Lep'Tony heard the crashing of things through the jungle. He had enough time to grab the firing lamps out of the willing paws of two squirrels before they made Blarf-tar-tar about the beach. Had Huntress waited a moment longer to leap into the air, she wouldn't have been much longer for this world.
"Belay that ye heathen, can't ye see our crew's among'em?" He had said to the eaher made gun beasts. He had beat a hasty lope back onto the main deck when he heard Hunty's hail.
Zalpho and company had gently swam the dinghe towards Hunty and company as she waded into the shallows.
"Ahoy!" Lep'Tony bellowed back, "sail an' riggin' er six marks fer d'parture lass an' standin' by!"

"Shweet," Hunty muttered to herself, not having enough air left to shout as she waded through the waves. Not exactly the most graceful return of the victorious crew and whatsit.
Oh bugger, they'd had boats.
Probably far on the other side of the island now. The path they'd come from wasn't the path they'd used to get to the temple.
"Santa!" A pair of beady eyes appeared high above the railing. "Ladder, if you please." Then again, boats were ten a penny and could be obtained anywhere, and a few were still left on board as she recalled, and at this point there were more important things to worry about than the boats anyway. To hell with that. At least the brigantine was small enough to sail in pretty shallow waters.
The rope ladder came plummeting down. Hunty had no clue just how she got up with the bag o'loot, dripping wet and breathless as she was, but up she got, and galloped to the helm at once, leaving a bunch of spluttering meepits on the deck. The bridge was one of the higher points of the ship, giving a better overview of the bay.
"H'okay," she stated, grabbing the wheel. "All hands to stations, just drop your loot somewhere, the meepitses will keep an eye on it, and you guys know I'll tan your hides if you try to do away with anything," the latter was for said meepitses. "I want this girl in a broad reach and moving before the wind gets too strong."
"At this rate the wind'll get strong pretty fast," said a hacking voice from somewhere below. Bloody Mary had caught up.
Hunty glanced at the looming temple, which was barely visible in the thick jungle but the gathering clouds above it pointed to the actual position clearly enough. "Dunno, with any luck the ominous clouds will gather until they, shall we say, reach ten on the scale of ominousness, and by that time we might be out of the bay. She's a fast ship."
"S'long as the wind doesn't start to turn," agreed the meepit, jumping on the wheel. "Look, Mr. Fluffikins is coming."
All the other blarfs had broken apart and scattered across the beach, but one of them, presumably the very first one they'd met, was bouncing across the waves like a very weird beach ball.
"I'd wondered why they felt so rubbery," the pirate admitted before turning her focus back on the ship. "But he'll have to manage on his own at this point. Now trim those sails!"
The ship turned slightly, jerking forward as the sails caught the offshore wind one after another.

Goosh saw the ladder unfurl down the side of the ship and quickened his pace. The clouds were swelling angrily, hovering around the center point of the Temple of Sue. He scrambled up the ladder and dropped loot onto the deck with a wet plop.
The Yurble sprinted to the bow of the ship and scanned the shallow waters. The crew was there somewhere, but amidst the chaos of a blarf soiree, it was hard to spy any pirates.
As if to underline their lack of time, an angry streak of lightning stabbed at the jungle, setting the canopy aflame. The fire quickly danced from one treetop to another, and plumes of black smoke rose to mingle with the clouds o' ominosity.
"Hurry!" he cried out over the sound of the excited blarfs. He returned to the main deck to help Hunty trim the sails.

