My Gallery-oI've been trying to win the spotlight for a long time, and I've come to the conclusion that the judges simply hate me. I've seen galleries win with a ridiculously unoriginal theme and layout made PRE-MADE BY FANSITES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD and yet they win, and I don't. Whoopee. Oh yes, there's still the things I still need. Could it be that it's simply not complete enough? I doubt it.

Laurens, I have no idea why you don't win. Your gallery theme is great and the list of items that you still need is ridiculously small compared to those you have. The only explanation I have is that you still don't have collected enough. I got the impression that most galleries that win only need one or two more items until they're complete.
Oh, by the way, I've been wondering about something. When you submit your lookup for User Lookup of the Week, you get bumped to the bottom of the queue each time you submit. Is it the same for the other spotlights, like galleries? The main question is, should you resubmit after a while or does it destroy your chances?

TNT seems to like galleries to be complete or only a few items shy of being complete. You'll get there.

TNT seems to like galleries to be complete or only a few items shy of being complete. You'll get there. Yeah, well, I've heard differently. Some time ago I sent in a question about pre-made layouts in Gallery Spotlights, and the reply said that layouts should actually be made by the gallery owner, but if you have a really outstanding item collection, then the judges may overlook that you didn't make the layout yourself. And then, merely weeks later, I see this for 300 and this for 303. Can you understand my frustration? And then there's also this Editorial question: With a 225/256 (86%) ratio of items, and a lot of them too, I don't understand why someone with a 45-item Spyder gallery and a layout from Sunnyneo can be chosen over me.

You might have more items, technically, but you have a much lower percentage of the total items of your gallery than she does. She has 95.75% of the total items, and the only items she's missing are very difficult to find and worth over 20 million NP.
I understand your frustration, but TNT has been very clear that the completeness of the gallery is more important than the layout.
EDIT: I've decided to finally stop being a lazy bum and actually make a layout for my gallery. Does anyone know of a page that could help me with that? I know CSS basics, but I'm not sure about the variations that may be required for gallery coding.
And I think I might make a gallery on a side. You can submit those to the spotlight, yes, and request that the trophy ends up on your main?

You just bought 121 water items??? Wow!
Sorry Larissa, I have no idea about your questions, but if anybody knows a good CSS guide for gallery layouts, I'm going to take a look at it as well. I've come to the conclusion that if I want to pull through with this storytelling gallery, I'll have to include short summaries of the stories in the background, since I can't edit separate descriptions for each section. So I will need to do my own layout.
Man, this is going to be a lot of work!

Oh, and here I was thinking you had gone on a shopping spree. I was already surprised at how you had managed to buy that many items in one day

My best shopping spree was the first day, with all the cheap water items xDD This day my best was when I bought the whole Underwater map and some other items together

I found www.neopets.com/~CSSish, but I've never been very good with coding, so I'm not sure just how useful it is. ^^' So far I seem to be best at modifying an existing template, rather than creating my own from scratch. My gallery layout was basically my own graphics fitted into a Sunnyneo coding framework, and my brother helped me to code my website. And yes, Larissa, side account galleries can be entered into the spotlight, with credit going to the main account. ^^ I'm sure I read it in an editorial somewhere. *too lazy to search it up*
