Emma walked back to her quarters, wondering what she needed to do. She should probably -
"Lady Emma," said a servant Emma had nearly walked into. "The Black Knight requests your presence and assistance in the library," she said, reciting a message.
"I will be there in a few moments. Thank you." Emma headed towards the library. It was a short walk - she hadn't walked far yet. Within a minute, she was in the library. The Black Knight was sitting at the table with a stack of books and some parchment. "You asked for me?"

"You asked for me?"
Pyro looked up, hearing the doors open, and offered Emma a faint smile, nudging a free chair towards the other Knight with her foot.
"I hope I'm not interrupting you," Pyro said. "But I heard you say at the council that you would be joining the forces staying here to defend our castle. I was thinking that, as Tirilia and Zari are otherwise employed right now, we could look through some of these books for defensive spells or tactics." She looked around them. "As you can see, it would be...troublesome to go through all this myself. Unless, of course, you're busy; it would be fine."
She looked down at her sheets of parchment, which only had a few spells scribbled onto them. Spells that she couldn't even use. Spells that weren't even fire spells, the only kind of magic her crazy sword could spit out sometimes. "Lady Emma...do you have any knowledge of magic?"

Finally... Tirilia growls to herself as she tucks the third shard of the mysterious mirror into her shoulder bag, taking great care to wrap it in thick leather first.. One never knows who has the other pieces and you never know who might be watching you.
Now a full two days travel from the Castle, she jumps down from a very large oak, whose unusual tribal decorations included the last mirror piece... along with a few human skulls, a million cobwebs, and lets not forget the complex evil looking sigil's carved into the wood. Glancing back at the tree, she picks a strand of cobweb from her shoulder and curls her lip cynically. "What a lot of bother for a tree."
With a sigh she hoists her shoulder bag into a more comfortable position and starts the long walk home.

"No, I'm not busy at all." Emma sighed, looking at the very large stack of books as she sat in a chair. "I'd be glad to help. I think I'd go crosseyed if I had to read all this alone."
"Lady Emma...do you have any knowledge of magic?"
She shifted uncomfortably. "A very small, extremely basic knowledge."

"Special sight, you say?" Casandra squinting at the hawk on Fenrix's hand. She herself had the special sight, could see the future, the past, the present, any place, any time. What was her boon, however, was also her bane: She had no control over what she saw, no matter how much General Alec thought she did.
And she could recognise the sight in others, and she was certain of one more thing.
"I don't see the sight on him," she said, but shrugged and went on, "but if you've got information on the kingdom's strength, I suggest you share it or stand against the General on charges of treason."
* * * "Can I see my mum and dad now?" Jonathan said.
Sir Ruadhan drummed his fingers against one another and crossed his legs with a sigh. "Unfortunately, my dear boy, we've not yet been able to locate their whereabouts."
Jonathan's head fell and he stared blankly at the ground. Then his face tightened and he threw his head up at Sir Ruadhan. "Why haven't you found them yet?"
Sir Ruadhan grinned. "His Majesty has hid them well."
Jonathan sighed and sunk back into his seat. "Why does he even want them? He seems nice enough to me."
"Only nice enough?" Sir Ruadahn shook his head. "Unfortunately, my boy, King Wolf is hiding quite a few secrets back in Glen Oak, and it seems your parents have gotten caught in his efforts to hide them. However—"
They turned towards the door. Footsteps.
Sir Ruadhan leapt to his feet and wheeled around to Jonathan. "Remember, you know nothing. You mustn't let him know you know anything, Jonathan, you simply mustn't."
Sir Ruadhan spun to the side and shone silver a moment before dropping to the floor as a shimmering spider that scurried off just as the door opened and Wolf strode inside.
Jonathan looked up at him, wide-eyed and fearful.
Wolf sighed with a smile and quickly slid up beside Jonathan and wrapped his arms around the boy. "I'm so glad you're alright."
Jonathan stiffened. "Sir?"
Wolf smiled and loosened his grip on the boy; he backed away, but kept his hands on Jonathan's shoulder and leaned in closer until their eyes met.
"Jonathan, you...you need to promise me something, okay?"
Jonathan's bottom lip trembled, but he nodded.
"Good, good," Wolf said. "I...I need you to stay in here for the next couple days, okay? I...I think that—that—"
"What's going on?" Jonathan gulped and shivered.
Wolf let go of the boy and sighed as he stood up. He wound his way towards the window and peered through the glass over the darkened capital far below. "I...I fear there may be war upon us."

"You don't see the sight on him because it is not like your stuffy western sight." She said it with much disdain in her voice. "And I do not wish to share it with you. I will go straight to the General, if you please."
Not that I really care, I'll go to him anyways. She thought wryly, standing casually. Koje flittered on her fist as she rose, trying to keep his balance. "Easy Koje. It is easier if you ride on my shoulder. You have poor night sight."

