Background: The setting is Railinnon, a land of magic, danger, and adventure. Railinnon is like an alternate dimension: it is very rare, but occasionally travellers from either Earth or Railinnon are pulled into the other world. (Think Narnia, but more random.) Railinnon contains seven natural races, as well as a few humans - people from our world, or descendents of ancient people that, for whatever reason, never went back to their own world.
Playable races are: Human - just humans. Usually people from Earth. The tribes are not quite human, with slanted eyes, pointed ears, and other characteristics. Sylni - the forest tribe. Tan skin, emerald-green eyes, and dark green hair. Their clothing is usually green or woven from leaves. Kirili - the desert tribe. Tan skin, brown hair, and golden eyes. Their clothing is sand-colored. Cyrili - the arctic tribe. Pale skin, ice-blue eyes, blue hair, typically dress in white furs. Calderi - the volcano tribe. Tan skin, red hair, maroon or brown eyes, and reddish-brown clothing. Kyrini - the sea tribe. Light blue skin, sea-green eyes, blue-green hair, dress in clothing woven from seaweed or made of shimmering scales. They have webbed hands and feet like flippers, fins on their arms and legs, and they can breathe both underwater and in air. Sraini - the wind tribe. Light skin, blue hair, blue eyes, bright clothing, and feathered wings. They live in Srain, a floating city in the clouds. Styrri - the legendary star tribe. Dark blue skin and hair, glowing blue eyes. They have four feathered wings, dark blue with glowing points like stars. Their steeds, the Starfliers, are highly intelligent four-winged canine creatures, each trained to bond with a certain Styrri owner. *points at avatar.* The Styrri live among the stars and rarely visit Railinnon below, and so have become just a legend.
As well as these seven tribes are the Kurone. Kurone - pronounced "ku-ROH-neigh." They are shadowy creatures that live in a northwest portion of Railinnon. The mountain Kurone are the more civilized of the two. They are lithe and shadowy, with narrow red eyes and draconic wings. Some become mages. The Kurone that live underground in tunnels are larger, with less intelligence and more brute strength. Some say there rests under the mountains of the Kurone territory an ancient evil, the spirit of a thousand-year-old Kurone king. Kurone are evil, but there is the rare exception among the mountain kurone.
Story As the Kurone are gathering their strength for an attack, four humans who were transported to Railinnon are training for war alongside friends: Sylvia, Avasa, and Hoshi. Xavier has discovered that he can unlock the mysterious powers of the Emerstone, an ancient Sylni amulet. Mercy discovers her talent at fencing and Amber hones her archery skills. Meanwhile Xavier's twin brother, Tyler, learns star magic from the Styrri alongside an apprentice named Hoshi. Sylvia, the Sylni King's daughter, and Avasa, a Kurone princess who turned to the side of light, are both learning magic from the Mage of Sylni. The clash between the forces of light and darkness is inevitable; they can only be ready...

