A buzzing sound came from Fuzz's pack. "I'll be right back." He said stepping out the door. A few minutes later he came back in. A worried look was across his face. "Its nothing." He said, "Nothing you should worry about anyway."

Tovy eyed Fuzz's pack with clear distrust, then began to read aloud. 'Riasa-Calleo has fallen. The forces are stron'. I saw a caravan leare. No' sure who it is. May be hos'ile. Don reply I am wa'ched. All West-central Xenam wa'ched as they have trade with Dunburro' most. Take care. Tell Zari I send Malcirie Xenami information and rumours since I am sure you are also wa'ched somehow. Alektamn.' She folded the scroll. 'He sent this to me via messenger bird rather than magic, so he is by sure being watched.' Her accent had retreated somewhat, so the letters she had previously missed out on were now apparent. She was serious.
Zari frowned. 'It's getting late. Zaha's gone to find Bacon, she'll take him and his horse back to the castle. We can come back tomorrow. Civie'll get annoyed if we turn up on the doorstep at nighttime. Lessgo. Bye, Tovy.'

"I had been thinking of doing that," Shade said, standing. "And as this meeting is over, I shall go now." She bowed to Lord Wolf before turning and walking to the door. Opening it, Shade looked back into the room once before walking out and heading for the inn.
The Kestrel's Cross, when she got there, was quiet, with only a few people sitting at the tables, and most of them were in the corners. Shade glanced around as she entered, smiling a little. The innkeeper, a large man named Harold, waved to her from the bar. Shade waved back, making her way through the tables to him.
As soon as she was within reasonable speaking distance, she began to talk. “We’re expecting a group of ambassadors – including a general – to arrive tomorrow morning, though they may be here earlier. There shouldn’t be too many of them, and I’m fairly sure that you’ll have enough room, even if they bring more than we think.”
Harold raised a hand, stopping Shade’s stream of explanation. “Who are these ‘ambassadors’ representing?” he asked, completely calm. “And how many should I expect?”
“They’re representing the army that’s been taking over the lands near us. And my guess is fifteen to twenty of them.” Shade stopped for a second, considering. “I don’t know what sort of people they’re bringing. None of us do at this moment, but it’s safe to guess that most of them will be guards, and that there’s probably a mage among them. I think that’s everything.”
“I’ll go and start setting things up,” Harold said. “Good day to you, Envoy.” He turned, disappearing in to the kitchen area of the inn. Shade left, hurrying to get back to the castle and help prepare it and herself for the westerners.
((Harold is a community character, if it matters.))

As they stepped out the door it was obvious Fuzz was still worried. "It'll be dark out soon." He said clearly trying to think about something else. "Hopefully we get there soon." he stopped talking. He hated small talk and decided not to use it.

'You okay? You look like a Xenami sabre-toothed mouse with gas problems. Believe me, hope that is never one of the sights you have to see. Not nice at all. The castle ain't far away. I know some shortcuts, if you don't mind getting your shoes wet.' on that note, she veered down an alleyway. 'C'mon, no time to waste.'

Zaha had no idea what thgis scent was, but it smelt vaguely like horse and metal, so she followed it. If it wasn't Bacon, she could turn human and inquire politely if anyone had seen him. Hopefully not.

"Its just some problems at home. The thing in my pack that buzzed is a communication device." Fuzz said, "I don't think I want to see one of those, but I don't mind my shoes getting a little wet either." As they were walking a squirrel came up to them and hopped on Fuzz's shoulder. "Oh this is Nerka. He is just an ordinary squirrel." Fuzz said as Nerka nibbled on some cheese.
((Nerka is my character, and thus is not a community character.))

