So.
I'm here.
I'm a goofball most of the time, but this involves money, which I'm pretty serious about. More importantly, how the Mercs have failed to set themselves up properly whilst I've been away. When was the last time we got a paying mission from a forumer? What exactly have you lot been doing since I left?
It's time to wipe the slate clean and start afresh. Under my leadership, this guild will grow. It will boom. We will be raking in the missions and the money, we'll buy better facilities, we won't all be stuck with only our original 100 credits.
Of course, I've not been here in so long, and I've changed on my journey. I've posted an updated bio in the roster, deleted my old one, and now I'm going to prove myself worthy to be the head. I'm gonna prove I deserve the top office, the biggest cut.
How? The Merc way. Violence and money.
I wager all 100 of my credits that I can defeat anyone else who would aim for the leadership, or who may already lead. I've been so long I honestly don't know who that is. If needs be, there'll be a tournament, but trust me- I can beat you if we gamble for the leadership, I can beat you if we fight for it. I can beat you.
Bring it, Mercs. Let's get this over with, so I can take my rightful place as leader, and we can start getting some proper missions.
DEADLINE: 1:31am GMT, 23rd June
---
I honestly have no idea who's in charge anymore, and figured this might increase activity a little, a leadership challenge. If you guys aren't up for it s'cool, just let this die, but I think it'd be interesting. After all, the Mercs are all meant to be out for No. 1, right?

Well I'm interested. I personally disagree with you Nick, while you've been away some Mercs, such PFA and I fought valiantly in GW2. I even took over leadership temporarily due to lack of one. That is why I know I should be leader of this guild.

I've been away on a major mission, not waging some war against people I should be getting along with, earning contracts from. Exactly what profit did we gain from the war?
You may say you should be leader, but do you really believe you're up to it? Let's see you put your credits where your mouth is.

Profit? How about a favor from the Fleet, through Cyborg's 'friend' Keng. How about training and survival skills, and team work skills aswell. Which will prove to be highly valuable. I know I'm up to it.

A single favour? So no cold, hard credits, then. It sounds like you've been on a Cub Scouts camping trip rather than setting us up as the leading Guild, which we so clearly are.
We shouldn't need to hone our training or survival skills. We're Mercs. We're brilliant.
As leader I'll always keep in mind that we're the best Guild, because with any attitude other than that we'll fail. Any person with connections to another Guild who may feel obligated to offer favours, anyone not 100% committed to the Mercs, shouldn't lead. When I lead we'll have missions within days, huge clients within weeks, and within months we will have surpassed all other Guilds, both in quality and quantity.
I'm setting a deadline. Three days from this very moment. If anyone is truly deserving of leading the Mercs they shoud be able to respond within that time frame. After that, we'll decide. And naturally I'll come out on top.

A single favor, which when used, could give us a huge job, which when we could successfully set us up for more jobs.
No one is pefect, especially not you, as you stated you are a goofball, which is why we need a serious leader who has only the best intrests of the Guild in mind. Like myself.
Ah, but with me as leader in the GW, I and a group of four other mercs were able to outwit and survive attacks from all the other guilds, and a group of gem people.

So... why have you not called in this favour and given us a huge job? The Guild has been dead. Seems like a good leader would do that.
A goofball I am in every aspect but regarding my money. Mercs = money. You, meanwhile, have either been sitting on a huge job opportunity and not bothered with it, or are incorrect in your claim of big opportunities.
Your one success is not particularly interesting, particularly as it did not earn us any actual profit, and 'gem people' don't exactly sound terrifying. Sounds like you actually managed to survive, which surprises me, but I wouldn't call scraping by, and not actually accomplishing a Merc's primary task of making profit from conflict, a victory.

Maybe I'm waiting until this guild actually has more than two active members to accomplish such job. These Gem people, were dangerous guild members from many years ago. They were a major threat and could have defeated all the guilds.

So you were waiting for members to magically appear before taking a job that'd encourage activity, rather than take a job that encourages activity and makes more members appear naturally.
A single win is proof of nothing, and ultimately the proof is in the fact that the Mercs have made no profit and have no activity. This will change under my leadership.
Perhaps our wordy battle has gone on too long. Have you suggestions as to how to decide this leadership contest, taking into account that other people may want to make an attempt too?

I say we give it a week, if any others wish to join in this competiton, I say we do it democratically, that way everyone has a say who will be leader. I could organise the events leading up to it if need be, which would just basically be statements of why each person should be leaders, and possibly a debate or two, followed by a voting stage, and finally the declaration of the leader.

If others want a vote then fine, but it seems boring, and not particularly in keeping with what I thought being a merc was all about- looking out for number one. Could still totally win of course.

