Hello, and welcome to the Basic Darkness Magic Class. The teacher of this class is Subila, and she will be sadistically happy to entertain students from all over the world (or other worlds) who are interested to learn the secrets of the darkness.

It was a very fine day in the Mages Manor. All seemed to be in perfect harmony, and everyone seemed to be mildly busy with their everyday activities. All of a sudden, dark clouds quickly hovered over the sky, eliminating what was the serene atmosphere of the place. From the darkness the clouds had made, a female voice started to echo around, making an announcement.
"Hello, this is Subila. Interested in learning the basics of Darkness Magic? Look out for the black-covered door on the basement of the Manor and enter the room it is connected to. I will teach everything I know about Darkness Magic in the said room. Anyone interested can go there in five minutes."
((Well, I'm still working on the lesson plan, so I'll have to put up a mini-roleplay for you students. Feel free to do anything while I make the plan.))

Omni heard the voice echo through the manor. Dark magic... She thought over the possibility, weighing the pros and cons, and eventually decided that she would learn a little. She shuddered a bit as she headed for the room, feeling the dark energy coming from it. She tried humming a song, and soon found herself dancing to the rhythm as she headed down the hall.

Salah jumped as she heard the announcement from nowhere. The voice was distorted by echoes, but she knew from experience that it was Subila's. Finally, they were going to have actual classes. She'd always wanted to learn more about darkness. Although she didn't have the same control over it that she did over light, it could be helpful to learn about her element's opposite.
Glancing around to see if anyone else was going - she always felt stupid being the first one - Salah was relieved to see Omni half-walking, half-dancing toward the room. Salah followed, almost unconsciously shifting the light around her to brighten the path she walked. Lack of light, even in just a dim hallway, had always made her uneasy. She supposed it was part of being a light mage.

Aly heard Subila loud and clear. Unfortunately. She dropped her dagger and swore as the fiery blade hit the carpet. With a growl, she killed the flame and examined the cut in her boot. "Curse that dark mage..." Only then did the words register. Dark magic class? "Interesting..." she mused, grinning slightly. Salah and Omni--was she dancing?--were already heading in that direction. The light mage was walking in a small, lit spot, while the zafara seemed to be humming and jigging at the same time. Aly shook her head, grinned, and twirled her dagger, the blade catching on fire once again. "Might as well know all I can about it," she said to herself, following Salah. She'd had a bad experience with a dark mage before. She didn't want to have another one again.

Omni was still humming, and dancing, when she noticed the presence of a light aura, and a fire aura.
"Oh hi guys," she greeted Salah and Aly, the song still running through her head. Aly seemed to be twirling a fire dagger, and Salah had pulled the light toward her. "Are you nervous too?" she asked.

Elycien entered the room and sat down, waving at Salah, Aly, and Omni. "You guys are here too, then?" she said, interested, and particularly surprised to see Salah. After all, the girl was a light mage.
Well, it would do all of them good to learn about other types of magic, she supposed. It was why she was here. She had always known that her own magic, shadow Thirecat magic, was rather different from that of most dark elementalists, and she was curious to find out how the dark catgirl's magic differed from her own.

"'Ey Omni and Elycien." Aly held the dagger still, the fire going out. "Not really nervous, but I'm ready if anything weird happens."

"Oh, hi guys," said Omni, noticing them for the first time. "Are you nervous too?"
"Not really," said Salah. She released her hold on the light a little self-consciously. "Why? Oh, hi," she added as Elycien joined them.

"I'm just curious," Elycien commented. "My sort of shadow magic is inborn - all Thirecats have an element... I just wonder how conventional dark magic is different." She tilted her head slightly. "It seems to make most people... well... nervous. Maybe this will help me understand why." She'd never seen the point in fearing dark magic - but then again, perhaps shadow was just different.

Aly winced. "It doesn't make me nervous, but..." She sighed. "Two run-ins with a dark mage and a dark faerie don't exactly help my experience with them. One almost drove a close friend to insanity, and another almost killed me. Plus her familiar and mine were always attacking each other, and that doesn't ever bode well." She shrugged. "I just want to get to know it better." "Besides, dark magic varies from person to person. Sometimes it's the ability to persuade and use people, sometimes it involves summoning and controlling demons, and other times, it's just a manipulation of shadows. Kinda like Salah's light magic."

Most probably, I will be able to post the introduction of the Darkness Magic by Wednesday. If not, I will by Saturday.

Behind the desk in front of the classroom, Subila emerged from the shadow of the desk. She carried a pile of documents on her left arm. "Well, I see quite a few students here... At least you're enough for me to start teaching. Let me show you the wonders of Darkness Magic from time to time." Introduction First of all, welcome to my class. For the clueless, I am Subila of the Darkness, coming from the alternate, darker version of this world. I am here to teach all of you the basics of one of the types of magic least known to you: darkness magic. Most of you might interchange darkness magic for dark magic, defined as magic bent on inflicting pain. Let me clarify that though darkness magic is mostly offensive, it is only magic that focuses on using dark energy to your advantage. Some of you might call it ‘negative chi’, some might say ‘anti-matter’, but for this class we will only refer to it as ‘dark energy’ for general agreement. Keep in mind that darkness magic uses dark energy, and that you should handle any magic with as much care as other magic. A creature from the darkness may actually enjoy dark energy as the main source of energy and food, but in your case it has catastrophic side effects and drawbacks, especially on the hands of an unguided novice. Any failed darkness spell will have adverse effects on its caster, so only cast spells that you sure will be successfully cast. To channel dark energy is fairly easy. Dark energy usually resides on any negative emotional, mental status and/or imperfection of the object. For the first two, the more evil the user is, the more amount of dark energy he contains within. However, you don’t have to be evil to use dark energy, for it always is within every creature. Like any other energy, you’ll only have to focus on releasing dark energy within you. There are many methods of doing so, but I will leave it up to you to discover. This will be your test for today. Test: Discover any method of releasing dark energy. You must be able to maintain a sufficient amount of dark energy in your hand for three seconds or I will collect all of your dark energy and choke it in you for more than a minute.

Raising her hand, she said, "Um, just so you know, I'm only here to learn the theory behind dark magic. I don't have any ability at all for non-light magic."

Subila looked at the nervous Salah as she explained that she was only in her class to learn the science behind dark magic. The half-feline pounded her hand on the desk, her eyes widened by anger.
"Of course you have the ability to cast darkness magic!" she exclaimed. "Creatures like you only blind yourself by setting up limitations like that! The principle of being able to cast dark magic is the same as the one concerning your light magic. However, it is up to you if you will manage to find the source of your very own dark energy, and channel it up to your advantage."
Subila realized something within Salah that might further explain her philosophical principle. "Your inability to cast non-light magic, for example..." she paused for a moment. "... is one of your imperfections. You may not be able to sense it, considering that you're a user of the light, but a large amount of dark energy is actually present in it. Dark energy resides in anything that hinders an object or creature from attaining its perfect state."
She let out a long sigh. "If you're only here to know about theories and stuff, then you'll have to wait for the next lesson. I have no choice but to fail you for the current test also. Pick your choice: try to channel the dark energy from one of your sources that I've just brought up, or insist on not being able to do anything beside light magic."
