"... You'll have to try again. I said, you have to hold it for three seconds. Shorter than that, and casting dark magic would be very dangerous for such sudden outburst." Subila patted her shoulder. Aly made a face and brushed her shoulder off when Subila had her back turned. This time, she opened her hand with her palm face-up, as though conjuring a flame or a fireball in it, and concentrated. Negative sources... Annoyance at Lika. Worry that she may have imagined it and could possibly be going insane. An urge to set her chair on fire because it was so darn uncomfortable. A small black flame formed in her palm, flickering and weak. Subila's concern, when she couldn't tell if it was mocking or not. The presense of MGA anywhere within three miles of her. Not having eaten since last night. A constant nagging feeling that there was something wrong that she should be paying attention to. The mere presense of dark magic, no matter what Subila called it, because she still didn't know all about it and it brought up memories of her last experience with it. The flame wavered once more, but quickly grew to a respectable size. Aly gathered all those thoughts and pushed them towards her hand. The flame increased until it was a mirror image of her usual fire. 1...2...3... She swiftly closed her fist, killing the flame, and grinned. "Did it!"

Subila watched as Elycien made her own trials. At first, she was able to release a dark ball on her hand, but Subila wasn't satisfied. Though the ball contained dark energy, she could tell it wasn't entirely made of it. Still, Elycien quickly dismissed the ball and made another one, this time using only the energy the half-feline wanted to see. Subila turned around as Aly retry the test. Judging by the energy she released, Subila could tell she was one of the sources Aly used. Not minding about lending her capacity of the energy, she smiled instead. "Well, at least you two passed just before time ran out", she said. She reached for the dark energy that almost escaped through her hands and drained it into herself. Then, she forged two dark badges from it and gently placed them on the right arms of the two. "We shall continue into the second part of today's lesson." Darkness Spells (Part One) Much as spells are concerned, there are many spells that use dark energy. These are divided into types of spells depending on their way of reaction. Here is the incomplete list of them: • Psychic – the most familiar type of spells that can use dark energy instead of mental energy. A psychic spell uses the mind to do paranormal activities. Very small amounts of dark energy present in every object due to their imperfect form can be manipulated by channeling dark energy and attaching them to each other. • Pure Darkness – the least known type of spells that uses pure dark energy. These usually incorporate with other objects to ‘act on their own free will’. These spells are also very dangerous, as the caster has no control over the objects the dark energy merges with. • Dark Psychic – another form of psychic spells that not only uses dark energy, but forces it into another object. These spells are mostly bent on inflicting psychological pain, and are usually used to manipulate living beings. • Dark Summoning – another familiar type of spells. A caster can recall a creature from the alternate version of the world he is in by channeling dark energy to form a portal connecting the two worlds. These spells are the most energy-consuming spells, and also do not guarantee the caster’s complete control over the summoned creatures. Some spells amplify the input to give off a larger amount of output, and vice versa for other spells. The amount of dark energy needed depends on the type of darkness spell. The types of spells above are arranged in increasing amount of inputted dark energy needed to release the same proportional amount of dark energy. Keeping this in mind, one should practice spells in the first type first to be able to handle the distribution of dark energy more efficiently. Today's test will determine how well you can identify spells which fall on what type of darkness spells. Try to categorize the following spells into what type of darkness spells they fall on: - Dark Spirit
- Telekinesis
- Dark Weapon Enchantment
- Mind Shot
(NOTE: Due to the possibility of cheating in this test, I require everyone to PM me the answers as if writing on a test sheet. )

(You know we could still technically cheat, right? XD ...No, I'm not. What made you think innocent 'lil me would? ^^) Aly listened quietly (for once), hand gripping the arm of her chair tightly. The mere thought of any of those spells made her stomach turn. Well, you came here to learn about it, so stop being weak, she berated herself mentally. Still, she was relieved when Subila didn't ask for them to cast the spells...or for any volunteers for a demonstration. "Quick question," the girl asked. "Is it possible to use Dark Summoning to summon an exact shadow of an existing person?"

"Yes," Subila bluntly said. "... If you mean shadow by his Alternate, that is. To be exact, summoning a shadow of your own is one of the easiest and least energy-consuming Dark Summoning spells."

Aly nodded. And one of the most annoying. She scribbled down answers and handed the paper over to Subila, fiddling with her dagger.

Salah wrote her name on the top of the paper, frowning at the names of the spells. It didn't look too hard, but she hated being given something as likely to be insignificant as a commonly used spell name.
She printed most of the first answer neatly before becoming impatient and rushing through the rest.

