*knocks on ye olde castle door*
CRREEEEEEAAAAAK
...goodness, s'dusty in here. Coo-ee, anyone home? I have a white flag, see? This means I come in peace and such and you can't arrest me ^^
In any case, I'm in need of a little knightly advice. See, I have plans of making an all-guild event. Namely a jousting tournament. It won't be much of a bother to run because it'll be karma-based (kinda like Karmageddon, except all smitey instead of smite-and-exalt) but what I'm lacking is the narrative background. Being a bloody pirate, I can't very well make this a pirate event (ships crashing into each other would be epic and all, but we really don't have that many ships to spare) and I can't very well narrate it as being hosted by the Knights without actually consulting with the Knights. Which is why I'm here.
The idea itself is pretty simple: all guilds come together in truce to face other guilds' members in one-on-one duels. What I pretty much need is y'guys willing to be depicted as the hosts of the event (lending armour and horses to the equestrially challenged participants, things like that). And possibly also info on what Castle Kestrel and the surrounding grounds look like, cos I'll be drawing comics to go with the event *is crazy like that* and I like getting my details right.
...yeah. Comments, opinions, angry frustrated glares in the general direction of the white flag?

Hey, Royal Envoy here. *does actually have that rank in the roleplays* ..I like the idea. I really do. I don't think any of us have really said anything about what Castle Kestrel looks like, though Wolf might know something. But awesome idea, Hunty. Hope we can get it to work.

Well, the problem with Wolf is that he's difficult to get in touch with. D= It'd have been much easier to set something like this up in the first place if it just took the permission of the King. XD;

Malach Ziev po! *ahem* I mean, King Wolf is here! xD
I think it's a great idea, and there's not much I need to do but give it my blessing, right? If so, then it's on! I suggest you rent the movie "A Knight's Tale" if you'll be making complementary comics, though. Not only is Heath Ledger a hottie, it's a great tale of urban medieval proportions--all about jousting! ^_^
I'd lend you my copy, but that might be a bit difficult. >.>
Anywho, scattered around our threads (primarily in the RP one, I believe) are various descriptions of what Dunburrow, Castle Kestrel, and Falcorum all look like, but I don't think there's a general consensus (that is, even with all that, I think we each have our own impressions of the kingdom anyways).
In short: Medieval. Start from there. The city has a couple rings, the north side built against the mountain. All pretty much standard stuff. Outer rings have shops and housing; the inner ring is very fancy and where all the important knightly buildings are, except for the public stables and the smithy. The castle is grand, but not too gay (in the exuberant sense of the word, *shakes head*), but still aweful (in the archaic sense--come on, people, really! xD).
Anywho, jousting matches were very rarely held on the castle grounds, but instead in large fields where stadiums were erected with special booths for the nobles, the king and queen especially, in the stands (they were usually towards the center, those nobles, better to spectate and stuff) and temporary(?) stables and whatever else needed to hold a jousting match were always nearby, too, so the match could go on quickly no matter what happened.
But, eh, yeah, for the whole scoop, watch A Knight's Tale. ~_^

Well I'm still here, if we are going to bring the Knights to life once more. And Wolf don't worry, we know what you mean by gay and aweful. Though if you didn't want to write the brackets I would have suggested, awe-inspiring.

I own it x3 After running into it on TV one night, loving it, and ahem, acquiring a copy thanks to the vast expanse of the intarwebs *koff* What? I am a pirate >> May or may not be what spurred this idea in the first place. As for tourney grounds, somehow I get the feeling that I should be leeching off the pottermovies for those, considering that the quidditch arena scenes were a lot better than Knight's Tale tourney scenery (more aerial shots, better overview). Well, if I screw up the imagery too badly, you're free to add a couple zeros to my Wanted poster, whatchasay? :] (And aweful is very much a legit word xD) Hrnm, considering that I'm hereby done with uni and have no more excuses to postpone this, might as well start sometime soonish. Until now the idea pretty much took the backburner due to me being stuck with essays, but they're all done now.

Graduated, or just on summer break? Either way, mazel tov!
Yeah, having the tourney grounds more inspired by Potter than Knight's would probably be good (though the phrasing does seem a bit convoluted, if you know what I mean), especially considering all the mages we have in this fair land of ours anyways. (:
Oh, and Cyborg, the brackets were the fun parts. ^_^
