ooc|| Ahh, a good old-fashioned Neopets role-play. If you can help it, keep your humanly/llamanly selves out of this! And stick your own Neopet characters in. xD I find role-plays much more enjoyable when at least somewhat developed characters jump in? Absolutely anyone is free to join. ...Please. 8'D Don't feel pressured to have any kind of post size... long or short, you're participating and that's all that I'm asking. n_nDark clouds hide the sun, Rain comes down and the rivers run. Rivers run down to the sea, And when you've got your liberty... Don't you want to sail away?... The sails in the harbor flapped like gargantuan gull wings against the glass-cut sky. A bell tolled on a far off ship, signaling its intention to make port at a vacant dock. The seawater lapped up the sides of the ships, white foam reaching out as if even it wanted to climb aboard to sail on its own beauty. The mid-morning sun warmed the small port and the surface of the vast sea with its white-yellow light, casting heavy, crisscrossing shadows this way and that from beams, buildings, masts, and bodies. At the end of a long dock stood a charming Xweetok, mumbling a gay tune: Sail away, Ladies, sail away... He dressed in a fine sailing coat and hat. He even had the seafarer's beard: crisp, black, trim mutton chops. Well alright, maybe it wasn't the seafarer's beard. But it certainly made him look more gentlemanly, more civilized... Perfect. The Xweetok looked out at his ship, or yacht rather. No, maybe it was a sailboat... yes, today he fancied a sailboat. Flicking his black, scraggly tail he eyed the nearest schooner. It was small, which wouldn't be a problem considering how crowded the harbor was. If it just... happened to disappear behind a couple of the larger ships' sails... no one would notice. For long. He narrowed his eyes and grinned a familiar grin. The handsome sailor never seen in these parts eyed his bounty and calculated his catch. He would wait for the noon rush when everyone is scarfing down supper--either in the restaurants, saloons, or on their own boats--too busy to pay any attention to anything other than their selfish stomachs. A quiet grumble groaned from the pit of his belly. The Xweetok's grin melted into a frown and he filled his empty pockets with his paws. He flicked his tail again, a twitch he acquired long ago from who remembers when or where. Some place out pirating, no doubt. Giving the schooner one last sneer he turned around and walked the length of the dock back to land. Fishermen and market-goers flocked the dirt street, kicking up dust and debris so everything below knee-level had a fine, sienna hue. But what is this? A shiny Neopoint on the ground? The 'sailor' tried to decipher the markings on the coin from a distance, but as he stepped closer, a broad smile flagged his round face. Not a point--a Dubloon! Immediately the Xweetok reached down and swiped the unguarded treasure from the dirt and turned around as he pocketed it--only to collide abruptly with someone, sending them to the ground.

A green Gelert flew to the dirt. Shaking her head, she snarled at the Xweetok who had knocked her down. "Do you mind?" she said, dusting herself off. She lifted a paw to her emerald hair and removed a piece of seaweed that had put itself there when she fell. She shuddered as she realized that this Xweetok was of the upper class. He could call the Defenders on her simply for bumping into him, and she'd be on the move again. No different from usual. She glared at him before turning away, intent on picking up the white bag that had been thrown from her paw as she fell.

"Sorry!" he yelled, mostly out of sheer surprise from the bump. Whether or not he was sincerely sorry remained questionable. He looked down at the Gelert and stared at her vibrant hair, bred for beauty no doubt. The Xweetok was indeed sorry.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he repeated as he scrambled on his hips, his feet planted firmly in the dirt. He didn't know what to do with himself, whether he should help her up or duck from an inevitable slap across the face. The flash of white between passing shadows glinted in the corner of his eye and he scooped up the purse before noticing she was very capable of reaching for it herself. "Did I hurt you?" he offered the bag to her with an outstretched arm, grimacing at the dust splotches all over it.
If there's one thing this sorry excuse for a sailor learned, it was manners in front of a woman. That he learned from his mother.
Whipping his hat from his head with his other hand he raised his thick eyebrows with concern, perhaps for the Gelert, perhaps for himself. All he knew was he didn't want to get slapped. ...That he learned from his mother too.

The Gelert's demeanor softened as she realized that this Xweetok meant her no harm. She accepted her bag from his outstretched paw and smiled. "Sorry," she said. "Thanks for the help. I'm Shelona, by the way." Shelona extended her paw to the Xweetok, inviting him to shake it. She was glad that this Neopet, at least, seemed friendly.