My characters are Xavier (human; wielder of the Emerstone), Tyler (human; wielder of the Stormsword), Amber (human; archer), Mercy (human; fencer), Avasa (light Kurone; sorceress), Sylvia (Sylni; healer), and Hoshi (Styrri; apprentice mage).
"Are you sure there's nothing we can do?" Mercy whispered, for at least the tenth time that day. "Look, Avasa herself has told you," muttered Xavier angrily. "No cure." He didn't like it any more than the rest of them, helplessly watching his brother suffer from a lethal Kurone curse. The curse had gripped him beyond help. No matter what they did, his death was inevitable. Tyler writhed in agony on the dirt floor of the cave. They had taken shelter there from the cold weather and dangerous terrain of the Kurone territory. Mercy closed her eyes, and Xavier knew what she was thinking. Tyler was dying, and there was nothing any of them could do about it. The grim waiting was hard on all of them. Avasa crouched nearby, looking devastated. She must feel responsible, Xavier realized. It had been a Kurone that had cast the spell over Tyler, but even Avasa couldn't do a thing about it. Without warning, she looked up, her red eyes burning. "I remember," she hissed suddenly. "There's one way." "Tell us," said Amber, turning to the girl. "The King's Emerald. The Crystallum Silvi. The Emerstone. Whatever name you want to call it by," said Avasa. "That's what you want. Emeralds are the Kurone's bane. They represent light and life and growing things, the opposite of the darkness that Kurone represent. The Emerstone is such a particularly powerful one that it can break any curse set by a Kurone. There's more to its power, of course... and the royal family of Sylna guards it with their life." "I swear I'll get it," Xavier said fiercely. "Whatever the cost..." Xavier woke with a start. The Emerstone around his neck pulsed with a faint green light. Why did he keep reliving the past month in his dreams? Once had been enough. He sighed. They had recovered the Emerstone, yes, and the curse was broken. Tyler had been freed, at least for a short time. But the Kurone had killed him in the end. They had been ambushed, separated, and although most of them had survived, Tyler had vanished. Each of them still held that secret, impossible hope that he had survived, but his death seemed certain.
In the glowing city of Styrra, Tyler also woke, examining his surroundings. He was in a bedchamber built of some odd white substance that wasn't stone. The bed had an unearthly softness to it. The room almost glowed. "Where is this place?" he muttered to himself.
"You're in my bed," remarked a voice behind him. He faced the source in surprise and realized it was a boy, perhaps one or two years younger than him. He's not human, Tyler realized. The boy's ears were pointed, his hair was dark blue, and his eyes were slanted, aqua-colored, and almost glowing.
"I'm sorry," Tyler said groggily. "But I don't know why I'm on your bed in the first place."
"I put you there," remarked the boy. "The Kurone really don't like you, apparently. I'm Hoshi, by the way. Styrri apprentice."
"Styrri..." Tyler sat up suddenly, a thousand questions going through his head. "I'm in Styrra?"
"Yes, I rescued you," said Hoshi glumly. "The elders weren't too pleased, but I couldn't just watch those idiots of Kurone kill you. Why were they after you?"
"Dunno." Tyler glanced at Hoshi suddenly. "Hoshi... what about the others?"
"What others? You were alone," said Hoshi.
Tyler moaned. "I hope they escaped the Kurone in time," he said grimly.
"I can find out for you," offered Hoshi. "But first, you should rest. There's no hurry."
"Thanks," mumbled Tyler, his eyes clouded in thought. Had Xavier and the others been killed? Or had they managed to escape the Kurone ambush?

{{My character is TK, a human fighter who is visiting Styrra.}}
"'Hoy! Hoshi!" A human girl with brown hair and blue eyes peeked her head in the doorway. She was wearing a blue strip of cloth tied around her forehead, a light blue shortsleeved tunic with a white longsleeved shirt underneath, loose white pants, and sandals. "How's he doing?" she asked the Styrri, referring to Tyler and glancing at him curiously as she spoke.

"Much better," Hoshi said. "He didn't thrash around so much last night and he's just woken up."
"Wait..." Tyler interrupted him. "How long have I been here?"
"Just over one week," proclaimed Hoshi. Tyler started in alarm, but the Styrri shook his head. "Don't move so much. You haven't recovered enough yet."
"The others must think I'm dead," said Tyler, half to himself. "If they're still alive."
"I can find out for you," offered Hoshi. "For now, you should rest. Seems like the Kurone really want you dead. Why?"
"How should I know?" he muttered irritably. "They don't seem to have much reason behind what they do."
Hoshi shrugged. "Doesn't really matter. But if I were you, I'd probably be curious."

Meanwhile, in Sylna, training was beginning. Mercy was fencing with her instructor using cudgels, and Amber's target was full of arrows. Avasa crouched nearby, practicing spells to herself, but Sylvia was nowhere to be seen. Most likely practicing her healing skills, Mercy thought. Although she carried a poisoned dagger for protection and could throw a blade quite accurately, Sylvia disliked using offensive skills or magic, and preferred healing. Nearby, the Mage of Sylna himself watched approvingly as Xavier darted around the arena, fencing with an invisible opponent, before leaping into the air and scorching the ground with green fire.
Later, the apprentices all sat together for a break and lunch. "Xavier's not here again," Mercy observed. "Probably out honing his skills with that mage. Although I admit, he's quite good."
"But he's hurting," said Sylvia quietly. "He's putting everything he's got into training, to keep his mind off Tyler's death."
Mercy sighed. "I can't quite believe that the Kurone killed him, though. Maybe... maybe he's still alive somewhere."
Amber remained silent. It was true that they still had that tiny, impossible hope that he had survived the ambush. All except Xavier, perhaps. He rarely spoke anymore, spending almost all of his time training with the Mage.

