"Me?! How coulld I have done that? I am way over here! You are on top of the fire! It doesn't take alot of brains to figure this out! Now just put it out!" The word "powers" kept rolling around her brain but she pushed it away.

"I know that he had powers." Lini said eager to expoilt his mistake. A loud meow from Chichi her cat made Lini look around. The fire had quickly spread. They had to get out of the forest quickly. Lini scooped up Chichi and started running out of the forest as she ran she yelled "Run, people, run for your lives!"

Faustus felt the heat of the spreading fire and panicked. She mentally recited the first chant that came into her head and turned into... a flamingo. Cursing under her breath, she turned to fly away from the blaze.

"NO." Lini said defiantly. "That fire was made for a reason it is going to compleate it!" Then she ran. She just kept running, she ran from the fire, from the bat and she tryed to run from the truth. She didn't want anything to change. She didn't want to make fires. She wanted to use flint and steal. As she ran she saw a pink flamigo fly off. Weird. There isn't any water near by. When she got out of the forest she walked a good distance away then got ready to make another meal. She had never gotten to finish the last one. She started making a fire, but when it became time to take out her flint and steal she paused.Why not? No one was here to see me. She focused on the moss in the middle, then she tryed to transfer energy to it. It didn't light. She though to her self while still focusing, See he was wrong. I don't have powers. ... I really hate him. Really really hate him. As she sat there Lini's hate grew. Then the moss burst into flame. Lini jumped back, suprised. I did it. I DO have powers. Well no one saw I'm never going to do that again. .... Unless I can put fires out too. She tryed. She wasn't going to think about the bat. She was going to do it with out emotion. The fire was still small. It backed away from Lini's glare. It got smaller like it was hiding. Then it went out. She took out her flint and steal and lit the fire again. Chichi was rubbing against her leg. "You knew all along, didn't you?" Chichi purred. "How come I was the only one who didn't know?" Lini asked.

The forest fire grew, and spread toward the place where Lini had her fire. Flames surrounded her. Out of the fire emerged Vadek, hovering from the ground with his batlike wings. "You see what you can do?" he thundered. "You do not have to be hated by all those who accuse you of witchcraft! You can come with me, where you shall be accepted. My minions will feast on this world, but if you come with me you will be spared. You shall have a seat of power next to me. Join me!"

Faustus saw the fire spreading in all directions, and in desperation dropped towards the girl. She landed awkwardly just as she saw Vadek, and turned into a black squirrel from shock.

Lini looked up and saw the fire surround her. The bat thing came twoards her. She ignored it, focusing on the fire. She didn't know if he was talking to her or not but it didn't matter. She wanted to live. She focused on the grass surrounding the small clearing. These area's didn't light, so then slowly she expanded the area she focused on. The fire recceded. Something large and pink wizzed by and dissapred, Lini ingnored that too. Then slowly she made a path throught the flames. She walked threw it makeing sure the fire didn't grow. Finally she got out of the fire and started making it recced. It was slow work but the fire got smaller.

Faustus timidly followed the fire mage, wondering what was going on. She tapped the girl's heel, tensed to run.
