Strife, if you don't mind I'll start this now. A lab would be a good idea.
If we had more professors, I'd have got some 'Head-of-department' thingy, but there;s only me 'n' Amnei as professors.
The cloning section is over there- I'll be hosting a class on cloning vertebrae (sp?) in a few minutes. In that corner are a few broken ships to repair. The chem area is over thereaways, and we also have a small lounge to share notes.
Also, the theatre will host 10-minute classes every 15 minutes. (Idea's anyone? I've got a class on cloning to start us off, but I can't be the only one.)Once there are 2 attending the class it'll start.
((Note- This is a sort-of department roleplay.))
Classes upcoming-
Cloning (Hosted by Zari) Finished Stellar Vessel Engineering and weaponry (Hosted by Bacon) Attending: 2 -Starting soon- Clone Raising and Training (Hosted by ZariKrahia) Attending: None

Star-Vessel Engineering and Star-Vessel Weaponry will be hosted by me, please!
Bacon got to work trying to invent an advanced pulse regulator for spaceship fuel injection systems. Then he run into a problem accelerating the fuel valve in synchronization with the vent shaft, so he decided to put it on hold and start on tactical weapons for long-range space combat.

*blows up thread* :3 Setting up the chem lab here =D
Ice walked into the lab. It was quite spacious, which was great! She checked out the available course listings, and decided to sign up for Star Vessel Engineering and Weaponry; she did need to learn something about spacecrafts. "Ooh, cloning! Sweet." She signed up for that one, too, being a rather eager learner.
Having put her name down, the ice-girl wandered off the chemistry section to check out equipment. It was separated from the rest of the lab by a large shield-door made of some plexiglass-like material (only stronger), accessible via a thumbprint scanner. She put her thumb to the scanner and waited as the shield slid up. She'd bring her own stuff soon enough, but first she ought to check what they had.
The requisite basic equipment was all there - tubes, beakers, graduated cylinders, Bunsen burners, stored chemicals, etc. There were some more advanced items available too - a quick dehydrator, a large oven. Plenty of tinkering and counter space, lots of cupboards, too. Nothing was made out of wood, unlike the chem lab she had used as a young student (that was a really bad move on the part of our high school, putting wooden cupboards right above Bunsen burners XDD), but out of a black marble-like material. The wall by the entry was separated into cupboard and closet space, containing safety equipment. There were also tables in this area of the room, with cupboards beneath them that had blank labels on them - for scientists to fill out and store their experiments/equipment in, she assumed. The fume hood and other fire-related equipment was on the wall opposite the entryway.
As she took in the details, she pondered about what she should do first.

The lab space set aside for Amneiger was fairly standard; cabinets and cupboards, a desk off to one side, equipment stacked neatly in various containers. One corner of the room was partitioned off with reinforced plexiglass as a testing area. Amneiger had made a few modifications - an active minitank armed with a fire extinguisher and ballistic rifle, and an automated dart gun set in the ceiling. Amneiger was, um, security conscious.
Most of Amneiger's laboratory was taken up by two black table in the middle of the room. A camera, microphone, radio linkup, and diagram of a fly were sitting on one table, while the other was taken up by a cloaking device.
Amneiger was trying to build a spy drone; a fly-sized robot that could get into places and send images and sound back. If he managed to squeeze in a cloaking device it would be even better.
In either case, his first job was to rebuild these so that they would be smaller. A lot smaller.
There had been a signup sheet for a cloning class and a star-vessel engineering class outside; they might be useful so Amneiger went out and signed up.

Both classes have two attending- Bacon, head over to the theatre once I've finished
A message blared over the intercom. 'Cloning Vertebrae will commence in four minutes. Please find your way to the theatre.'

((Just jump in! There's a section of broken ships in that corner if you feel like it, or you can sign up for a class.))
Zari coughed, arranging the equipment for her class in the middle of the theatre. Four chairs had been grouped around one central table, which held a large tube big enough to hold a medium-sized dog, as well as three beakers and several test-tubes full of suspicious substances.

Amneiger walked into the theatre and found a seat near the front of the room. He glanced over his shoulder, checked the arrangements of seats and possible exits, and pulled out a notepad and pencil.

Ice grabbed a spiral notebook and a pen from a box near the theater entrance, and then walked in. "Is it alright for me to use one of these chairs, Zari?"
(( Is this more formal in hierarchy than the RP, or are we on the same terms as we are there? ))

((Good question. I would assume the latter as I am only a lowly cadet, but my character knows almost everything about spaceships.))

((Same terms as in the RP))
Zari smiled. 'Yes, yes. Sit, both of you. Cloning is a relatively simple process. It's getting the DNA that's difficult. To create my four adult clones, I had to get Shark, Serval, Feral Cat, and Husky DNA as well as my own. Shark was easy- My instructor had a pickled shark tail in her study. Serval was also easy- Ilhrven has an infestation of the things. I had to go down to earth to collect Husky and Feral Cat. I had to break into a Human Home to grab a few husky hairs, and went into some bush to get Feral Cat. I have the scars to prove it. All of those are here. You will try your hand a creating a clone.' A small whiteboard had instructions written on it. 'Follow these'
The instructions were as follows:
Grab a beaker. Add the shark DNA (grey jelly.) Add Feral Cat DNA (Long brown hairs- USE TWEEZERS) Add Husky DNA (White hairs OR transparent liquid) Stir carefully. Add Serval DNA. Wait for further instuctions.
Zari's expression went serious. 'Be careful. That's a life in your hands.'

Ice 'd for a minute, then grabbed a beaker and went to work, pulling on a pair of latex gloves as a precaution. A spatula of grey jelly, three feral cat hairs, a pipette of husky. She looked up as a thought struck her while stirring. ".... I don't suppose there was any particular ratio we had to use? Mine's pretty much equal parts of everything, I think."

'There isn't a ratio. The serval and feral cat dominate the rest, so the clone itself will be largely catlike, with the ability to breathe underwater and a resistance to cold. Don't know where that came from- might've been the husky. As is visible, Aikrans markings are more pronounced and the rest of his fur is lighter because he has more husky than the rest. If you look at him, then at a husky you'd see the similararities.' Zari had managed to bring the clones in, and now made Aikran sit on her chair so the markings were visible.

"So the clone will always be a cat? Even if you only put in a hair of serval and feral and used several cups of shark and husky? Why is that?"
