"Someone say my name?"
Jakie smiled serenely at the familiar pair of ninja as if she had not just appeared out of nowhere. Her ever-present white kitten was actually not present, for once. She was wearing a jacket over her usual ninja attire as well as a backpack. One would think she already knew she was going on a mission.
"Early, isn't it? What did the Superior want?"

Somewhere outside Mage Manor, a young man clad in a long, hooded brown cloak sat on the boughs of a nearby tree, watching the structure with his binoculars. He had detected an inordinate amount of magical energy emanating from that place - and he didn't like the chills it sent up his spine.
Elements were manipulated. Humans rubbed shoulders with strange hybrids and creatures that weren't even human at all, but could still use magic. He could imagine that reality would be extremely skewed in a place like that.
Humans were the only creatures capable of reason in this world, and thus were the only ones who had the right to use magic. Why should non-humans, who would have less reason or maybe even none at all, be allowed to learn magic? Who knows, a new dominant species might arise, eclipsing the humans and throwing the entire world into chaos. People had the reason to keep the world in order; why change that? Everything's usually in order with humans in charge.
Usually.
He threw back his hood, revealing a head of dark red hair that stood out like a beacon, and climbed down the tree after stuffing his binoculars into a large pocket in his cloak. As much as he wanted to begin the raid now and rid that manor of the impurities that tainted its aura, he knew that a place as large as that would also have many mages who wouldn't go quietly.
Turning on the spot with a swish of his cloak, he vanished.
* * *
"Wait 'till the Leader hears about this."
He reappeared in front of her, nearly losing his balance. Was this...a beach of some sort?
"Hello, Evandra," he said, bowing as low as he could. "I think I have found the hiding place of those 'illegal' mages and their 'illegal' pets. But we will need reinforcements."

"Oh! Jakie!" PFA blinked, looking at the ninja who had appeared as if from nowhere. Ninjas--PFA had come to realize--had a habit of doing that, even to other ninjas. "He has another mission for us, apparently. He said something about strange activities, and scouts getting attacked..."
PFA once again found herself hoping it wasn't another rogue. Chasing down rogues was never any fun.
"Uncle and I were sent to check it out, and... um, we were hoping you could come with us." That sounded awkward to PFA, but she decided it would have to do. "Oh, and Bettyming's supposed to come, too. You know where she is?"

Nature was going to be ok with Omni and as they went to get some food, Celestial could finally look forward to a well-deserved rest. But the dragon's words preyed on her mind, refusing to let her surrender to the urge to bask on the beach and let the afternoon sun warm her wings. She needed to do some research at the library and find exactly who these hunters could be.
There was something wrong here, like somebody who meant the Manor's inhabitats a lot of harm. Overlord felt it like a splatter of black paint across the rainbows of the thoughs of the mages.
Celestial, there is somebody here. My empathy can make out a hostile presense very close.
If you don't mind, check what it is or who they are. Try to stay unseen Celestial told him.
Overlord flew off her shoulder and landed on the ground. He shook his head and watched as the crown slid off his head. It fell into the dust where Celestial picked it up and put it into her belt pouch. Satisfied, Overlord took off into the sky, following the evil presense.
His search led back to the beach where Nature was before Celestial took her back to Mage Manor. There were two people there, a man and a woman who were intently discussing something. The woman was obviously the superior as the man was bowing to her. Perching on the nearest tree to them, Overlord listened carefully in case they would say something else.
Celestial watched Overlord go and headed into the Manor itself, heading for the library. However a growl from her stomach forced her to prioritise. She needed some food.
The Manor responded by taking her to the dining hall where Kat and another mage she did not recognise were. Celestial strolled in, trying to hide her unease.
"Hello guys! How have things been since I left?" she asked but she had a feeling that she already knew the answer.

Hunter was already in the dining hall, when another mage walked in. "Hello guys! How have things been since I left?" "Well, we can't shake this feeling that something bad is going to happen." Hunter replied. Slothbird hooted a muffled agreement through a mouthful of fruit. "I'm Hunter, by the way. How are things outside of the Manor?"
((I hope I'm not supposed to be writing the actions for the Mageri?, because I don't know anything about the specific characters or their world other than what Elycien posted on page 1. It also seems that my posts keep prgressively getting shorter, as I'm mostly stuck in a conversation with someone, and can't really continue the story without randomly walking off, writing actions for another person's character (which is bad), or sending Slothbird off and writing about him. The latter of which will probably happen eventually.))

"They've been fine so far," said Kat. "But yeah, Hunter's right. By the way, this is Hunter. He's a new mage. Where have you guys been?"

"I figured it was something like that. It's been too quiet around here lately." Jakie unzipped her pack and began rummaging around in it. "No, I haven't seen Bettyming at all today." She paused in her search, eyes narrowed slightly. "Just out of curiosity, why me?"

