"Or maybe you could override the override," Ethan suggested. He then decided to just ask what he wanted to ask. "May I try?"

Zari blinked. 'I have the equipment. Depends if you want a cat-clone like these or a dog or a fish or an eagle. That's what I can manage. I've tried overrriding the override but it doesn't work.'

Ice waved as Zari left, then turned her attention to Bacon, carefully depositing Maia on the floor beside her chair. Both clone and girl sat attentively in their respective spots, waiting for Bacon to continue.

Amneiger carefully placed Iskale onto his desk, who sat there cleaning his paws.

"I'd like to try a splice, but not the same kind as your clones."

Zari rubbed her chin. 'What sort? Fish and birds are easiest. I've got a god stock of bird DNA. Fearthers and such.'

"First, here are your toolboxes (TBs). Inside you will find a number of tools and implements, powered mechanically, electrically, and manually depending on what exactly it is. Here is a brief summary of how they work, please skim over this, paying particular attention to the instructions for laser cutters and welding gear." Bacon said, handing each student a thirty-five page toolbox manual.

"I'd like to try a combination of a few different kinds, like your clones here yet still different. Actually I think I'll even use similar species types. Dog, cat, cat, fish."

Zari blinked. 'I played strengths and flaws. Try different types of carnivorous bird and then a predatory bat. Wonderful outcome. Just, try to keep to the same groups. If you're splicing animals, you don't mix predator and prey. You can mix Carnivore and Herbivore if you know what your doing, but keep the species in groups. Scavengers, Predators, Prey. My clones are Omnivores. Don't know why, but They'll eat spinach quite happily.' She stopped walking and held up her hand. A metal claw shot out of the door and yanked Zari through the door. The slight Fae passed through the door as though it wasn't there. 'Let him in, Gak. He doesn't have an asparagus wand, or a snake steak, or a wet fish.' The fake door vanished, revealing the lab space that had been assigned to Zari. Zari was holding a hysterical robot about three feet off the ground by it's left foot. Nine stasis tanks lined the side of the room. Eight were empty, but one held a almost perfect carbon copy of Zari, clad in blinding white clothes. The Zari clone, if you hadn't met her, would have had almost anyone fooled, if it wasn't for the sign on the tank "CLONE. DO NOT DISTURB. HIGHLY IDIOTIC." Scrawled below the sign, in juvenile handwriting and limegreen ink, was 'Imma flying fish! mwagh!' Zari opened a cupboard and began to riffle though it's contents. 'Don't mind me, I'm just grabbing some DNA that a beginner could handle.'

"Predator and prey? Oh. When I said 'fish' I was just referring to sealife in general, like how you used shark DNA. I thought I would do something similar to what you did, in case it increces the chance of success, being based off a successful splice." He paused. "Actually, I think I'll just stick with shark, any other kind of fish seems... out of place with what I have in mind.
"Do you know if the override gene works if you take it from one animal and splice it into another, or have you tried? And what kind of husky did you use, or was it a mix?"

'Siberian. It doesn't work if I splice the override gene- It's coded or something. I can remove it but I can't make it migrate.' Zari tugged a box labelled 'Speed solution' out of the cupboard and was immediately deluged in about 60 more boxes of varying sizes. A small voice issued from the pile of boxes that hid Zari from view. '...I'm okay. Honest.'

Seeing Zari get covered by boxes, Ethan ran over to the pile of boxes and started moving them off, placing them right-side up.
"Maybe you should try stacking these as little as possible," he suggested, hoping nothing important got broken.

Zari stood, shedding boxes. She moved into a corner and picked up Aeloan with one arm, rubbing her hairline with the other. The air pulsed and shifted, the boxes rising. About a 14 seperated from the rest and stacked themselves on the bench, while the rest flew back into the cupboard. 'Aeloan acts as a magic amplifier. Don't ask. The boxes are all DNA that I started off with. Eagle, labrador, Burmese, Dolphin. Leopard, bat, Serval, Jack Russel, King Cobra. The rest is computer parts. If I'm not sure how the DNA is going to work out, I use a computer program to preview how the clone will look, if it's functions are all going well, et cetera. It's a good program- I'm thining of putting it up for use by other clone scientists'

Ice eyed the manual apprehensively, wondering how enjoyable this class was going to be, but then dutifully set about her work, dumping the toolbox on the ground and opening it. Maia poked her head in immediately, and not being very large, managed to get her whole body in and started prodding the tools. Ice *tsked* and pulled her out. "Careful there," she chided the clone, and rifled through the box to find the laser cutter and welding stuff.

"Oh really?" Ethan said, the mention of a clone simulator catching his interest. "Would you mind letting me use it? If I'm going to do this, I'd prefer to do it right on the first try."
((Would the program include options for assuming whether certain species have the override gene and/or progressive baby-adult stages?))
