hand on his face to remove some tears.. before falling on a chair, his head low.
"I too, have been trained... From birth, to do something... I did it faithfully, I was the best... But it didn't stop it from destroying me... If they're out of my leagues... They're out of yours... Umi......"

A scorn found its' way onto Vedras beautiful features. She bit her lip, blocking out the many harsh remarks she could think off. "You don't understand. I can fight, I mean really fight. I'm ready for thyem. Prepared." She sta down besides him.
"Anyway...is this to do with me being a girl? Does that mean I can't fight like you? Because, boy, I can do better!"

Strenn drained his mug of beer as he eyed the two alledged fighters arguing.
"Pfft, those two don't look so tough. I bet I could best them with my blade. Still it's not my fight, so why bother?" he thought.
"Innkeeper, how 'bout another mug of this?"

Saria's father turned around from where he had been leaning on the counter, casually speaking with his daughter. He glanced at the three characters who had requested drinks - two of whom looked as though they were on the verge of a fight.
As he filled their orders, collecting the money and pocketing it, he sighed and told Vedra and Cadmus, "Please, no brawls. If the dragons were to hear you thrashing about, you will invite nothing but trouble." He walked away to respond to a ringing bell, the signal of someone in the quarters.
That left Saria staring at the two, and at the calm man who seemed to be eyeing them, for some strange reason. She glanced down at her shoes and sank deeper into the armchair in which she had been lounging about for the past few minutes, testing a few tiny gusts of breeze between her fingers and striking up a conversation with her dad.

Vedra shot a look at the innkeeper, and relectuantly held back the acid words she was about to spit at her opposition. She flicked back her white blonde hair, currently in a tight plait, in his direction. It hit him in the face with a fierce whack and she smiled sweetly. "Sorry...did I hurt you? My apologies!" She rolled her eyes and swung back lightly on her chair.
She looked up at the two viewing this arguement. "S'cuse me, but this isn't a viewing booth, you know!" She sighed and got up, downing the drink in a single sip, before licking her lips and hitting more coins onto the table. "Whiskey. Single Malt, please. Only the best!"

Strenn rolled his eyes and took a swig of his drink. Strenn looked around; maybe he could find some work in this place.

The innkeeper was swift - he came back instantly with Vedra's order after pocketing the coins and zooming off to the inn's pantry. He stopped over beside his daughter.
"Look, Saria, it would do you good to make some friends. Why not talk to these fine young people? Magic and your mahogany wand can't be your only companions, you know."
Saria shrugged, twiddling the long skinny stick she held in her fingers. "Magic doesn't argue. Magic makes me happy. Magic doesn't make fun of how I talk so softly or how it sometimes takes me a while to strike up a conversation."
Her father sighed. "Your friends can still do things that magic cannot do. What they are, you will find out for yourself." He nodded and shuffled away to deal with one of the rowdy drinkers spilling some mead onto the floor.

Vedra sat back down, sipping at her drink this time. "Listen, you'll be getting trouble from me if you don't shut up." She spat. Sliding down her chair she closed her eyes, muttering to herself. "Stupid man" was about all that could be made out of the words.
