Okay, I just HAD to make another club for my newest favorite obsession: Star Trek! <3
I know we have to have some other Trekkies or Trekkers around here....so join and show your love for the awesomest science fiction show in history :3 Fans of all incarnations welcome. (My favorite's TOS (aka the only one I've seen), what's yours?)
Ask if you want a spiffy title (spiffier than mine, anyway XD)

I wouldn't say awesomest, but yes, I am a fan. Due to lack of cable/satellite, I haven't seen much in a long time except for the original Star Trek.
My favorite series... that's kinda tough, I'd have to say Voyager. I just like the crew better for some reason.
EDIT: Therefore, I would like to join.

Huzzah! *adds you both* I've only seen TOS due to lack of television time. I tape it every morning at 6 on TVLand (which is channel 85 here in New York, not sure what it is anywhere else). I've seen one or two episodes of Voyager and TNG, though, and they were pretty good.

Oh my goodness, there is a Star Trek club?! May I be transferred to the Enterprise, pretty please? (aka, may I join? XD) ^^ I looooooove Star Trek: The Next Generation. 8D I have all seven seasons on DVD, a Computer game, a PS2 game, the old school Game Boy (Not DS, not GBA, not GBC, but good old GB) game, the toy phaser, and the tricorder, and my aunt is going to sew me a uniform! 8D I also have the Officer's Manual and the Technical Manual. ^^

I've seen all of them except for the original series. Some people love it, some people hate it, but I have to say my favorite series was Deep Space 9. It had more of an overarching plot than the other ones, which I appreciated. Most of the actors and their characters were very good*, even for many of the smaller roles (Garak, Dukat, and even Rom are good examples). I think most of the best episodes of any of the Star Trek series are the ones that make you think. DS9 was no different in that respect, but its way of doing so, to some extent, was. DS9 often tended a bit toward the metaphysical/supernatural (the wormhole aliens/Prophets, for instance). A few of them challenged you to think about how you perceive reality, in particular In the episodes "Far Beyond the Stars" and "Shadows and Symbols," Sisko has visions of himself in the 1950s, as a science-fiction writer writing the events of Deep Space 9. Some philosopher who I can't remember now once said that we are like people chained to the wall of a cave, and our perceptions are just what we can see from the lights and shadows cast on the opposite wall of the cave. These episodes really remind me of that idea. Yeah, that's all I have to say for now. Can my title be Has Odo's Bukket? (Yes, in reference to this lolcat-style pic I came up with.) *Did anyone else know that Avery Brooks (Benjamin Sisko) was a trained opera singer? It didn't surprise me when I heard it--the man's got an amazing voice. EDIT: Oh, some of you might get a kick out of this: Quark's New Merchandising Enterprise.

*adds you both* ^____^ I agree about the best episodes being the ones that make you think. I just watched A Taste of Armageddon (TOS) a few days ago, and that one was really intriguing. And creepy. It's the one about people who wage war by computer. They launch attacks, calculate the number of people who would have been killed, and order those people to report to vaporization chambers. It's eerie, especially when one of the citizens defends that way of war. And The City on the Edge of Forever was this morning, which practically gave me a heart attack of fannish glee XD

Okay, this is going to drive me crazy if I don't ask now, what is TOS's full name, because I can't for the life of me remember a Star Trek series with those initials.
The only ones I can think of with initials are TNG and DSN(or DS9).

*joins surreptitiously* I've seen a million episodes from all five series, but Voyager was probably my favourite. I liked the characters a great deal. ^__^ Next up are probably DS9 and Enterprise, which I seemed to like a lot more than most people.
...Plus I run a mildly successful Star Trek guild on Neopets, which fuels my love for the show. :3

I still have to get through the entire second season of the original series, but once I'm through with that, I'm wondering which one I should move on to.

I'd say Next Gen might be the obvious choice for a number of reasons:
1. Can't think of the first reason. 2. It takes place next chronologically. 3. It was the next to be made. 4. Due to reason 3, the plots aren't quite as complex as some other series'. 5. Data is just that good. 6. Can't think of the sixth reason either.
See, six good reasons right there. >_>

Sign me up, please. =D My dad's a huge Star Trek fan, so a) I was practically weaned on to it and b) we have almost all the episodes on tape or DVD. Which is a little worrying, but there you go. (We also have a model 3D chess board and bat'leth. x3) My favourite series is DS9, pretty much for the reasons Fraze said. *joins surreptitiously* I've seen a million episodes from all five series, but Voyager was probably my favourite. 5. Data is just that good. *Nodnod* That he is. It seemed like all the series had one character who struggled to become human in some way. Voyager had Seven of Nine, DS9 had Odo, and so on. But far and away, the best character of that type was Data. We also have a model 3D chess board and bat'leth. That is great. I really wonder how effective a weapon a bat'leth could be--I'd imagine it might be quite useful. I'm sure someone, somewhere, teaches bat'leth fighting.
