Well actually Hunty, think of it, the mercs now have contacts with other guilds. Midknight with the Knights, pun intended. And once it gets posted on Redemption, Cyborg will be with the Fleet. Rose and Esme still in the Mercs, will have contacts with the other guilds, which can inturn help them get high jobs. Yes that does mean I will most likely be taking Cyborg and Midknight 'out' of the Merc RPs once we get one going, and can keep it alive for more than a couple weeks. But don't worry, Chaos will be staying! Hee, funny, I'm changing up my character roster too. Elycien might not stay as my mercs character... in any case, Alerid definitely has to go >_>;; He's... uh... not the same, anymore, and I can't really keep him around. But that doesn't really have to do with anything. I think to kick off our relations with the other guilds, we oughta get involved in Fraze's Shop Wars. Because, come on. It's a chance to make money, and it's a chance to set up a guild currency, and I'm all for it.

We need to think of some things we can offer the others... this is one idea I had before falling asleep, so it's just stuck there and if it's bad you can ignore it, but taking into account Hunty wanting connections between the Guilds...
How about we set up an impartial meeting hall, maintained for a nominal fee, where we maintain the peace and the other guild heads can meet knowing there'll be no double-crossing or attacks? This'd be a thread that we just keep things cool in, really.
I like the idea of helping with the shop wars too, and also just in general mending relations since apparently most other guilds hate us for GW2.

You mean, to emphasize the Mercs' neutrality? I don't see a lot of plot-induced need for it per se, because the guilds actually get along fine, but I know I'd use the option whenever having to communicate with the Knights, or Ninjas, or possibly Spacefleet. 'course, that sort of thing is only really needed in roleplays, and in roleplays people usually use other measures that work best at the time and place, like sending individual ambassadors.
...at the same time, what it could be is a kind of big noticeboard where people go when they want to contact some other guild, so we wouldn't have to invade other guilds' threads for that. Like I brought the karma tournament up with the Knights. Yeeup, this has potential :3 Although make your fees reasonable or I'll find other means of communication >>

It's true that in RPs other methods would be used, but what about non-RP inter-guild activities? It could provide a useful meeting ground for those (and, in the case of Shop Wars, be a decent additional profit for us). I like the idea, yes... when the merge happens we should do it. Also still brainstorming about merc "missions" and how they could work in a non-RP context, but nothing solid's come to mind yet, so it definitely needs refining.

I have an idea, since we are picking a leader, I think we should pick a back up, if need be sorta leader. If the leader chosen disappears for a while, or something, just to have a back up ready, so we don't need to pick another leader.

A deputy would be a good idea.
Also of note- we don't need like, a perfect currency between the guilds for payment. We do a mission for the Mages, maybe we could get a magic staff of some kind, or a beneficial spell as payment- for Spacefleet, I dunno, ask for one of their ships. Stuff that could help with further missions or whatever. Plus- then we can start capitalising our place as superior to all other guilds, right? By cherrypicking the best elements from them and getting them as payment.

Well, if we're looking for a deputy for the leader, would that be one of you two or would it be like a partner of the leader's choosing?
I like that idea, Nick. We could always charge for food and all. Then no one needs to run to the grocery every time. ^_^ lol j/k But it is a good idea. I do like it.

Well the deputy would be between the other two that don't get leader, and a few others that wish to be deputy.

oh, okay. I was just wondering.
So, is there a certain way that we are going to be using to decide who the leader will be?

I think each of the candidates just says why they should be leader, and we hold a vote. In said vote, the candidates for leader may not vote.

Talk to Nick, unless you would like me to make another thread, and do so.

After painstaking deliberation, I have decided that now is not the time for a leadership battle. Now is the time for rebuilding, not inner turmoil in the Guild. Thus, I draw my name out of the running.
I know I am the right person for the position, but there's not much I can do as leader or deputy that I can't do as a normal Merc- seek out contacts, hone my skills, etc. Considering I have been away a while, I feel I have not had time to prove my obvious superiority to my fellow Mercs. Thus I will take the forthcoming months to do just that, before re-evaluating the situation. Trust me, before long you will see I am worth the wait.
For now Cyborg and Elycien can bicker about who will be temporary-leader and who temporary-deputy amongst themselves, unless there's anyone else interested. But before long I will prove I should lead, and I will lead.

*slightly late* I think, for the deputy thing, how we pick him or her depends on what we intend for that role.
If it's someone who should be literally second-in-command, the leader should be involved in choosing someone they work well with. If it's holding a leader "in reserve," it'd be better to make it the second-place person in the leader election, yeah.
I think a "reserve" leader is a great idea, and a second-in-command... isn't so much. I mean, most people in this guild are willing to start stuff up when they feel like it, so for non-RP purposes, that role doesn't seem necessary. As for RP purposes, well, it seems to come up when necessary, doesn't it? Perhaps other people could volunteer responsibilities for themselves - say, "I wanna run these non-RP activities, does anyone mind?" and we'd all be like "no" and that person would end up the leader of that specific activity. Does that make any sense at all? XD
I'll go make a thread.