((Mkay, I'll just godmode everyone back to board and end this chapter, 'cause otherwise it might drag on even longer x'3))
The ship started to move. The sails caught full wind and white water boiled around the hull as the brigantine took her course towards the open sea, the keel scratching the sand at times in the shallow waters. But she was gaining speed, and the bay went steadily deeper there, so running aground was no threat.
Bloody Mary kept a somewhat anxious eye on the crew who'd come aboard on the dinghe, fastened it and were now busy on their stations. Hunty was busy enough keeping an eye on the course.
The wind turned. And the ship gained more speed.
"Running," Bloody Mary said grimly.
"All the faster we'll get away from here," muttered the captain. The wind was now straight from behind. Which was a good thing in terms of speed but a bad thing in terms of predictability. "How's the temple doing?"
The meepit spun around. "Clouds still gathering."
"Good."
The wind got stronger. The Weewoo turned again, now on the starboard tack, and all the better that way.
The last cliffs slid by and out she was, the open sea glittering before them. Evening was drawing near. Hunty snorted contentedly, left the wheel to the helmsman again, and marched down from the bridge.
"Well, this coulda gone a lot worse," she stated.
"Quite so," agreed the meepit on her shoulder, "'cos the temple is still building up those clouds."
"What, still?"
"Eyup."
Hunty leaned on the railing, gazing back at the island. "Aw man, I was hoping to see at least some impressive fireworks. Guess we got out too fast."
"Blarf."
She blinked, then looked down. The blarf looked up. He was floating next to the ship, waves beating against his chest, and apparently using his massive tail to steer. Tentacles wiggled all around, occasionally splashing into the water.
"Well, this makes the question of polluting the sea with our leftover food all the less pressing," remarked Bloody Mary.
Hunty leaned forward. "So you really want to come along?"
"Blarf!"
"Suit yourself. Won't be a picnic, though."
"Blarf."
"Good man. Welcome aboard." She turned around with a faint grin on her face. "Good job, everyone. That turned out as one nice haul after all."
"Eyup, now all we have to do is find a port and go waste everything," remarked Bloody Mary.
"That's the point, innit?"
((I find it ironic that I expected us to be at this current point in June x3 But I so ain't complaining.))

((Ok. Time for me to get this thing I wanted to do done.))
Ze night, it falls. All is quiet.
The crew has fallen asleep and Keng had volunteered herself for the night watch. It had started raining a while ago which meant that her fur was now soaked and the rest of the crew was sleeping indoors that night (including the rodents). To make matters worse there was a light mist making visibility less than ideal. Their blarf was sleeping adrift nearby. All of it's feet up and it's head curled towards it's chest like an otter.
The sound of lapping water could be heard, but hey, she'd been able to hear that all night as the small waves splashed against the ship's hull. There was no point watching things from the crow's nest. You wouldn't be able to see enough through the mist and rain. So for now she patrolled around the Weewoo, occasionally climbing part way up a rope or pole to try to get a better look around, but to no avail.
The wooden planks creaked a bit as she walked about. Nothing out of the usual. But then there was the sound of a snap. Not something breaking, more like the sound of fingers. She looked around, her hears perking up. She had a bad feeling about this night. Another small snap. Then a few clops. Behind her. She whipped around to see. WHUMP! Thud. A large blunt object had hit her in the head. Falling her to the ground unconscious.
"Well, that wasn't to hard." "Ain't I a lovely shot for a bard?" "... Whatever, ok boys and lasses, round up what you can get and stay quiet. We could use a bit more rain, help cover up our noise." As the pirates who were unable to teleport like their Captains could climbed aboard Sarah related the order to Joe as only she could. "The rain it falls, let its sound echo through the halls hiding our passage between their walls bring it down with your calls." "As ye wish Cap'n"
The blue hands of the last speaker weaved a pattern in the air, and within moments the torrent of rain increased. Nothing worth getting up for, but it certainly was coming down hard.
When the sun came up the next morning, Keng was still out with a large bump on her head, and a good deal of their loot (but not all. Anything kept in a bedroom was safe) was gone.

Consequently, Hunty wasn't exactly in the most brilliant of moods the next morning.
"You know, it probably wasn't a good idea to leave it on the deck like that," Bloody Mary pointed out, though he made sure to keep his distance as he pointed that out.
"It probably wasn't a good idea to leave it for her to guard," grumbled the captain, prodding Keng with her boot. "You! Enough sleeptime for now. You got some explaining to do."
"How much did we save?" Bloody Mary muttered to Justice.
"'Bout a quarter."

"Errrrr." groaned Keng as she finally came to. "Wha-" she sat up and blinked a few times while her eyes came into focus. There was a throbbing pain in the back of her head. The look Huntress was giving her didn't make it feel any better. Then she noticed the deck was significantly less croweded than the last time she'd seen it. Then she remembered (vaguely) being hit in the head with something the night before, and the sound of hooves. "Oh crud." Hunty's look didn't soften at all. "Hunty, I'm so sorry I- I-" Keng was at a loss for words as her tongue tripped over her brain and her brain tripped over her tongue, the two getting so tangled that neither could function.