A queer thought crossed his mind. He was supposedly one of the most notorious thieves of the aristocratic class (or so he liked to think,) yet she didn't recognize his face... Unfortunately he failed to see the truth beyond her beautiful hair, but at least noticed she recognized his facial hair and clothing to be that of the upper class. Still, he had no use in fooling this Gelert with his costume... though it couldn't hurt if she had some pretty jewels stashed away.
He gently took her hand and gave her a deep bow, cradling his hat in the crook of his other arm. "Miss Shelona," he repeated and gently kissed the back of her hand as he'd seen so many fancy-pants nitwits do on the street to their lady friends and friendly ladies. "You may call me Bodanthe," he lied through his smile, taking on the name of his own Piraket. ...Where was that blasted thing? Carefully and without raising his head he scanned the crowd and palm trees around the bay area. Not a red-feathered bird in sight. Off stealing peanuts or pistachios no doubt...

Squinting the shadow Ogrin looked out over the harbour. The sea was a vibrant blue, reflecting the glare from the sun. "There's plenty of boats in the harbour Dash," she turned to the Faerie Seti perched on her sholder, "what do you think? Surely one of them would be willing to give us passage." Many pets had remarked on the similarity between pet and petpet. The two were nearly identical, Summer even had the Faerie Seti markings under her eyes. Not many knew that the similarity was due to a strong magical working that had left them telepathically linked. Dash shoved a candy into his mouth. " Where are we going next? Not home? You're not tired already? " "No, not home" Summer smiled faintly "I don't know, where ever the sea takes us." A passing Kougra gave them a funny look and Summer blushed. "You need to work harder at thought-speaking to me," Dash chuckled, "I don't want you put in a crazy house. Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness you know." "Haha. You're a real riot Dash. Now, I want to go and talk to some of those sea captains. And Dash, I need you to look pathetic and/or irresistably cute. We're going after free passage remember." "Oh, do we have to do it now? Can't we have lunch first?" Dash turned his most pathetic gaze on Summer. A lighthearted laugh burst from Summer's lips. "You are such a guts, you know that" She turned around and headed into the crowd, away from the docks.

ooc: Please don't kill me for joining a months old roleplay. A thin, gangly blue and brown mass of fur half stumbled, half fell down a gangplank that was attached to a beautiful luxury ship. The form picked itself up out of the dirt and stood up, brushing itself off smuggly and turning out to be a tall, thin blue Kyrii. Her thick mane of hair was quite dirty, and she was wearing only an old sack as a dress and a quilted mass of unwanted cloth around her shoulders. "If I ever see you within ten yards of this ship again," a sailor, the one that had shoved her off the ship, shouted, "I'll take you out to the middle of the ocean and throw you overboard myself!" "Oh, I'd just like to see you try! If you tried that, you'd be bobbing like a cork before you'd have a chance blink." The Kyrii yelled back, followed by some choice name calling. She put on a face of mock sadness and said, "Oh no, outwitted by Lori again. Whatever shall I do?" Loranigh smiled sweetly up at the sailor, who was steaming, and ran away laughing. Loranigh wasn't angry she had been thrown off the ship. She hadn't any plans when she first boarded it, and was pround of the week-and-a-half she had managed to stay on without being caught. She had hid in the captin's very quarters, and managed to learn some interesting yet trivial information. "Maybe I'll be able to sell it to some needy pirate." She thought happily. Lori was a street pet, one born of an uncommon talent of getting into trouble just for the sake of fun. Though her clothing wasn't extravagant, and she was occasionaly forced to beg for food, she wasn't unhappy. She'd had a taste of that greener grass, and found it unpleasantly boring without the brown patches. Even, one might say, a boring and monochomatic paradise. The Kyrii started to slow down, but dashed forward again in surprise as she spotted the sailor and a guard chasing her. "Why that little tattle tale." she though, even though she was grinning. She sprinted gleefully around a corner, plans of escape swirling in her head.

