Birthday Twin Powerz Meetup - Day Five
Scar here with the next update. We woke up early because we wanted to hitch a ride back into the city with Sarn' stepmum so we could gather up some clothes for the long weekend ahead. You see, we were going out into the country to Sarn's parents' place to have a barbeque to celebrate Sarn's birthday! We were both dreading and excited for it because a lot of relatives were going to be there ^^; Anyway, Sarn's step mum dropped us off and told us we only had a short amount of time to pack so naturally we rushed around and got everything (as well as Baxter) packed up and ready in record time ... only to realize we probably had another couple of hours -_-
So we cuddled, something we couldn't do while at Sarn's father's house, and generally lazed around until Sarn's step mum arrived to pick us back up. There were unhappies because of some quibble she had with Sarn so I took Sarn aside when we stopped over at a supermarket for a cuddle to calm down.
Anyways, we arrived back in Lincoln and seeing as we had a few more hours before the road trip to the party we isolated ourselves and voice chatted with a frond on Skype :3 Unfortunately we had to abandon the chat and leave soon after D:
It was an uneventful car ride, probably because of earlier unhappies but I tried my best to socialize and make it out that nothing was wrong. Sarn fell asleep during the ride and I don't blame her. There isn't much to see on those straight country roads xD
We finally got there (much to my relief) and I was soon introduced to Jess, Sarn's very enthusiastic family dog, followed by the rest of Sarn's family. I also found Sammy, the oldest and most friendly kitty ever, curled up on the bed I was to use for the night =D
More people started ariving and Sarn toddled off to socialize with guests which left me to do the same with other guests. It wasn't just relatives mind. Off the top of my head there were Elizabeth and Jason as well as Colleen so I wasn't all that nervous ^_^ I had a great time talking to Grandpa Ron, Sarn's adopted grandpa too who was very sociable and pleasant to chat with =D
Dinner was a mixed bag of veggies, potatoes, chips and dip, stir fry and barbequed steak and sausages. This was followed by dessert which consisted of lemon tart, pavlova, caramel cheesecake, fruit kebabs and little home made chocolates. We were stuffed by the end of it and just sat around chatting afterwards.
The party soon wound down and we waved the guests goodbye, except Jason who unfortunately had no transport back that night. We eventually went to bed but not before a game of pool (I forgot to mention but Sarn's step dad taught me how to play it. He's cool :3) and general shennenigans involving Jess, who was hyper to have so much attention xD
Anyway, I said goodnight to the rest of the family, tucked Sarn into bed and kissed her goodnight before retiring to my own bed, which just happened to be Sarn's old bed so it was nice and cosy ^_^

Birthday Twin Powerz Meetup - Day Six
Sarn here to start this one off. ^^ Day six was just a short relaxing day. We both slept in quite late, but we were up and dressed before lunchtime so it's okay. xD My parents were heading into town so they took Jason home, and Scar and I decided to go for a walk up one of the local hills to a lookout point. I got the dog on her lead and we set off just as my folks left for Christchurch. ^^
Scar here x3 Jess was so excited to be taken for a walk but I was to learn that there were rules for walkies. We set off up the hill and admired the scenerty along the way. It was beautiful and I love how very peaceful it was. Jess was lovely and obeyed all of our orders to heel and stayed close to us when we let her off her leash halfway up the hill. It was an exhausting climb and we had neglected to bring bottled water but the view from the top made up for it =D
Me again. x3 We sat on the bench at the top of the hill for ages just cuddling, catching our breath and admiring the view of the whole town. ^_^ Once we'd caught it, though, it was time to be off back down the hill again, home and into the shower. After that it was basically just a lazy day filled with more cuddles, playstation games, chatting and nomming all the fooood! Leftovers after a big party are amazing. xD
We had chicken schnitzel for dinner and all the cake and other sweet leftover stuff we could have for dessert xD Afterwards we settled down to watch a movie on TV and before we knew it, it was bedtime. I tucked Sarn into bed, kissed her goodnight and retired to my warm bed ^_^

