[glow=red,2,300]I was told to guage interest. *licks finger and sticks it in the air* Guaging.[/glow] INTERESTED! I've actually been trying to write an intro post, but so far all of my attempts have ended up being... disturbing. (Why did they all involve dozens of corpses?!) GW3 does not need to be a super-dark RP, after all.

[glow=red,2,300]I was told to guage interest. *licks finger and sticks it in the air* Guaging.[/glow] Which is to say, to gauge interest about GW3 starting somewhere about say, tomorrow. Or in two days. Or next week at the very latest. In other words, NaNo should be over by now, what's the general stand on midterms/upcoming holidays/overall level of busy-ness among our dear guildpeople?

I've got about a week before all the big stuff. My family are holding an early Christmas, I'm heading away for a roadtrip, then it's actual Christmas, New Years, and then I go camping for three weeks and THEN it's a bit more freedom and then off to Aussie to see Scar.

Honestly, I probably have WAY more free time than I should - I don't have anything important to do. Rest of the month is free for me (although I'll probably be doing some travelling), and I think most of January is free for me as well. I do have a class one day a week starting sometime next year, but I'm not sure when - probably late January/early February.
...wow, that was a tad far ahead.
Anyone want to borrow some of my free time? *brick'd*

If it started tomorrow, I might have to knock myself out in a few weeks, but other than that I'd be good.

I am totally overwhelmed with work until the 9th.
So if it starts before then, I of course participate during those few days, kick myself for it later and don't sleep. =D
Kwoi, I would LOVE some of your free time. But I'm participating with or without time. ^^

Let's see. The past few days have probably been the most stressful of the whole semester for me (which is largely my fault, but that's another matter), but we're about to enter the dead space between the end of classes and the beginning of finals. Last day of class is this upcoming Wednesday, and... *Looks up* *Sees caution floating around* *Opens the door and tosses it out*
Sunday would probably be best for me, but I could start tomorrow or Saturday as well.

A handful of hours ago I was this close to posting something alone the lines of 'So. It's December. Just thought you'd like to know. *raises eyebrow pointedly*', so definitely interested yes please I am in the mood for further insanity. =D I need to remind myself of who my character is and figure out what her goals are, but hey, I am in. Motivations can be figured out in hindsight, after all. Any time is good. =D Except actually starting on my Sunday would be really inconvenient because I can't use the computer but I can catch up. Just start it soon. =D Yes? ... Unnecessarily large amount of inane grinning in that there post. >.>; Sincerest apologies and such. [glow=red,2,300]I was told to guage interest. *licks finger and sticks it in the air* Guaging.[/glow] INTERESTED! GW3 does not need to be a super-dark RP, after all. You think you have a problem? All of my vague ideas of introductions feature Fred playing a banjo. Yeah. A banjo. If that ain't terrifying I don't know what is.

So... ... I haven't done Guild Wars before. Anything I should know before jumping in?

If that ain't terrifying I don't know what is. NO! NOT THE BANJO! *scurries up the nearest tree* *brick'd* You haven't really achieved (silly) disturbing until you have a group of Meepits playing Danse Macabre on kazoos, though. (...and now that I've mentioned it, I'm probably going to have to include it somehow.) So... ... I haven't done Guild Wars before. Anything I should know before jumping in? NEW BLOOD! THIS IS MOST EXCELLENT! *brick'd, shuriken'd, cutlass'd, sword'd, fireball'd, cash'd in, laser'd, steampunk'd and probably dead'd* *ahem* Anyway! You don't really need to know anything special to jump in. That said, having knowledge of past GW continuity will be helpful - and might even give you ideas. Fortunately, the original GW and GW2 each have summaries (which border on parody as well). Unfortunately(?), the summaries are kinda long. GW SummaryGW2 SummaryYou can also read the actual RPs if you want (they're in the Memory Lane board), but that'd be REALLY time- and energy-consuming.

*adjusts glasses, shuffles papers and otherwise makes a point of looking lawyer-y* Guys, something I just realized. As of right now, the Steampunk and the Mercenaries guilds don't, in fact, exist.
I mean, we have all always agreed that in order to take part in a GW (or any guild activity), you have to be part of a guild, right? And being part of a guild means that your guild leader knows that you're part of that guild and has accepted the fact (much like with bloidal marriages, can't be one-sided). And each guild has a list of members. Except the Steampunk and Mercenaries, who currently don't have HQs and therefore also a list of members. So if someone could get that organized so as to not face a 'dude, which guild are you in again?' into the second page of the GW, it'd be nice.
In fact, since we're on the topic, how many of the guilds have leaders as of now? I'm here, Vyt seems to be active...ish... but Strife and Wolf have been ded for well over a year and I've never figured out who leads the mages, and it just gets messier from that point forth >>

Factoid: GW2 was 707,000-someodd words (including all the forum coding, but that couldn't count for more than a few thousand words overall). As a point of reference, all of the first five Harry Potter books combined come to 717,000-someodd words. *adjusts glasses, shuffles papers and otherwise makes a point of looking lawyer-y* Guys, something I just realized. Not to mention the GW2 is a lot more epic to read :3 Harry Potter never had pirates and impending apocalypse. Well, they did, but not with the actual horsemen. *adjusts glasses, shuffles papers and otherwise makes a point of looking lawyer-y* Guys, something I just realized. As of right now, the Steampunk and the Mercenaries guilds don't, in fact, exist. I have taught this one well :3 Congrats, you have now claimed the rights to be prodded about guildleaderly Brethren Court business any time of the day, night, or space-time-continuum gaps. Well, this still leaves the rest of the gang, and a guild needs a leader, lest they get ruthlessly subdued under a random pirate captain's paw in any given GW. The Knights seem to be fully dead (they have an NPC king, but someone has to play the NPC as well), the Mages have been disorganized and pirateyfied longer than I can remember, the Mercs had a leadership election back on the day that never got anywhere and I barely see active mercs around these days, Vyt seems to be active enough with the Ninjas but hasn't logged in since November so we've no clue how things are with him activity-wise. Toka seems to have the emerging Steampunk thing under control, at least. I'm not saying that we absolutely must hold elections before GW3 (the most influential people generally emerge and change mid-RP anyway), but y'know, it'd be nice if we got it sorted out. We're still talking about a Guilds' War, not War of a Ragtag Bunch of Random Guildspeople. The latest guild RP tried something like that and kinda sorta died.
