Kairon sat up, alert. He saw Chris lying in the bush. Rolling his eyes, he kicked him, trying to get him awake.

Dydri took the bread and her eyes darted to Chris lying in the bush. She whistled softly.

"You would have followed me fifty miles just because of a hunch?" asked Kairon, amused. "I'm just a sailor. I'm going to visit my boss in Darkin to give him the gold I earned as a merchant overseas. That's what I do; I work as a merchant sailor who earns gold overseas and returns my earnings to my boss, then he usually gives me a fraction of the money as my reward."