Birthday Twin Powerz Meetup - Day Seven
Just Sarn writing this one, as Scar is taking a much deserved nap. ^^ We started off the day by lazing around and playing old PS2 games until Colleen drove around to my place and picked Scar and I up to take us to the local farmer's market. It was the same as always, lots of little stalls with fresh produce, crafts and delicious things. We got breakfast from the stall and sat down in the drizzle to nom away happily and chat amongst ourselves.
When the food was done, we wandered for a little more and came across a new shop in town which Colleen told me about. It was crafts and garden supplies and was quite nice, if a little expensive.
And then we spotted it - the newly opened museum ... with a TARDIS! Scar and I made Colleen drive us to the place which turned out to be a really well constructed private museum in some guy's shed. He'd set up a whole bunch of toys, posters, comics, articles and the like from ye olde days documenting the evolution of movies, TV and merchandising. It was a fascinating place, and a lot bigger than I had first thought. There was even a full scale model Dalek! =D
When we were not nearly finished looking, it was time to head back down the road for the Oxford Santa Parade. ;3 It was larger than usual, with all the local community groups, businesses and clubs taking part with their own floats. ^^ My younger brother was part of the View Hill School float, which was a pirate ship. =D We followed the parade through to the A&P showgrounds where they lined up and prizes were awarded. We got free iceblocks and then decided to head back to Colleen's place.
Once there we basically just sat around for ages, talked, giggled and discussed everything from books, politics, stereotypes and a lot more. ^_^ Colleen's older sister Janette eventually drove the three of us back to my place (Colleen was coming for dinner) and we sat around again, played some more PS2 and had noms. Colleen suggested playing a board game, so we ended up playing Cranium again because I couldn't find our Headbands board game. D: It turned out to be super fun, with Colleen and Scar teaming up against my mother and I. =D
When the game was done, mum took Colleen home and Scar and I settled in. He read to me, and then we played some more games, packed up our gear for the early trip back to Christchurch the next morning, said goodnight and went off to bed. <3

Birthday Twin Powerz Meetup - Day Eight
Scar here for this one because Sarn is having a nap. The day started out way too early. See, we had to get up really early in the morning to follow Sarn's step dad back into the city because that's when his shift starts and our place was along the way to work.
After he dropped us off, we were so tired and worn out from the long weekend that we just flopped into bed before falling asleep. When we finally woke up we were grumpy and frustrated among other things so we decided to rest up some more. It was late afternoon when we finally mustered up the will to start moving and I randomly decided to take Sarn along for a walk around the neighbourhood. It was a lovely day outside and I thought it would be a sweet idea ^^
And it was. We walked hand in hand through the neighbourhood and I got to explore Sarn's university campus as well, which was lovely. We were in much better spirits at last and had a serious talk about all the issues that we had as well as how to resolve them. However it soon started getting dark and we were sorta lost but eventually found our way out of the campus grounds.
We were hungry so we decided to get take away for dinner and stopped over at this fish and chips place to get yummy greasy food ^_^ We took them back to Sarn's place before settling down to watch the latest episode of Friendship is Magic :3 (Due to the wonders of time zones, we only get to watch it on Youtube on a Sunday)
After some more cuddle time we decided to call it a night because we wanted to go places the next day and needed the rest. So we got ourselves ready for bed and settled down under the sheets for the best night's rest in a while ^_^

Birthday Twin Powerz Meetup - Day Nine
Sarn here to start this one off. ^^ So this was a Tuesday, and a very good day all around. We slept in late, woke up and hopped on a bus to the city. The plan for the day was simple - find some lunch, meander around the Canterbury Museum, eat dinner and watch a movie. :3 Well we found lunch easily enough, as the bus we took stopped right outside Potato King, one of those small stalls set up in a vacant area of land left after demolition from the earthquake. The guy ran it all by himself, and who when asked what is in his burgers, can rattle off a complete list of all of them. This is how we know he makes them himself. xD
Scar here. We sat on a few stools nearby to finish our lunch and watch the world go by while I consulted the bus map. See, the museum was downtown and we haven't been there before (Sarn did but it's been a while) so we had to do some research to find the bus we needed. When it arrived we took a surprisingly short bus ride down to the temporary central bus station. (The main one being damaged in the earthquake) We hopped off, asked a nice lady at the info counter for directions to the museum and proceeded in that direction. It was an eye opener indeed. Lots of businesses were closed and there were demolitions and such going on, on every street. Regardless, we had a pleasant walk along the Avon river, which runs through the city, and finally reached the museum which happens to border the botanical gardens. We then left our bags at the counter and proceeded to browse the many exhibits.
Among the more memorable of the exhibits on display were the paua shell house, (which was accompanied by an adorable video before we were allowed into the recreation of the paua house) the wearable arts exhibit, (fancy dresses and such, but some were really cool pieces of metal and leather armour) a recreation of cowboy town Christchurch, (complete with creepy mannequin shopkeepers who talk when you go near them) and a real Egyptian mummy. (which made us both contemplative) We soon got tired and retired to the little cafe for some water and resting of feet.
It was then that we realized that we were actually pretty quick and that it took only under 3 hours to tour the whole museum (and that was with us stopping to admire stuff) so we decided we'd run back as soon as we could and catch a movie. Cue giggly plans involving theatrical yawns and hugs :3 However, we first had to head on back and have dinner with Sarn's flatmate whose duty it was to cook dinner that evening. We walked back to the bus exchange and hit our first problem. I read the map wrong and we boarded the wrong bus and wasted our precious time. We managed to get back safe and sound but we were so poofed by then that I couldn't even remember what was for dinner ^^;
When we finished we quickly tidied up and rushed off for the movie which happened to be Puss in Boots :333 We bused to the mall with the cinema and got the second meh of the day when Scar mislead me down the wrong ticketing line. We finally got our tickets and thought we were going to be late but luckily for us it was movie trailer time still =D We then proceeded to snuggle down together and bring out our smuggled chocolates and bottle of Coke. The movie was awesome and we both enjoyed it for its many cute and cool moments. By the end of it we were both giggly and in great spirits ^__^ After that we bused back to the flat and cuddled again for the night because it was getting rather late and we had a long but thoroughly enjoyable day <3