Omni tried to take notes on the different categories and spell names as fast as she could, before she could forget what they were. The fact that she had stubby 'fingers' plus that she was a slow writer/note-taker in the first place were not benefiting her. She dropped her writing utensil and quickly picked it back up before she continued to write notes. She didn't get extensive info, but she was sure she had enough to get the answers right. She grabbed another piece of paper and started righting her answers, taking enough time to make sure they were legible.

((Sorry for the three-month-old delay. ^^; ) Without further ado, Subila quickly channelled some of the dark energy into her students' paper. Moments later, the sheets quickly moved away from their respective owners, floating towards the half-feline. Subila then looked briefly at the answers. "You're all... not half-bad. All of you got perfect scores. I assumed you'd fail at this point, but you're now making me interested." Dark badges then emerged out of the darkness that covered most of the room, placing themselves to the students. Darkness Spells (Part Two) Many of you may now be asking how, when, where and why you need darkness spells. For today, I will tell you a bit about the importance of the darkness spells, and some essential information for their optimized uses. As we learned earlier, dark energy is needed to be able to cast darkness spells, and is present on every object and creature. You may have wondered how the latter came to be true. I can simply explain that into three words: Nothing is “purely” perfect. Pure perfection is biased and untrue. How it came to be, no one knows. Darkness magic makes use of the imperfection that is present in everything, and shapes it into something of utmost use. You may also say that it changes the negative attributes of the objects around. Only by using these spells together with other forms of spells would an object be perfect “purpose-wise”. Take, for example, a block of wood. A fire mage would be able to utilize that object by casting a small fire spell to turn the wood into a torch. An earth mage with exceptional magical knowledge can regenerate the wood back into a tree. A psychic mage (one that uses psychic powers like pure levitation) may at least bring out a use into the wood by using it as a speeding bullet against an attacking predator. However, the three mages I’ve used as an example have only used the block’s ability and attributes to their advantages. They could not use other factors such as the block’s inability to expand or its lack of malleability to utilize the block’s purpose. A darkness mage, however, can use the aforementioned factors and many more. How? I’ll explain further. Everything follows according to the energy channels. As you may already know (or not, depending on what time you actually existed), there are two types of chi that exist in everything around us: the Yang, which is the positive and usable type, and the Yin, the negative and supposedly unusable. In the realm of magic, these two are co-related to how spells react to every object because the two exists in every object. Most of the time, the Yang is the only one to give out a reaction, being the usable type. For example, a burning wood emits light and heat due to the Yang being converted into Yin together with the two factors. Most people disregard the Yin’s capability because they lived with the fact that it is unusable. Returning to the burning wood, the Yin exists on the ash and darkness that envelop the light and heat after some time. Darkness magic was utilized to be able to control the Yin, more known as dark energy, around every object. Some of you may be baffled already. I’ve used ashes and darkness as an example of the factors lying on the Yin channel, but some of you may have thought, “Wait, they still have some bits of Yang left, right?” Yes, they do. Like I’ve said, the Yang and Yin exist in every object around us. However, objects with very limited use often contain higher amounts of Yin compared to Yang’s. Ash and darkness are good examples of these objects. Inanimate objects that do not move by itself (a wheelbarrow, for example) are the usual targets of darkness mages (in fact, they are the objects which are the easiest to manipulate, and are also the usual practice targets of novice darkness mages). Take note that in darkness magic, one manipulates the imperfection that lies under every object to be converted into something of virtually good use. Test: A water mage uses an ample amount of water from a far-placed river to make a small lake near her. Give out certain factors that a darkness mage could get dark energy (Yin) from to be used against the water mage. The person with the most number of factors will get the perfect score, and the score of others will be based on it.

Omni was fairly confused as Subila talked about Yin and Yang, as she had actually never heard anything about that kind of thing before in her life. At least, not in terms of ordinary objects and materials and whatnot. Though she felt that she got the gist of it. She didn't like the idea of using the highest score as the baseline, as she had been taught not to compare people to eachother like that. Even when she took tests it would be to see how she, herself, progressed. Although, considering who her teacher was, it made a kind of sense to her that such a test would be done.
Omni raised her paw. "Should we focus on what it can't do in it's current form, as a liquid? Water can, after all, be changed between it's forms fairly easily.
"And is this another written test?"

Subila hated people who would go into specific details too much, but since Omni was her student she had no choice but to answer. "Focus on the situation, not only on the water itself. Though that may be the main object in this scene, there are other things concerned here. This test is made to pull out your creativeness and resourcefulness in detecting objects you can put to use with Darkness Magic."
Subila pulled out another set of paper sheets. "... And yes, this is a written test."
