Storm gave Mytsis a long, intent look, her eyes glittering with a hard light. "I know," she repeated said quietly.
Kyrani felt sympathy toward her friend, but favored Mytsis with a quick explanation of Storm's reaction. "A friend," she said quietly. "Xavier. Or Experiment 13." Her voice dropped. "I know Storm. She won't give up until Xavier is free."

Kaytar sighed. "Well, many of you can't fit through that window. Besides, I think there may be other experiments in the lab still. Does anyone know if there's another prison cell somewhere? Okay, so they don't call them prison cells, but they might as well be."

"Well," said Kairon, "you guys better get back into your cages and try to make it look like they're locked. I'll look around for other rooms where experiments are held. Don't worry; I'll be back."

Aulani nodded and walked back to her cage. Before she stepped in, she shot a hard stare at Kaythar. "You better be back." she told him.

Tamur looked at the cage. "I'm not going to stay in there much longer. I'm leaving if you're more than 15 minutes." She had been imprisoned in there for years. It would be very very hard to know that she had the better of it and she couldn't take advantage of it. But she walked in.

Storm's jaw tightened. With one last look at Mytsis, she turned her back on the two experiments and strode off, straight at the lab.
"I don't think that helped," Kyrani remarked quietly. "Of course, she isn't helping either."
With a flutter of wings the fox was by Storm's side. "Storm?" The girl made no reply, and Kyrani rolled her eyes. "Storm! You can't just march in the front door!"
"Who says I can't?" growled Storm.
"Me," muttered Kyrani. "Look, you'll have no chance of rescuing him if you're caught."
"I guess you're right," said Storm grudgingly. "All right. Where's a better entrance?"

"Thank you," said Storm, slightly startled. She turned to follow Mytsis.
Kyrani grinned. "This will be easier than I thought."
Storm's face fell. "Wait. I don't have wings like you two, and I couldn't bring the dragon or my brother would have gotten suspicious..."

Kaytar strapped the harness around him again, then raised himself back in the shaft. "I won't be long," he said before he was gone. He crawled through the vent.