Hunty tilted her head. "Oh, I can live with it. But can you?"
She grunted to herself, then turned around and went off. Bloody Mary gave her a sideways glance, then dropped off from her shoulder and trotted over. His small blue face had a somewhat guilty look.
"Admittedly, we usually keep an eye on things at night as well," he said. "Just this time we'd needed a rest after all this. Ironic how this stuff always happens when we're not around."
"That's because when we are around, we prevent this stuff from happening," remarked Justice from a nearby bundle of hope, guilt also lingering in her voice. "Eh, it ain't that bad. Easy come, easy go. All you have to do is explain it to the others, they'll understand. We're probably lucky they just took the gold and didn't set the ship on fire."
"They could easily have done that if they'd wanted, though," Bloody Mary remarked grimly.
The meepits exchanged sullen looks. Then Bloody Mary stepped closer.
"What you need," he said, his voice rather solemn, "is meeting new people and seeing new places for a while. You know. Out of sight, out of mind, and people need to clear heads a little here."
Justice scowled, getting up. It had been a somewhat more blatant way to put what the captain had more or less hinted, but she had to agree. "Yeah, might be an idea. We'll take the explaining to ourselves. And Hunty'll cool off fast."

((To Keng. See, it ain't in Hunty's character to go ballistic and kick people off. It is, however, very much in her character to sortof hand them the pistol and tell them to do the honorable thing. The meepits act as plot devices to keep a few doors still open :3 though granted, I wouldn't count on them a lot. For the most part, they do what they find convenient.))

((Oooh, I see now. <--- should not read and try to respond to these things 10mins before she has to go to work.))
Keng stared at her feet for a moment as the words of the meepits were processed by her brain which was only just getting itself untangled from her tongue. She wanted to yell out that it wasn't her fault, and so, deciding there was no use in not trying to defend herself, she did, though not quite yelling.
"It wasn't my fault! I couldn't see a thing, all I could smell was rain and I can't exactly do much against a sneak attack from behind. You were all asleep sound in your beds or hammocks while I," she waved an arm spraying water off of her still wet fur "hung out in the rain and fog."
((I just can't see Keng walking away without putting in a word or two for this one.))

((Can't blame 'er x3))
Both meepits winced.
"I know, I know, but tell that to our capitano and she'll just question your ability to remain a watchman oveall," grumbled Bloody Mary, "which she in fact just did."
"Look," added Justice, her little face showing as much compassion as her otherwise rather emotionless features physically allowed. "It may not have been your fault, but you're still the one to blame. Unfair or not. If you take a break now, it'll pass as, whatchamacallit, a solitary trip for finding yourself again, and so forth."
"It'll pass as taking a hike," remarked the leader-meepit, "and cowardice. But it depends on how we'll serve it, eh?"
"I'll be able to whip up a speech of some sort," said the female, who'd always been good with words. "Now go."

"Go where?" asked Keng gesturing to the miles of ocean. She considered adding more, but decided their surroundings spoke for her.

"Take a boat," Bloody Mary said cheerily.
"The captain won't like it," said Justice, though without much concern. As meepits, anarchists, and technically-stowaways with no rank on the ship, they rarely worried about what the captain liked or didn't like.
"Maybe, but she wanted Keng off the ship, so it's her own darn fault if her logic doesn't stretch far enough to include boats in that thought," Bloody Mary remarked levelly. "Or provision, in fact. Go stock a boat with foodstuffs and the like, will you?"
The female scowled, turned around and trotted off. The semi-leader looked at Keng again.
"Usually I'd do what I always do when one of the pirates gets sent off, and send one of ours along to keep an eye on things," he said, referring to his meepitgang, "but there are very few I could recommend, and you might be away for a while, and we need them around. Unless you," and now his eyes lit up hopefully, "want Santa?"

Keng at this point saw very clearly that she would be getting off the ship. "I think I'll be fine so long as I can get a compass." she had thought of the boat, but they mostly just had row boats, and she'd been hoping for an alternative, and didn't think Hunty, or rather Huntress, (calling the person that was kicking her off the boat by their nick name didn't seem appropriate) wouldn't like that. But the meepits seemed to have made the decision for her. "And I can pack for myself, but thanks for the help I guess. It's appreciated despite the whole being kicked off thing." She at this point finally got up off the floor to go grab some of her things from her room.
