So a lot of stuff has been thrown around about how the guilds need something that's not RP based, and I've been thinking about a guild karma war. I've been debating how it might function differently from our forum's regular karma war and.. the first snag I hit is numbers.
The guilds are likely to have varying numbers of people. A few ways of dealing with this is giving the smaller teams a boost in how much karma they start with, or spreading the Merc's out among the smaller guilds, and each merc brings X amount of karma with them, or something (will vary depending on how many mercs are available).
We could call it a guild tournament (like a friendly jousting tournament). Maybe people could be matched up for karma duels or something...
There was one or two minigame puzzles last Karma war I think and I would very much like to expand on that more for this one with many small minigames. Maybe even with selected champions for each guild and the games would range through all kinds of skill sets from problem solving to writing to art (note, I would keep the art very basic to ensure that even people who can't draw can participate. Eg, stick man mayhem might be an art mini game)
So I'm just gauging interest and opinions right now. Would of course also need a mod to set the karma and add/subtract from it for the minigames.

I wouldn`t mind joining, but the art aspect I couldn`t participate in much, as I do not have a scanner.

Do you have any sort of art program? You could even use something like art pad to do the art things. I want to make the mini games as accessible to everyone as possible. (hence why it might be stick figure based even)

Aw, why'd you have to compare it to jousting? I now got this glorious mental image involving a lance and the blarf, and you know I don't pass up such inspiration xD
On a more serious note, I like this idea. The inequality in guild numbers could probably be overcome by random non-guild supporters, I'm fairly sure there's plenty of people out there who sympathise with pirates or ninjas or knights or whoever, but aren't part of the guild (any more/yet/never felt like signing up and being active, take your pick). This is unlikely to be about winning anyway. Come on, someone tell me who won the last Guild Wars. Anyone? Guildstuff hasn't really been seriously competitive to start with. So long as we have something to do, I think people will be happy.
...am now very, very, very tempted to draw a plotcomic-series depicting a medieval jousting tournament between the guilds hosted by the Knights >>

I'm cool with picking a host to base all the events on. The knights would be appropriate if they're willing to take the title, if not I'd like to volunteer Spacefleet, but a Knight's All Guild Jousting Tournament would be pretty cool.
*shows up in mech suit* ... whadaya mean no space armour with cannons?

Ooh, just thought of another idea. Could use neopets games for highscores (screenshot based maybe?). Lots of different ways this could go the more I think about it.
edit: I think I'm starting to lean more towards a minigame tournament than a karma based game, just to keep it seperate from karma wars.

Attack of the game boards? A mage's experiment has gone wrong and now all the world's game boards have teeth and hop around biting people?
LOL at NinTendo WF though XD XD XD

This sounds like a pretty cool idea. If we're going with the minigames on the NTWF (as opposed to Neopets game scores) who says only one guild has to host the games? Couldn't each guild have a certain number of themed games to play?
We'd have to decide how many, and then come up with the games themselves, but it would be more fun to have every guild contribute something. I already have an idea for the mages...
But if we go through with the jousting tournament... How exactly would that work? It sounds cool in concept, but we need a way to turn it into a game, don't we?

Yes we do. Now that we have the dice we should be able to do something with that. Maybe a rock paper scissors game where 1,2,3 are each made equivalent to rock paper and scissors? There's lots to be done with the dice. It would be nice for everyone to host a bit. Maybe 3 games per guild? (if games repeat don't worry about it). We could then spend x amount of time per guild in which case everyone has x amount of time to complete all two or three games hosted by that particular guild.
And yes.. the board game thing does sound like ZOMG now that you mention it...