(Me too... I've been wanting to join a Neopets roleplay forever, but didn't see this one until now... Hmm, who to roleplay...?)
Sharillan tripped, and found herself flat on her face, right in the path of a blue Kyrii. She had been travelling for a while now, her ebony fur having grown lighter with the color of travelers' dust, and she was tired. She hadn't had a night's rest in several days, and had only had the chance to grab a few moments' rest before having to have to run again.
She groaned, and blinked a few times, exposing her eyes, which were several colors. These were the reasons why she'd had to run. These were why her home and family had been destroyed. Sharillan groaned and began to pick herself up. Nobody here knew who, or what, she was. She had to hide, and perhaps she'd catch up on all of the sleep she'd lost.

Loranigh glanced behind her, and noticed that she had managed to get a little ways away from her persuers; at least she couldn't see or hear them yet. She looked ahead again, but she was too late to notice the being in the path. She attepted to jump, but her foot was caught on pet's arm. She tumbled and rolled, and somehow ended up upside-down against a wall.
Lori frowned, rolled back onto her feet, shook herself off, and stalked over. "What're you lying in the path for!" she said, crossing her arms indignantly, "Somebody's going to run down here, too busy escaping from the certain boredom of the judicial system to see you, and trip." Nontheless, she put paw down to the pet to help her up.

((yay, people!)) Summer heard a shout of "Stop, Theif! and turned to look. A guard and a sailer were chaing a thin blue Kyrii. Dash turned and followed Summer's gaze. His ears perked up as he saw the Kyrii disappear around a corner. 'Do you want to interfeare?' Dash asked, his tail wagging excitedly. "No I do not. And anyway, I thought you wanted food." 'You are a sad and boring person Summer' The small Seti jumped off Summers sholder and flew after the Kyrii. "Dash. Dash, come back here!" Summer hissed, "Dash you are not the one who keeps on getting thrown in jail for interfearing. Come back here right this instant." Summer growled softly as Dash ignored her. 'When I get my hands on you, I'm going to murder you Dash'. Summer wound her way through the crowd, trying to catch up to her wayward petpet.

A red Xweetok held up her parasol, trying to block the sun that covered the harbor from her chocolate brown fur. She was wearing a long scarlet dress that billowed out at the waist, typical Neovian style, and a hat with a large brim to block out the sun. Eve's brown eyes darted left and right; she seemed to be looking for something.
Her eyes stopped as she saw what she was looking for. A blue Kyrii, stopped at a corner, helping another Neopet up. Eve walked towards the Kyrii, being careful not to trip over the ruffles of her skirt.

Ooc: I was like, "Wait, why does a red Xweetok named Eve sound familiar... *thinks* Oh." Hi, Ariana!
"Thanks," Sharillan said, putting a paw to her head as she allowed the Kyrii to help her up. She swayed somewhat, a tad bit dizzy, and looked at the newcomer. She winced. She should really watch where she was going, and she hated the fact that she had probably put this pet at an inconvenience.
The Gelert really needed to get more rest.
She was about to introduce herself, but all of a sudden angry shouts rang out from behind them, echoing through the street despite the noise and bustle of the crowded area. "What on Neopia...?"

Loranigh hoisted her up, then though she should probably be sitting, by the way she was swaying. She was wondering if the Gelert was possibly drunk, but the thought was cut off as she, too, heard shouts. She glanced around quickly, hoping to find some way out or something to hide behind, but there wasn't one. Lori became very annoyed at the fact that she had became distracted, and now had to go to the last resort.
Instead of attempting to run away, she walked towards the sailor and the gaurd, speaking angrily to them in a sharp, exotic language. The guard was confused, but the sailor skidded to a stop in surprise as he listened. From a hidden fold in dress, she pulled a delicately engraved ring with smooth round ruby on the top. She showed it to her persuers, who looked between it and Loranigh with shock plain on their faces. They talked in that exotic language a moment more, Lori's tone sharp and annoyed and the others' strangly submissive.
She put the ring back in the hidden pocket and waved the guard and the sailor off. They bowed, and walked away. Lori stalked back to the Gelert, furiously muttering, now in English. She desperately hoped noone had noticed or understood her.

ooc| Hi, Sabre! xD
Eve walked up to the Kyrii, her hands clapping slowly. A look of awed bewilderment was set on her face. "Nice work, Lori," she said, smiling. "I've been waiting quite a while to see you again. I brought it with me." Without a thought, she reached into the folds of her skirt into a hidden pocket and removed a scroll, which she held out in lacy gloved hands to Lori.
