The name did sound a little familiar. She sheathed the sword and stepped around to face him. The girl narrowed her eyes. Yes, she remembered him now. She let herself relax. "That's right, I remember you. What are you doing here?"

Hades reached the door, and with a quick glance back to make sure Salahmander was sill following, opened it. Seeing one of the other mercs, one who had been there longer, sitting on a couch, he said, "We've got someone who wants to join up. She says her name is Salahmander." He stepped through the door, clearing it so that Salahmander could follow.
((... You know, I could shorten your name to Salah, but I won't. Just because this is the way Hades would be, even if he did know your nickname. For all that it's annoying typing it out a lot.))

A newcomer? Now that was interesting. Surreptitiously, Blizzard jumped down from the armchair and slunk out of the room, breaking into a run as soon as she was out of sight and heading for the training arena out back.

"Of course we're always ready to accept a new mercenary," Elycien said a little sternly, "but we also have to be careful. There's been some trouble with assassins in the past." She looked him over. "But if you're sure..." Abruptly she turned and started walking toward the base.

The man who had greeted her stopped in front of a door and opened it, revealing what looked like a living room. A pale blond girl was lying on the couch. "We've got someone who wants to join up," said Salah's guide to the girl in the room. "She says her name is Salamander."
The girl on the couch twisted her neck to look at them. "Oh, another? Good, I suppose..." Getting up, she smiled and said, "What's your name, then? I'm Rain."
Doing her best to smile back, Salah said, "Salamander. Salah for short."

A silent shadow watched the two walk towards the mercenary base. She wasn't after the thirecat. thirecats were hard to kill, and maginficent warriors. She was after the robotic cyborg. She smiled slowly. showing fangs. The vampire was getting payed big money to go after it. Fenrix waited until they were far enough away, and jumped from her hiding tree. She better hurry though, they would reach the fortress soon, and unless she could find someway to get in. Her prey would be gone.

Rain nodded slowly. "Nice name..." She trailed off then shook her head briskly. "Weather must be getting to me. Welcome to our, ah, humble abode." Her eyes travelled over to the staff. "You use magic, I suppose. So many people do these days." A bite to the lip concluded her talking and she sat down awkwardly.

Blitzkrieg and Blizzard approached Elycien both at the same time, although Blizzard beat her brother to the perch on the Thirecat's shoulder. Blitz glared vaguely up at her as she leaned toward Elycien. "You'd better get in," she murmured. "Hades has found a new recruit at the door, apparently."
"Interesting," Elycien replied shortly, continuing to walk. Then her ears twitched slightly, and she grimaced inwardly. It was impossible to tell at such a distance, but she really did hope that she'd just heard some wild animal and nothing more. "Keep your guard up," she hissed to Blizzard. The Gathow nodded and jumped down into the tall grass, keeping pace with the Elcie and Cyborg and holding her tail low so that the grass completely hid her body. Elcie kept on looking straight ahead, not giving any outward sign that she had noticed anything, but the Thirecat's senses were on alert.

It took a good deal of willpower for Salah not to raise her eyebrows or widen her eyes at Hades' description of himself. "Yeah," she said to Rain, "I'm a light mage."