It hadn't been long before the Zafaras had been teleported back. Not much longer 'till Omni headed off to the kitchen.
"So, it's around time for our latest session, or whatever you want to call it." She reached into a cupboard. "I was thinking that we could talk more as we do that, if you want. You want a grilled cheese sandwich?"

Bettyming walked out of a small room with a door that had a small picture of a stick figure wearing a dress. "That feels so much better. That piece of straw got in my hoodie and I couldn't take it out in front of Superior. So..." she paused. It looked like she started pausing more when she was talking. "What's our mission?"

Nature blinked once she heard Omni's voice. "H-huh?" The freezemancer was staring blankly into space, contemplating on her horrible nightmare. Is this dream really gonna happen? Please tell me this is all a terrible dream . . . it doesn't mean anything, right?
"Uh, cheese s-sandwich . . . uh, no, th-thank you, Lady O-Omni. Ah-I'll make m-my own," Nature stammered, faking a grin. To show her point, the Zafara picked up a piece of bread, a butter knife and some jam and butter. Without looking, Nature nervously scooped an (unusually large) helping of jam and carelessly applied it on the bread (and the table). In the process, she bumped a glass off the table, breaking it into a million pieces. The (thankfully plastic) cookie jar fell on the floor too, spilling the assorted cookies in different directions. The pitcher of orange juice spilled on the table and landed on Seline's head, irritating the Elvish dragon. Nature payed no attention to the mess she and her jitterbugs had created. The nervous wreck grinned at her mentor, showing that she was "alright" - when really she wasn't It was going to be a long day.

Cat Assassin watched intently as Bettyming and Jakie appeared, one by one. He was getting a bit more accustomed to seeing them show up from nowhere, so the sense of surprise around the Ninja Dojo was a bit predictable. "Okay, now that everyone's here, we are going to a place where the scouts have last reported an unknown, possibly hostile group." He looked at the girls around and noticed that he was the only male, noting to himself that he would need more tent capsules. "Everyone, pack up your things. We'll be leaving in an hour."

"... Where am I?"
"Ugh... I feel dizzy..."

((Someone control Evandra, as I've called her. ^^; Thanks.))
Kat plopped into the nearest chair. "Please pass the bread and the cheese; I'll take care of the grilling." She sighed, ignoring basic etiquette and plunking her elbows onto the table. "Is everyone all right? Would anyone have anything to share, since we're all feeling so...wound up?"

Omni's expression currently said 'Umm…' Seeing the nervous smile Nature was giving her, she didn't say anything right away, and instead just placed her sandwich onto a buttered portion of the pan she was using.
"Would you like some help? …at least with cleaning up?"

"Everyone, pack up your things. We'll be leaving in an hour."
PFA nodded, then ran downstairs to her quarters. She gathered her weapons, some snacks, and whatever she thought she would need for the mission. She packed light, but not too light; she didn't want lots of useless stuff weighing her down, but she also didn't want to run out of food or anything.
((short post, but I can't think of much else I can say without rambling. >_>))

"Reinforcements, you say?" asked Evandra smoothly. "Exactly how big do you expect this coven to be, Althius?"
"Too big for the both of us," was the concise reply. Hazel eyes flashed as he added, "But we can't just rush into things and ambush them; it doesn't always work. Someone should stay there and keep watch, be our spy. Then he or she can send us messages about what they're planning." Althius rubbed his shoulders and drew his cloak around him more tightly, as if he felt cold.
The woman thought for a moment and nodded, gazing at him. "What a clever idea. In fact, you can be our spy, since it was your idea."
Althius's eyebrows rose so high that they nearly disappeared into his hair.
"Are you crazy? No way am I going in there! There are all sorts of crazy hybrids and elementalists and..."
"You'll be fine," his companion insisted, shoving him off. "In fact, the Leader might even exalt you for it. You will be a hero. Isn't subterfuge a lot easier than all-out attacks?"
"Well...yeah, but I..." The redhead sighed. Evandra had a point - more than one, actually. The Leader was hard to please, and if he pulled this off, he could be recognized; perhaps even promoted into the Council. And Council members had access to all forms of mystical knowledge, even the most forbidden of topics. The Mageri trusted their officers immensely, to the point of allowing them to study all kinds of magic. Plus, Althius wasn't exactly the bravest fighter in the bunch. He did prefer infiltration to destruction.
At last, he acquiesced. "All right. I'll even start right now. Tell everyone where I've gone. I'll probably play the old lost mage trick if I have to, and hopefully be able to send some directions towards this place they call Mage Manor very soon."
"Thank you...Al. The Mageri thanks you, and I thank you. I wish you only the best of luck." And with that, she disappeared, possibly to teleport to their headquarters.
That left the young man with only one option - to teleport back the way he came.
((Revival! Tell me if I'm doing something wrong.))
