((To tell the truth, it is from an unnamed story I've been working on, but that's okay.))
Hoshi grinned. "Well, I'd better leave now. Master Kisek will be wondering where I am. I'll be back later, and I'll try to find out about your friends."
Tyler nodded. "I'd like that."

Mercy nodded at Belle with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Hello. Come to help with the war planning?"
Avasa trotted over to them, abandoning her training for the moment. "I wish people would stop looking at me like I'm going to bite them," she muttered to Sylvia.
Sylvia shrugged. "Well, what else would most Kurone do with those teeth?"
Avasa looked slightly embarrassed. "Look, 's not my fault I have fangs."

((Well, the Kurone I've named so far are Ktann, Avasa, Tekarre, and Siros if that helps any. Avasa's name means "darkness" in Elvish.)) |

After Hoshi left, TK still stood in the doorway, looking in the general direction of Tyler but not right at him. "So, how long have you been here? In Railinnon, I mean." She looked down at the floor. "I came here about a year ago and decided to train to be a fighter. It's a nice break from life, but...I'm trying to find a way back home. That's why I came to Styrra. I figured if anyone could help me, those who live among the stars can." TK blinked, and tightened her headband. "Well, I'm gonna go rustle up some grub. Hope you feel better." She strode out of the room.

Tyler lay awake in bed for a while after she left, thinking about what had happened since they had arrived in Railinnon. After some time, he decided to practice his fencing a little. He stood up and immediately leaned heavily on one of the bedposts, feeling dizzy. Finally he limped over to where his sword, still sheathed, leaned against his bed.
"So it's true!"
Tyler whirled around. An astonished-looking Styrri girl stood in the doorway. "I can't believe it!" she gasped, staring at him.
"What, has nobody in this place seen a human before?" Tyler muttered.
"Actually, most of us haven't," the girl said seriously. "I'm Stella. I just got back from a trip with my mentor. And you are?"
"Tyler. We were ambushed by Kurone, and Hoshi rescued me," he explained.
"I know Hoshi," she said thoughtfully. "But I thought he was just kidding when he said there was a human in his house."
"I was going to practice a little fencing to pass the time," Tyler said, and drew his sword.
Stella's eyes were riveted on the blade. "This just gets weirder and weirder," she muttered. "Where did you get that?"
"Don't tell me you've never heard of a sword," Tyler retorted, slashing the air.
"No. THAT sword. Where did you find it?"
"Some group of Sylni robbers had got hold of it," he said. "My brother was attacking them, and my own sword broke... I mean, it broke when the Kurone attacked... the first time... and when he found the Emerstone..." Tyler shook his head. "Never mind."
"Sylni robbers? Emerstone?" Stella inquired, her eyes alight with curiosity. "Hmm..." It was obvious that she was dying to know more.
Tyler examined his sword. It was well balanced and shone brightly. "Made of silver," Avasa had said when she saw it. "Maybe even starsteel." The crossguard was shaped like outstretched wings, made of silver, and the pommel stone was a silver-blue color, almost like a sapphire but inexplicably different. Even Sylvia couldn't identify it.
"What's so amazing about the sword?" Tyler said at length. "Sure, it's kind of unusual, but..."
"I'm not even quite sure," said Stella. "It could be a replica. Unlikely, but possible."
"What?" Tyler persisted, glaring at her.
Stella was silent. "It looks like the Stormblade," she said finally.

Klatulus was now outside, with two escorts. It was half a days flight to the meeting point. He made sure his weapon was fastened down securely, then pushed off with his legs, launching himself into the air. From what he heard they had found something incredible. To important to be sending around by word of mouth. It wasn't something they would want to slip out into the open. That's why he was going to them, instead of the usual method of them going to him.

Avasa sighed. "I wish I knew what they were planning," she said. "Maybe it wasn't such a good idea for me to go with you like that."
"What do you mean?" said Amber.
"I could have stayed behind and spied on the Kurone for you," she said. "I was just so eager to leave..."
"Don't be silly, Avasa." They turned to see Xavier, on a break from his training. He smiled slightly. "You had no clue about the preparations. And the way your father treated you, he never would have let you sit in on the councils anyway. And you did find out the plan of resurrecting Ktann!"
"That's true," the former princss admitted, grinning sheepishly. "I didn't act very smart. But you have to admit, my spoiled girl act did save your lives, even if you and Tyler had to be slaves for a while."
She immediately regretted speaking. At the thought of his brother, Xavier's smile faded and the haunted look returned to his eyes. "So, uh, you've been doing really well on your fencing lately," Amber told Mercy quickly to change the subject. They talked uncomfortably for a while, until Xavier said, "I... I'd better get back. See you."
Amber watched him sadly. Avasa looked ashamed. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have mentioned Tyler like that."
"It's not your fault," said Amber unhappily. "Xavier was really devastated when... when he didn't come back."
"But who is Ktann?" said Mercy, again wanting to change the subject.
"Ktann is the source of the evil in the Kurone area," said Avasa. "He was an ancient Kurone emperor. One of the Kings of Sylna destroyed him with the Emerstone, but they say his spirit lives on beneath the mountains, poisoning the area with evil. When I was at the council, I told King Aldor about the plan to resurrect Ktann and use his power to wipe out the Sylni. Xavier was there, and so was I, but the rest of you weren't. I should have told you sooner. But I really don't know anything else about it, not even how they plan to do it."

A young Sylni walked onto the group a little while after Avasa finished her confession. Tavia was shy by nature and the condition of her light green sleeveless tunic and dark green pants and boots suggested she went out of her way to keep away from people. Her hair was pulled into a tight braid.
"Did you guys say something about war planning?" She held her double-ended spear in her hands. "Can I help in any way?"

"War?" said Avasa. "War with the Kurone. It's coming whether we like it or not."
Sylvia glanced at her friend oddly. "You know, that looks rather odd. You being a Kurone and all."
"True..."
"I just wish we had the Stormsword back," Sylvia muttered. "Our chances would be so much greater with our side wielding it. But Xavier has the Emerstone..." She shrugged. "That's definitely something."

"Well, what is it that's so imporant?" he asked the gail wing who was waiting for him there.
"Our scouts have been flying higher then usual as of late, and they found something wich we have been hopin to stumble acrose from some time now."
"I didn't fly all this way to have my strings pulled on Halleth."
"Still jagged about me being higher ranked then you I see."
"Not now Halleth. We both know you don't deserve your rank."
"Ahhh.. but it fits me so well, like a new skin really. And I've done so well in it."
"Really? I haven't seen you win any battles,... ever. You've never been good at thinking. Wich is what's really needed in the upper ranks. So I really don't see why your gloating."
"Watch your mouth, you're speaking to a superior."
"Only in the size of his over self glorified ego."
"All I have to do is snap my fingers then you're gone."
"But you need me for something don't you?"
"Hmm.. yes I do." Halleth smirked with a chuckle. "You see tiny cousin, I've made a great discovery."
"Yes, you mentioned that already, now spit it out before I slice it from of you're mouth."
"You've heard of the city in the sky have you not?" Halleth was almost giddy, and was clearly enjoying tantalizing his underling.
"What about it?"
"Why, I've found it tiny cousin. And I need you to be at the head of the attack on it when the time comes."

"I've never been happy with the Kurone," said Avasa softly. "I'm not like them. But I never felt that it was worth it to run away, until the time that Amber and the others were passing through our territory. Tyler and Xavier were captured, and I know they would have been tortured to death. I had to do something. That's... when I left."
She fell silent, thinking of all the things that had happened since that day. She didn't regret leaving, and when the day came she would fight as hard as any Sylni.