Pyro slipped out of the council room as some of the Knights went off to prepare for the ambassadors from the army. Pyro made her way back through the oft-confusing passageways and halls of the castle down the familiar path to the library, her feet moving automatically while she remained lost deep in thought. She figured that the best way in which she could help the Knights would be to try and find some way of better defending the castle. They were a small force, especially if Shade and the others who would go to meet the army's ambassadors did not return in time to stop a possible attack on Dunburrow.
She slipped through the great doors of the library, moving purposefully now, rather than drifting from book to book as she had done before. There were countless shelves on magic, battle strategy, all number of things. After pulling a sizable stack of books into her arms, she spilled them onto one of the tables nearby and laid out fresh parchment and ink.
Zari's not here right now, and Tirilia said that she would remain with us, Pyro thought as she started flipping the pages of one large tome, but she’s off seeking the mirror shards now. I wouldn’t dream of calling her back from such an important task…who else said that she would stay in defense—ah, yes. Pyro stood and hurried into the hallway. As luck would have it, as she turned one of the corners, she saw a servant walking along at a pace that indicated that she wasn’t doing anything urgent.
“Excuse me,” Pyro said, “but I would be much obliged if you could take a message to Lady Emma for me. She has just left the Council Room.” At the servant’s acquiescence, Pyro smiled slightly. “Tell her that the Black Knight requests her presence and assistance in the library, please. Thank you.”
Her message delivered, Pyro returned to her table and her task.

((Zari isn't meeting the opposing council, she's just talking to her contacts. She's staying.))
Zari eyed Nerka, uncertain. 'Follow me.' she turned down a waterlogged alleyway, went right through , doubled back, went left, took a right turn a at forked road, then stopped abruptly. 'Here we are.'
Zaha stopped. Yes, this was Bacon. 'Zari and Fuzz are heading back to the castle. I know the way back. Unless ou wish to find a way back by yourself, I advise you follow me.' To empasize this, Zaha crossed the cobblestone road, then sat down.

"Right!" Bacon replied, still unsure of what exactly Zaha was. "Sorry if I've been a bother, my horse has been somewhat unruly."

'Tsk tsk. Silly thing. must want to be back in his nice warm stall, not out here splashing in puddles.' Zaha began to wash a paw. 'The water here is quite dirty. I don't like it getting on me either. You're not alone, equine.'

The sun was setting as they neared the city's wall. General Alec rode up ahead of the group and stood atop his ride. "My people," he said, "we shall make camp here. Come morning, we shall meet the king."
A wave of murmuring swept through the caravan as he remounted his horse and galloped back to Casandra's side. "I've not yet interrogated the easterner," he said.
"It has been difficult to find her," Casandra said, her face stolid and unyielding.
General Alec rubbed his chin. "Soon as we've settled for sleep, find her. Find out what she knows."
* * * Casandra bounced up and down in her saddle as Vaticina, her blotched-grey mare, trotted in circles through the caravan. There were only twenty or so people there, perhaps thirty, but with the only source of light scarce fires lit throughout their encampment, it was still hard to find anyone.
She smiled when she caught sight of her prey; she snapped Vaticina's reigns and steered the mare towards the easterner, who was stroking her hand down the back of her falcon.
Casandra dismounted and walked up to her. "Lady Fenrix?" The easterner looked up at her. "Pretty bird. I saw her returning from the city earlier. Anything carry back on her wing?"

Fenrix raised her head from the falcon. "Perhaps. It might be of use to you and your general. For a pretty price." She smiled sweetly, with acid in her eyes. She was leaning against her saddlebags, and had Hava grazing nearby.
"/He/ has a special sight. One that could see all of Dunburrow. And it's strength." She baited, knowing this would be the information that General Alec would need.

"Ahh yes. Here we are at the castle." Sir Fuzz said to his fellow knight. "Should we tell King Wolf about this venture now? Or should we wait till morn?" Nerka scrambled off Fuzz's shoulder and crawled into a hole. "That would be his burrow." Fuzz said watching Nerka.

"I'm not sure that's quite what his problem is..." Sir Bacon replied to Zaha, as the horse trotted back to the castle, somewhat hastily.

'We still haven't seen Malcivie. Though, we should report our finding, in the morning perhaps.' Zari reminded him. 'See you tomorrow. I need my sleep, or I eat heads. G'night.' Zari headed inside, rubbing her eyes. She gave her teeth a scrub, then went to look out the window. Before she could think anything else, she was slumped on the floor, exhausted. 'Dun bover genin ina bef......uhhhhhhhhzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.'
'Oh dear. Dp try to get it out of him, will you? More questions are not good at this hour. Goodbye. I trust you can find your way from here? The castles only a few minutes away. Farewell.' Zaha wandered off, browsing through the city scents like one might browse in a bookshop.
((Happy Christmas Everyone! Have some chocolate sauce.))