I just got back from the airport. Scar is on his plane back home and I just don't know what to say or do. I don't even know why I'm writing this except that I feel like I need to tell someone how much it hurts. Because it does. It hurts more than I remember it hurting last time, but maybe that's just the process of time. Everything feels empty, so cold and lonely. Having Scar invade my room, my home ... my whole life for three glorious weeks meant that everything revolved around him. I look at my bed and that's where he slept, I look at the floor under my window and it's empty because his suitcase isn't there any more. His hot water bottle that I filled for him is still sitting on my bedside table where he left it.
This horrible empty feeling in my stomach is worse, still. I feel like my insides are twisting around and chewing me up. Everything smells of him, everything reminds me of him and of how cold it is without him.
I know I'll be okay, I know we'll see each other gain, and one day we'll never have to leave each other again. But right now sitting here in my empty room with my empty stomach, I think it's okay for me to cry. Just for now.
If you have to patience, please do talk to me. I could use the company, but I can't promise I'll be very great to talk to. Thank you to everyone who has always loved and supported us. There will be more photos, stories and a few videos to upload when we feel up to the task.
Thank you.

Birthday Twin Powerz Meetup - Day Ten
Sorry it's taken us so long to get around to updating this. The initial return depression has kept both Scar and I from remembering these fond things without a bitter tang, but that seems to be fading now, and I would like to write this and remember with happiness. It just so happens that this was one of the best days we spent together.
In the morning we both gathered up our things and headed out. A bus ride later, we arrived at Northlands mall and found the bus that would take us to one of the places we had been most looking forward to visiting - Willowbank.
The bus wasn't due for another half hour, so we got some snacks to take with us for lunch, ate sushi for breakfast and had a quick look around the place. I took Scar to the pet shop where I had got Baxter from and he met the lady who sold him to me. We headed back to the bus stop and caught the right bus, getting off in the lovely countryside just outside the city. We paid our fee (Scar got in free as my disabled guide. =P) and proceeded into the wonderful wildlife park. Willowbank is not a zoo. It's ... sort of like a reserve and a history lesson all rolled into one. It's culture, native flora and fauna, invasive species and an educational experience in working ecosystems in New Zealand. It's really very amazing.
We took photos and videos of everything we could. We also purchased animal feed and bird seed at the front desk, so we were able to feed a lot of the animals and birds we came across. Willowbank doesn't usually use cages or enclosures. Most of the areas are wide open aviary-style areas with plenty of space and an assortment of animals and birds in each area. There were also a lot of free-range birds wandering around the place including plenty of ducks, some peacocks and a peahen, chickens, etc.
As we moved through the different areas, it became a sort of wildlife treat, as each new species we came across seemed to do something special just for us. Perhaps it was that we simply waited longer than most people, stopping a long while at each, or perhaps we were just very lucky. Or maybe they were doing special things for our special time together. xD
In any case, we caught; Eels poking their heads out of the river Fallow deer right up close An ostrich preening (dayum those things are scary! ;_;) A wallaby taking a nap Monkeys doing monkey things Baby otters who came when I called them Chickens who let us get close enough to pet them Swans hissing. They're nasty creatures. =/ Gibbons grooming Lemurs sunbathing A peacock displaying A tortoise yawning ... OMG A Kea landing on Scar's shoulder ... DOUBLE OMG We got to see the NZ Falcon, which is rare A Takahe grazing and honking adorably right up by the fence KIWI! Scar saw two. ^_^
It was amazing. Just ... everything. After meandering around the farm animals area we got ourselves some ice creams and continued on. Later, when we got hungry, we found a secluded bench by a lake with some ducks and birdsong and had our picnic lunch, adoring each other and our surroundings and the sheer joy of just being. Being together, being in that place ...
At the time there was an odd feeling in my stomach that wasn't pleasant, and which I couldn't place. Now that look back, I know it was the kind of bittersweet joy that comes from being with the one you love in the certain knowledge that it must end soon. Our trip was beginning to draw to a close, but we both knew we had plenty of time left. Though it seemed like no time at all. We treasured every moment of every day, but on this day we treasured it even more.
We went home in high spirits but exhausted from long hours of walking around Willowbank, but our day wasn't over. Wednesday is the night I usually cook for my flatmates, but they had requested Scar's culinary excellence in the kitchen that night, so he decided to make them a Malay dish involving chicken drumsticks, plenty of spices, tomato paste and honey.
Because he is a gentleman to his very bones, Scar left me resting in bed while he ventured off to find the missing ingredients. He returned triumphant, and I got up to help him with his task, chopping onions, peeling garlic and measuring out spices. It wasn't until half way through that we realized we didn't have a blender. Luckily, Elizabeth did, and she was happy to lend it to us if we came to get it. We set off and I showed Scar the way to her house, which was a good 15 minute walk. When we got there, she explained that it was Yani's (her husband's) birthday, so we left pretty quickly, just picking it up, discussing plans for Friday and then bidding Yani a happy birthday.
Back at the flat we set to dinner with a will, and soon we were setting the table, saying grace and tucking in to such an amazing meal as I've only rarely had. <3 Scar always complains that he can't cook, but I know better now. =DDD It was spicy, but not hot. flavoursome without being overbearing. In a word, delicious.
After the dishes were done, we settled down to watch a movie and then, too tired to do much else, we simply curled up and went to sleep together. <3

