((Okay then. Bear in mind, you asked for it.)) Suddenly nine dog-sized black dragons with glowing green eyes blocked the road. Dydri looked calmly at Kairon. "If we let him go, he'll probably fetch the whole guard after us."

Dydri shrugged. "We should keep him with one of us. Now that he's been blocked by dragons, he'll probably report us at the nearest house he comes to." The dragons didn't move, but watched Chris with their eerie green eyes.

Kari sighed and rolled her eyes. "You think that's going to get you somewhere? Dragon scales can't be pierced by a mere sword; the only thing you're going to do by swinging your weapon at them is probably get them annoyed. And then they'll attack you."

The dragons were unaffected, although one small one tried to jump at Chris. Dydri had expected Chris to attack, so she didn't flinch. Proof that he's not a pirate? I'd like to see that, she thought.