As the founder, I feel rather invested in the guild even after my recent hiatus... now, I feel like the time is right to start actively leading the guild again, if you guys will have me. It's time to show the other guilds what we're made of.
Because let's face it, they need us. Who's going to invade Ninja HQ when the pirates are too drunk to do anything about it? Who's going to storm the pirate ship when the ninjas feel it goes against their honor? And, of course, who's going to have most of the gold by the time all the fighting is through?
That's right.
Our days of being out of work are through, my fellow mercenaries. There are conflicts brewing on the horizon, new wars to exploit and other guilds to profit from - and, my friends, it will make us rich again.

OOC'ly, though, here's some things I kind of had planned. I want to start reorganizing the guild and how it works, including an "unstructured roleplay"/IC chat thread as well as the current longer-running plotlines. Also, I would definitely plan on getting the Mercs involved in any inter-guild activities that take place.
Finally and most importantly: it is most definitely time for us to create a system of non-RPing activity. With the guild board merge, it seems like there may actually be a place for other guilds to "hire" our members for missions. Rain and I have discussed this before, but now it seems like the time is right for it. I think we should open discussion about an inter-guild currency, which may make activities like this more feasible and interesting.

I know that there is going to be change in the guild HQs, and it looks like there is now going to be a depate about the leader of the Mercs. I personally don't want to be leader. I'm not that kind of person. I can be second in command, but never leader. I think that we have some capable leaders here and it might turn into a tough battle, but I do know one thing.
Nick - You've been gone for a long time. I don't know if I'm truely comfortable with a leader who hasn't been around to see our hard times and our good times. If you had been with us in the last few months, I don't think I'd have too much of a problem with it, but you haven't been.
Cyborg - I know that you care about the Mercs a lot. I've seen you put a lot of effort into the guild. But I don't think that you are ready to lead this guild. I did not particapate in GWII, so I don't know what happened there, so, please, don't hold that against me here. I've seen how you are in the guild. I think that you might overload yourself with the Mercs, to be honest. You've taken on three or more characters in the new rp that we've been struggling in. Yes, you have been active, but I think you are a little too new for that role. My advise would be, wait a little longer. Don't take a lot of pressure onto yourself. How many guilds are you in right now? (I thought I heard that you are in more than the Mercs. *shrug*)
Elycien - You also have set your heart on this guild, from what I've seen. You begged me to join this guild. You have been with us the longest and I know that you and Fenny tried your hardest with this guild. Sometimes you disappear for a while, but you always come back and you've been there for us when we've needed you. I think that you are the best canidate for the leader role. You know that I will back you in any way possible.
That is my vote in this debate. I hope that more Mercs will be willing to step up and put they're vote out here to help us pick a leader.
Talking about other Mercs, I know that we have been dropping a lot of members as of late. If possible, could those who are still here and still plan on staying with us, please let us know in some fashion that you are here with us? I don't know of many members still here. Thank you very much!~ I hope this debate doesn't turn into a bloody match for power and I hope that those who don't win don't leave as well. It's been sad to see so many leave over the time the Mercs have been together.
I've said my piece. Good luck to you all and to all a good night.

Because let's face it, they need us. Who's going to invade Ninja HQ when the pirates are too drunk to do anything about it? Who's going to storm the pirate ship when the ninjas feel it goes against their honor? And, of course, who's going to have most of the gold by the time all the fighting is through? *pokes head in* I don't allow alcohol on my ship, despite popular belief. Good hand-eye coordination doesn't grow on trees. And as for GW2, what you guys mostly earned there was the general hatred of all other guilds due to fighting against 'em all x'D By the end of it, the mercs also turned against the Fleet. At the same time they were also the driving source of conflict, so plot-wise it worked out great. Just might get a little iffy for your future contracts. In either case I'd love to see the Mercs acting as the linking guild between all other guilds, because we've sorely needed that and so far there really hasn't been any of that. I'm not entirely sure how using mercs would work out outside roleplays, but I s'pose once we get all sorts of inter-guild activities, we could hire individual mercs to aid different guilds with their competitions. What you guys need is not so much strong leadership, but someone to coordinate and organize and do the paperwork n stuff. (For the record, I'm not a member of this guild per se, but I was your friendly local mod for a while and therefore have kept an eye on this place. I don't much plan to stick around though, so I don't have any claims on the leadership position x3)

Well actually Hunty, think of it, the mercs now have contacts with other guilds. Midknight with the Knights, pun intended. And once it gets posted on Redemption, Cyborg will be with the Fleet. Rose and Esme still in the Mercs, will have contacts with the other guilds, which can inturn help them get high jobs. Yes that does mean I will most likely be taking Cyborg and Midknight 'out' of the Merc RPs once we get one going, and can keep it alive for more than a couple weeks. But don't worry, Chaos will be staying!