Birthday Twin Powerz Meetup - Day Eleven
Sarn woke me up with a cup of tea and lots of kisses. I was so tired that I fell asleep again, but she told me later she let me rest and used to time to finish off the household chores. ^^ When she was done, she woke me up again and we attempted to make a plan for the day. Unfortunately we were interrupted by a phone call from the people who provide Sarn's benefit. They told her the benefit had stopped because she hadn't provided them with an up to date medical certificate in time.
Poor Sarn, her mother gets most of her important mail so she rang her up but she didn't know anything about it either. Thankfully, she offered to ring the people on Sarn's behalf, but she told her to go to the doctor and get a certificate done anyway. She rang the medical centre and when she hung up she started getting dressed in a flurry. When I asked her what was up, she said the receptionist told her they were closing in half an hour for the year.
I got dressed in a hurry too, and then we grabbed what we would need and rushed out the door, walking as quickly as we could without actually running. I could tell Sarn was really stressed and I wanted to do something to help, so I guided her around the construction site blocking our way to the doctor's office and went in with her to see the doctor. I know she doesn't really like doctors and she said it was nice to have support. ^_^
The doctor seemed to have no idea what he was doing, and Sarn and I kept swapping glances. I could tell she wasn't very happy, and when we walked out she was close to tears. Losing her benefit would mean she would have no way to study and finish her degree, and no way to pay her rent or food.
A stroke of kindness came when we passed the receptionists who were packing up for the Christmas break. They seemed to all know Sarn, and one of them asked her if she wanted a Christmas rose, to which she said yes, obviously. They wrapped up a beautiful deep crimson rose and handed it to her, and she smiled. It was a lovely smile that meant a lot of her stress left her. My only regret is that it wasn't me to give her something that made her smile like that. <3
We started walking back home, but we were both very hungry, so we stopped first at an Indian restaurant and bought a fancy Naan bread with coconut and raisins baked into it. We ate that while we waited for our order of fish and chips to cook, and then we walked home slowly, talking and both feeling a lot better than we had. Sarn thanked me many times and seemed so much happier that I was simply grateful and didn't bother trying to tell her I hadn't done anything to help. xD
We ate the rest of our brunch when we got home, then snuggled for a while and did little odds and ends until Sarn's friend Elizabeth arrived for their weekly Bible study session. Elizabeth invited me to stay for it so the three of us sat in Sarn's room and read some part of 1 Timothy, praying and discussing it as we went. We were just about to do our finishing prayer when Sarn's grandparents drove up to the house. Sarn told us both to turn our backs while she got changed for dinner and we had a very rushed and amusing prayer session as Sarn changed into her nice clothes.
Once we were done, Elizabeth departed and we met Granny Diane and Ron. They took us to a Malaysian restaurant as they figured I would be able to tell them what was good on the manu, which I did. They were very chatty and really nice to talk with. They asked me plenty of questions and got me to recommend some dishes to suit their tastes. We shared four plates equally between the four of us and chattered away happily.
They took us home early in the evening, and neither of us were tired enough to want to sleep, so we sat up and watched a movie. Not just any movie, we watched Moulin Rouge, one of Sarn's favourite movies, and the one she has always wanted us to watch together. We finally got to do it, and when the film was over, Sarn was crying gently. We moved the laptop off her bed and cuddled close. I think the movie hit a sore spot with both of us, that of my imminent departure, but we dried our eyes and kept on loving each other, falling asleep eventually.
