I'm super excited about this. I hope it has the same charm as Adventure--maybe they'll call back the writing team or something. That would be wonderful.
Never mind that this makes me feel super old. Shows I watched when I was in junior high are not allowed to have anniversaries!
And Shinko, it doesn't necessarily have to contradict the 02 epilogue (although it would be nice if we could all just put that behind us). Doesn't that epilogue take place like, 25 years after 02? This would take place about 2 years after 02.
(Although really if they decide to ignore 02 that would be all right with me)

(Although really if they decide to ignore 02 that would be all right with me) Oh, I just meant the 02 epilogue more or less directly states that after MaloMytismon was defeated peace was restored to the digital world forevers and evers and ALL the kids in the world got their VERY OWN partners, et cetera, et cetera. Even if they retconned it so that there was another big conflict, the fact that every person in the entire world has a partner would kinda negate any real tension. At least, it would if the writing team didn't contrive some way to nerf the power of all the digimon except the main ones. But yes, if they retconned out 02 entirely it might work... and I wouldn't be crying about it. Granted, I didn't hate everything about 02, I liked the concept of armor digivolving and DNA digivolving, I liked Ken as a villain and his redemption, and I liked the idea of the dark ocean. It's just they had waaaaay too many plot points all thrown in and resolved only like... 10% of them. Also aside from Ken the characters were criminally boring and never developed, ever. XD

I'm hyped for this. So long as it's better than seasons five and six I don't care what they do in regards to 02's epilogue as I never had a problem with that to begin with. I hope that if we do get all the old characters back that the eventual dub will bring back their original voice actors though.

XD True, I see what you mean there. If this is a full-fledged series, I can see how the utter finality of the 02 epilogue would preclude any further conflict from arising, or at least presenting a palpable threat. While it's true that they've circumvented this problem before by jumping through some plot hoops (Dark Spires preventing Digivolution for the first half of 02, etc.), they would have to come up with something pretty creative this time. I guess I was kind of assuming that this would be some sort of one-off special of a tributary nature, where the plot wouldn't be conflict-based but more character-based, much like many of the Japan-exclusive audio dramas. I'm thinking specifically of Original Story Spring 2003 and how it was just the six main 02 kids talking about their everyday lives two years after the 02 finale. It gave them a surprising amount of character development, arguably more than in the actual show, as each track was a monologue* where each kid discussed their feelings about some aspect of their life or personality. Davis talks about leadership, T. K. talks about being a Digidestined, Cody visits his father's grave and tries to hash out his issues with the 02 antagonists, Yolei talks about... typical Yolei stuff, junior high school and Ken and her latest obsessions, Ken talks about the mistakes he's made, and Kari composes an introductory video for new Digidestined. They're cute and insightful little pieces, and I wish the characters had been given this much depth and attention on the show. *Except for Cody's, which had him in a conversation with Armadillomon. Interestingly, in the Japanese version they are voiced by the same actress, so she was basically talking to herself in two different voices here. Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up doing something similar for this 15th anniversary project. Of course I'm saying this because it's what I would like to see, but I also find it interesting that the one piece of information they've given us so far is that it takes place when Tai is 17, not silhouettes of new Digimon or something like that. I'm hoping that means it'll be more character-oriented, especially because I've read several interviews and material from the cast and writers of Adventure where they talk about how the characters and their development are what resonated the strongest with fans of that show, most of whom were our age when it aired. Speaking from that point of view, I'd rather see an anniversary tribute that focused on the characters I watched grow and empathized with rather than some outlandish new Digimon designs and flashy fight scenes. But yeah, I wouldn't mind if they did some major retconning of 02, either. <.< Ken was clearly the best part. xD And the Dark Ocean, what a terrible shame that never ended up going anywhere. It had more potential than most of the other plot arcs, I think. (And admittedly Davis has grown on me, but his Japanese characterization is more endearing than his dub incarnation.) And yes, the characters. I think preteen Squid innately knew something was wrong as soon as she saw the first episode's "here's where all the Adventure kids are now!" introduction. And Sora in a miniskirt. *facepalm* I've never liked what 02 did to the Adventure cast. Some of their developments were really off-the-wall. (Socially-anxious Matt in a fangirl-mobbed rock band? Really???)

And... nearly always got Numemon. xD I must have overfed my Digimon often.

