Let me rephrase: it's unforgiving if you don't take the time to train properly. xD Even with the guide, I was more interested in romping around the world than aiming for a specific monster. So my Digimon's stats were nowhere near high enough most of the time.
I really like the concept of the v-pets, and it would be great if that aspect of the franchise got emphasized more because there must still be a market for it (there's clearly still a fanbase), but I'm honestly not sure I would want another one. Some years ago I bought one of the... Pendulum X ones, I think they were? The ones with the LEDs that acted like dice rolls? I played with it for a few days, but it couldn't really hold my interest like the original when I was a kid. I feel like I don't really have the time on my hands nowadays to attend to a v-pet.
Also then I somehow lost it so I can't play with it any more anyway. :<
I think a smartphone/tablet adaptation would be really fun, though, maybe using wireless data to communicate with other players, downloading their monsters to battle and etc.

Ah yeah, it was very tempting to just romp around for exploration's sake. XD That never happened to me, cause I was always too worried about going "too far" and getting into an area that my Digimon was too weak for, so I just trained in Green Gym until it was a Champion before I ever went exploring. XD Ah, Pendulum X? I was curious about those. I never saw them in stores, so I didn't have the opportunity to get one. The last Digivice I bought was... a D-Power, I think it was called? Bleargh. Not only was it just another lame pedometer game and not a virtual pet, but it was a HARD pedometer game. XD That's too bad that you lost it. because if you don't want it, I would've gladly taken it off your hands. I somehow managed to lose a plush Gabumon years ago, and I'm still kicking myself over it. One of the great things about the original Digimon virtual pets was that they were very hardy. You could leave them for hours and they'd be okay. If mine were still in good condition, I'd still be running them right now. I think I wore them out because I loved them so much. XD; I took them everywhere.

I remember getting the D-Power and being sad that you had to use specially-designed plastic cards for the card swiping, not real TCG cards like on the show. xD Because I had a lot of those. Also, the actual card you used didn't matter, it just had to be a piece of material sturdy enough and thin enough to activate the sensors on the device (and yes, getting the timing right was extremely difficult). Too bad the Nintendo e-Reader was about two years over the horizon. Something like that would have emulated the devices on the show much more accurately.
I do love the originals. I would have kept mine but it stopped working, the LCD screen eventually just wore out.

Yeah, the card swiping was unique, but in the end it added nothing to the gameplay and was overall just a big pain in the rear. One of my originals has screen issues, too. It's a common problem for aging virtual pets, sadly.

So the egg is almost done hatching but now it's being blocked by Scumon and requires over 400,000 clicks before we can continue hatching it. Luckily you can click once a minute this time so it should go by faster if we all click as much as possible. Here you go.

I dunno what Hackmon is, but Bao Hackmon looks pretty cool. 8D Like something that would've been on one of the original Pendulums.

We have more information on the new season! It's called Digimon Adventure Tri and we now know what the original 8 will look like. Here is the source.

Here is the source.Minor things I can glean from this picture: Sora, Mimi, Matt, Izzy and Tai are all in the same light blue uniform. So they're probably all going to the same school in this new series. Joe's clothes are dark blue, which argues that he's probably attending a different school from the other older digidestined (knowing him, some sort of medical school). Finally, TK and Kari, the youngest two, are in green, which means that obviously they're still a good be lower on the academic rung than the older cast and also attending a different school. Unless I misremember, that is the same shade of green as the older cast's uniforms from 02, so perhaps TK and Kari are attending the same high school the older kids where in 02... so Tai and the rest of the older bunch are in college?
That doesn't say a lot about the series as a whole, but shhhh let me have my fun.

The dub made them in high school during Zero Two (as the dub always tends to age the characters up) while from what I understand they were in middle school in the original Japanese version.
Tri takes place when Tai is 17 so either his junior or senior year of high school with the rest that share his uniform also being in high school.
T.K and Kari would be in middle school while Joe would be in college.

XD Though to be fair, a lot of what the kids were getting up to makes no sense if they were supposed to be in middle school. A 12-14 year old with a sold out rock concert? Bwuh? So I can't blame the dub for aging them up.

Not sure about the others but you can probably assume they were around the same age as well.
