"I'm Ren Zander," said Ren. "You know, I hear those Imperials have taken control of Tatooine." "Your joking? The huts would never allow it, and besides, what value does that dusty planet have anyway? It dosen't have any essential resources, unless the Imperials want sand for something, and it would be a horrible waste of military concentration. Seems more like an expense than an asset to me."

"Ah, the Hutts could care less about the Imperials. I even heard that Jabba's been making alot of deals with them lately," said Ren. "But I think I know why the Empire would choose Tatooine, of all places. It's fairly lawless and full of criminals, particularly Mos Eisley. The Empire fears that a large number of them might make a stand against them Empire. Maybe they even suspect Rebel activity on the planet. If I'm right, which I may not be, the troops are there merely to keep an eye on the inhabitants. If that's right, it means they're probably wasting some good troops."

"It still dosen't make much sense to me. The Hutts may not care if the Imperials were there, but I don't think they would give up power. And, if there are no rebels hiding there, then no point in staying. The hoolagins there are all in it for themselves and themselves only. It All for one and one against all. They don't care about power, so long as they are rich."

"The Empire doesn't know whether or not there are Rebels there," Ren pointed out. "That's something they're still trying to figure out. At least I think so. I could be all wrong. There could be no Imperials there. Or maybe there are, but there are actually Rebels there. Either way, I'm dying to get away from this freezing place."

"It's not that bad really. I quite like it actually. Our last outpost was to warm and humid. This is just right." she leaned back, allowing her chair to tip onto the back legs.

Ren glanced at her. "I hate the cold," he said. "I come from Corellia, a relatively warm planet. I would be on the Corellia Rebel base now if the circumstances had allowed it. But after the destruction of the Death Star, the Imperials wanted revenge, so they attacked Yavin IV full-scale. I knew at the time that the best option was to follow Commander Skywalker as we searched for a new base. And now, here I am on Hoth."

"Nice to meet both of you!" TK said, shaking both of their hands at the same time. Then, she grinned mischeviously. "I guess I could tell you about how I got to control a battleship... It was a few years ago, before I became a Rebel. I was a member of a powerful gang of space pirates. One day, we came across what appeared to be a disabled Star Destroyer. We knew something was wrong, though, when all life scans turned up negative. However, a Star Destroyer could be a really powerful way to capture other ships and loot them, so we boarded anyway. Sure enough, everyone on board was dead."
She took a sip of her drink. "We didn't know what had happened. The air was breathable, and the life support systems were functioning perfectly. Normally, though, something like this is a definitely a bad omen, and many of us wanted to leave immediately. Our captain thought otherwise, and because we were all so fond of him, none of us mutinied. It's not every day you have an entire Imperial battleship under your command, y'know. However..."
She paused for effect. "Within a few days, many of us had passed away, without any symptoms of illness. The remaining members of our crew, still in excellent health, frantically searched the ship's database for information, and found a log written by one of the last Imperial survivors, a scientist who had discovered that during a routine stop at an obscure, Imperial-dominated planet, the ship had become infected with a rare virus only found on that planet, that kills most of its victims within a few days of infection. It had only happened a week ago, and we pirates had caught it too."
TK bit her lower lip with her fangs and shuddered. "The Captain was the last one of us to go. He told me to take the ship to the Rebel Alliance on Yavin IV so they could use it. I tried my best to fly it by myself, but it's harder than piloting a one-person starfighter. So I kinda...accidentally...crashed it when I got there. I did manage to make my way to the Rebel base just in time for the Battle of Yavin, though." She picked up her soup bowl and slurped from the rim. "Anyway, I dunno why I was the only one who survived. Maybe it doesn't affect Pho Ph'eahians or somethin'. Heh, I guess you didn't need to hear my whole life story. Sorry."

"Intresting TK, but, I would still rather have something a can maneover. Did you get to put on any light shows while flying that thing? Blow a few things up perhaps?"

A maniacal grin crept up the sides of TK's face. "Maybe."

Ren was almost finished with his meal. "Sounds like it would be really hard to pilot a Star Destroyer by yourself. It's such a multiple person job. You'd have to be running from terminal to terminal constantly, activating this, activating that. I've studied Star Destroyers, you know, mostly to try and find their weaknesses. I never found many, weaknesses, though, and any that I did find weren't signifacent." Ren sighed. "The Empire sure knows how to make good ships. Except for the weak TIE fighters, of course."

TK tapped a claw on the table. "I know, that's why I crashed it. Setting off all of the weapons was sure fun, though." She drank the last of her soup and her drink and brought the bowl and mug back to the chef. "I should probably get going, too," she said to Ren and Aliam. "I'm scheduled for simulator training, and I wanted to mess with the programming a little...oops, I've said too much. Don't tell the commander on me..."

Ren sighed. "I won't," he assured her.

With a sigh, Poalie sat down. A month of interrogation and imprisonment, now finally the top TIE pilot was accepted as an Imperial defector(somebody that left the Empire) and was assigned for security, as well as minor maintenance jobsl. There were 3 others supposed to defect at the same time, a Twi'lek slave girl, a fellow TIE Fighter pilot, and a commander who got along fairly well with them. The other pilot crashed in the atmosphere of the getaway planet, he knew, and he saw the slave here, helping to stand up for his reliability, but he didn't know about the commander. He heard a few rumors that he was captured by the Rebel Alliance when his Star Destroyer got boarded. It wasn't very good, but at least they destroyed two Imperial experimental craft, as well as find some refugees.
He looked around. So this was the Alliance, huh? Even the dull metal walls of a Star Destroyer looked good compared to this dump. Yes, the defection did start to go wrong, but at least it was more spectacular than some others, like Kasan Moor or Crix Madine. Actually, never mind that, General Madine's defection was pretty interesting, with airspeeders and TIE Bombers and AT-ATs all over Correlia, battling it out until a shuttle picked Madine up.

"Yay!" TK smiled happily and went to mess with the simulator.
{{Is Poalie in the cafeteria too?}}