((Slight godmod... Since SILE missed the meeting, I'll have to make it look like she somehow participated))
Around another corner of the hall, SILE stood and listened intently. The pink cat was silent all the time, processing every bit of information that came across the conversation. What she understood was that the kingdom would be facing a general of an incoming army to engage in, referenced to what the latter said, a peaceful negotiation. As the meeting went on, she realized the Knights had another problem: the strange and unknown 'presence' lingering around the castle.
With suggestions and comments coming from the Knights around her, SILE felt that she did not need to add more. Her line of thoughts, she convinced herself, matched that of her cohorts. She jumped slightly as, one by one, the Knights volunteered on either going to the place held for the negotiation or staying in the castle to guard it from the mysterious being.
Not sensing any good time to interrupt, SILE kept her mouth shut as her comrades gave out more of their suggestions. She thought it would be wise for her just to stay in the castle to guard. Perhaps her silence would hint that she would not leave the castle's premises.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Boredom and constant mindless walking around the hallway had brought SILE nothing but more of both. Though the pink cat was known by her friends as patient, she could feel time being slower than usual.
Moments later, SILE was picking up some human voices nearby. One was very familiar to her; it was that of their glorious king. The pink cat could not help but walk closer to the source, thinking that she may be something of good use for that moment.
Sir Bacon returned to the castle and tied his horse up in the stable. "If you won't behave, you'll just stay in here." He told the horse, who whinnied in reply.
Unsure of whether this was a negative or affirmative, Sir Bacon just ignored it and walked away to where King Wolf was. "Sir, I am ready to depart for the negotiations whenever you are."
((Sorry I haven't been on lately. I have been doing quite a bit since Christmas and haven't had the time.))
Sir Fuzz walked to his quarters. He was about to enter his corners when he spun around on his toes. "I need a drink" He thought to himself and headed towards the kitchen. He entered the kitchen a few minutes later and said, "Do you think I could have a glass of ice water?" The person in the kitchen stood there pondering Fuzz's sanity. "Did I hear you right? It sounded like you said ice water." The maid said. Fuzz stood there pondering what she meant until he finally said, "Can I have some normal water then?"
((Excuse-post))
Zari rolled out of bed and groaned. She'd intended to take a nap, but her stomach wouldn't let her. It was probably the fact she'd had milk at breakfast, Milk always upset her stomach. She dragged herself to her feet and went into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her 'Blargh. Now I know Fae digestion doesn't like milk. rargh.'
((True fact: Zari cannot drink milk, her digestion cannot stomach it. She can take milk products such as yoghurt, though. I love excuse-posts))
((Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone )) Tired and cranky, Tirilia arrives back at the castle to find empty halls, her lip twists and she goes in search of Wolf. She intends to tell him about that hawk.. There was something odd about it for certain. It was quite unusual behavior for a hunting bird to circle such a vast area over and over and yet find nothing in the way of prey. Unless it was not looking for prey..
Wolf woke from restless sleep before even the sun had risen. He shaved, bathed, and donned his undergarments and lightweight armor before dressing himself as usual. He fastened his belt around his waist and felt Wolfang hand idly at his side; Wolf pulled on his hilt, and as he ran the tips of his forefingers down the silver blade, it hummed in his grasp and shone with an emerald sheen. He sheathed Wolfang and proceeded to fit the pewter crown of Dunburrow overtop his head and then pulled a green velvet cape across his shoulders and fastened it around his neck. It was ceremonial garb for diplomatic relations; on it back, a giant kestrel had been sewn into it in rich browns and golds.
Wolf's face was stolid as the sun rose and peeked through the windows of the castle corridors he marched through. Maybe things would be different if he were older or stronger, if he'd been king any longer, or if this weren't his first war. But he wasn't older or stronger, he'd only been king a week, and this was his first war.
Wolf walked into his throne room. The night before, he'd sent a messenger to alert the other Knights to meet him there if they were joining him to the Council Chamber near the city's wall on the southeast side. A few had already arrived, though he'd give the others more time to arrive. There was still some time to pass before they were needed at the Council Chamber. They had the time to spare.
After some time had passed, Sir Bacon approached him and confirmed he was ready to go.
Wolf licked his lips and nodded solemnly. There were only a few minutes left, and then they would depart.
* * * General Alec straightened his armor and stood by his steed. When he felt their presence approaching, he turned around to see Casandra and the easterner, her bird in tow. He greeted the former with a nod and ignored the latter two.
"It's about time," he said. "I'd about given up hope on either of you returning."
"My liege," Casandra said and bowed. "She took some...convincing to cooperate. She says her falcon has the sight, and she has information for you. You may find it worthwhile to listen."
Alec snorted. "Well, perhaps she's worth something after all." He turned around and mounted his horse, doubtful any information she'd have for him would be worthwhile, if she truly were a spy. Maybe she suspected they were onto her, and that's why she offered anything in the first place.
"No matter," he said, "it's too late to chat now, 'least not here. We're to be seen by the king in less than two hours' time. So Casandra, summon her steed. She shall ride with us to meet the king."
Fenrix refrained from rolling her eyes. She was no servant of his that he could order her around. But to disobey would be most unwise at the moment. She glared pointedly at Casandra, she did not much care for the woman, and turned. "I shall call for her. Hava refuses to come to anyone else. Eastern training and all." Silently she added, not that you would know anything about that, you bloody westerner.
She walked back to the horse, letting her excitement take over her resentment. Dunburrow. Soon she would be in dunburrow, and away from either force. General Alec was like one of the peacocks that wandered around her family's main house when they were not wandering around. Proud, showy. But he was dangerous, and not to be taken lightly, despite his attitude.
For now she would wait and watch, and see which side needed information on the other the most. She tightened the cinch of Hava's saddle and swung herself up on top, adjusting her sword at her side, and her quiver and bow on her back. Koje fluttered for a moment and then rested on her shoulder, gripping the leather shoulder pads.
He doesn't trust you. The King will not trust you either. What is your plan? Koje thought to her.
Try not to get killed or captured? I'm working on a plan you brainless bird. She thought back ruefully.