"Rest, and eat!" TK commanded jokingly. "I bet you're hungry after all you've been through. We can talk about the Kurone later." She gave Hoshi a stern glance for upsetting Tyler. Then, TK turned to the human boy. "I'm sure your friends are okay," she said with fierce profoundness. Her face remained serious, but her eyes were twinkling with hints of a smile.

Belle was an odd Sraini. She had never wanted to stay in their home city, she had traveled the world ever since she was old enough to take care of herself. Now she was visiting Sylna. Belle wore light yellow dress, her pale blue hair was whispy and hung down to her lower back. Her eyes were also a pale blue and her wings were white. Belle walked up to the place the apprentences were talking. "How is everything?"

((Erm. I was afraid this might happen especially with Tyler being in Styrra. But the thing is, Styrri are legendary. Most of the Railinnon tribes don't think they even exist. On very rare occasions, an outsider will get the chance to see Styrra themselves, like Tyler because Hoshi rescued him. But the thing is.... I'll agree to one, but I don't want everyone being in Styrri...))

((Haven't finnished reading all the posts, but I will just intro and catch up later. I don't think there are any kurone baddies yet right?))
A kurone of the mountains sat stood beneath the rock in the smithery. Here he ((I haven't played a male character since... ever... or an evil charry for that matter)) was welding his wepon. A dangerous javelin of rock and iron. With every downstrock to smash the metal into shape his wings flaped. It was a dilema he was having dificulty coping with. While the flapping did provide a cooling breeze, the air was hardening the metal to quikly. He tried to stop them flapping but the rythmic movement of his arm continued to pull them up and down.
When he was finnished the weapon was crude, not as well molded, sharpened, or balanced as he would like, but he would manage with it.
As he exited the room he piked up his armour from the chair. It was much more decorated then a normal soldiers would be. And that was because he was a Blood Talon ((officer)). Not a high ranking one, but he had a few men that would be ready at the twitch of a finger.
He was scheduled to lead a troop to the gathering point that day. The Gail Wings ((equivalent to generals)) were planning a large scale strike soon.
As he passed the guards they snapped into the Kurone salute. Straight backs, wings a quarter flared, chins forming a 90 degree angle to the neck, and weapons, (if held, wich was almost always) to the right shoulde in some way. The weapon varried how it was held. The passage itself was narrow, by kurone standards. There was just barely enough room for two wing spans. A typical passage would be five to seven wingspans, with one wingspan doors. The main entrance however would be narrow, as a defensive precaution. The walls were nothing speacial. Hard coal rock walls, black and unwelcoming to outsiders, but to these kurone, there was nothing warmer to be welcomed by. The ceiling was low, by any standard, for the purpose of keeping the tunnels stable. It was enough room for one to walk or glide just above the heads of others, but it was a tight squeeze at times. Small bowls with fire in them were the light source of these tunnels, but there were very few as the kurone were well adjusted to the dark lighting.
Exiting the passage the Kurone entered a large domed room. It was one of the central gathering rooms, were the tunnels met. It's ceiling was high enough for large numbers to be flying through, wich was necessary in order to acces to tunnels that lead upwards from the room, right through the ceiling. Here it was busy. Many were congregating in groups, others were darting from shop to shop, and some of the younger ones practied their skills with wooden rods.
((I assume this is all being made up as it goes along and is not based on any premade universe from a story or anything. If it is, then just let me know if any of this is disagreeable with the facts, and pardon the lack of a name. It will come in time.))

((Ehe, sorry. My character's explanation for being in Styrra is that she's lived with the Sraini ever since she came to Railinnon, and is visiting Styrra because it's pretty close to Srain. I also wanted to jump right in on the action, which first focused on Tyler and Hoshi.))