Frankly after the disaster that was the Yu-Gi-Oh anniversary movie, I would prefer a new series. XD At least a series requires effort and honesty to the source material. The Yu-Gi-Oh anniversary movie was like all of the worst, most self-indulgent horrible fanfics ever. I would not be surprised if the script WAS ripped from fanfic.net, but that's neither here nor there. XD
I never had any of the digimon v-pets, but I did play the original Digimon World PS1 game which functioned similarly but with a plot alongside the raising/training aspect. I got Numemon a lot as well. >> But I did get Leomon once which was awesome. = D

The YGO Anniversary movie was... huurk. XD Though, I only watched it to see Yugi. The original series is the only one I liked. XD
Digimon World is probably the best Digimon game out there! I have it. <3 I usually end up with Andromon if I don't try for anything specific. Right now I have a Phoenixmon. Phoenixmon is awesome. 8D
@surfersquid
Aww, Numemon? XD Did you ever at least get to turn it into Monzaemon? Perfect stage Digimon were really hard to get... and impossible if you only had one Digimon, which was kinda disappointing. I got MetalGreymon a few times, but I only ever got Monzaemon twice. XD

Killix, I agree, I'll always love the original DW's charm and open-ended nature. I never beat that game, I wasn't even any good at it, but I sure did enjoy it. (Unfortunately, I gave it away many years ago, and now I'm hoping to find it cheap somewhere at some point. I have a friend of mine looking out for it on his side of the continent, too.) I feel like I miiiight have gotten Monzaemon at least once, via battling with my anime Digivice and/or D-3s. But that was ages ago, my memory is terrible. xD I'm pretty sure I never got any other Perfect, though. I was a dumb kid. xD

XD I loved Digimon World, but boy oh boy was I bad at it. I bought the guide for that game and I was still bad at it. But I agree with @surfersquid, the open nature of the world and the quirky characters gave it a lot of charm. Whenever I got bored or stuck exploring in one direction I could just reverse and go somewhere else. And I loved how progressing in recruiting Digimon to the town equated to upgrades that helped you in the long run. It made me feel like the recruiting was actually worthwhile and not an excuse plot.

I had the guide too! Although that was back when I was so paranoid about not knowing what to do in a game that I bought guides for every game I got. Also that was back before I knew about GameFAQs. (Although I also just liked the artwork that many guides included.)
To be fair, that game is rather unforgiving if you're actually trying to do anything worthwhile. But it's just so much fun that it doesn't matter if you get a Numemon for the fifth time in a row. xD
I wish they'd make another Digimon game like that, that had a v-pet-like Digimon-raising mechanic but also had that element of exploration and a quirky aesthetic. I've played some of the other Digimon World games, but they can't quite compare to the first.

At least when you had Numemon it would eat whatever poop piles there were lying around from when you didn't quite reach one of the few-and-far-between toilets in time. That always irked me, that the piles just... stayed there forever, like the game was shaming you for not getting to the toilet fast enough. XD Which were your favorite digimon to raise? My favorite rookie/child was penguinmon, and my favorite champion/adult was leomon (which I only got once but it was AWESOME and kicked SO MUCH BUTT.) I never managed to raise an ultimate/perfect stage. 8D

Although I think this was partly because it wasn't a Digidestined's partner in the show, so I drew a lot of doodles centering around the idea that I was a Digidestined and it was my partner, and I made up new Digivolutions for it like a penguin-gryphon. xD (Clearly, my time in math class was not wasted.) I can't much remember any of the Champions or Ultimates I got, because anything other than Numemon (or an early demise) was rare... I feel like I might have gotten MetalMamemon once, but that could just be wishful thinking. Ooh, now I really want to get my hands on that game again and see how my Digimon-raising skills compare to preteen Squid's. ... They probably haven't improved much. xD

I've played some of the other Digimon World games, but they can't quite compare to the first. I wouldn't say Digimon World is unforgiving. It's possible to get any Digimon you want once you know what the conditions are. It's just a challenge/mystery for beginners to learn and understand how it all works... and most of us first played it when we were a lot younger, so how well that went was varied. XD The conditions for Champions are actually pretty easy to meet (usually being 1000 in HP or MP plus 100 in another stat), and Numemon appears if you don't fufill the conditions for any other Champion. I wish they'd do more with the v-pet aspect of the franchise in general. I'm in that weird, tiny portion of the fan base who only cares about the virtual pets and doesn't really like the cartoon at all. XD I want to add more Digivices to my collection, but they're old and so hard to find. :< Please (re)release some more, Bandai. TAKE MY MONEY. I never managed to raise an ultimate/perfect stage. 8D The fact that the poop stayed there forever unless you cleaned it up with Numemon/Sukamon annoyed me so much. XD I was obsessive about keeping all of the maps clean. I took a stack of portable toilets with me wherever I went. I never wanted to "waste" a Digimon by having to purposefully get Sukamon to clean it up. You could go to Trash Mountain and get your 'mon reverted, but still... the stat drop was pretty severe. XD My favourites were: Biyomon and Penguinmon Bakemon, Devimon and Tyranomon and Phoenixmon So disappointed that you couldn't get Myotismon, WereGarurumon or SabreLeomon.
