I was going to use the remake as an opportunity to finally actually see Sailor Moon, but I lost interest halfway through the first episode because I found the art style in the original a lot more charming, despite having only seen about eight episodes of it. I think the show just missed the window of time when I was interested in the episodic superhero type stories enough to follow one. Well, if you don't care about superhero stuff, then maybe you'll like Crystal. Sailor Moon doesn't fight monsters or help people out; it's mostly about her and Mamoru and their sappy lovestory. XD *prefers the shonen-like monster-of-the-day fights to the romance story* XD; From what I've heard, I think I would be more interested in the character development in the original series; it's just that I never got through the early monster-of-the-day episodes to the parts where the cast actually starts to come together and develop. It would probably have been more accurate to say that it's more difficult these days for me to get into longer series in general.

Sooo, has anyone seen Cute High Earth Defense Club Love yet? *_____* I think it's my new favorite thing.
It's a magical boy anime that takes a satirical look at the magical girl genre, and it's sooooo good. Not to mention chock full of fanservice for the ladies. <3 <3 <3
Seriously look at these transformations

I don't know how to react, I can't even with anything anymore. I'm so done with this show I'm going to go rant about it to everyone and try to start a meme about it.
....In other news, is anyone else watching Yurikuma Arashi because Ikuhara? <__< It's finally starting to get interesting (and less blatantly fanservicey) in episode 4, and I always love the aesthetic style and direction and abstract themes on his shows.

I'm kind of surprised at your love for this given that I seem to recall you saying a long time ago that Ouran was too girly and shounen-ai for you XD I feel like half the characters on this show look almost exactly like other anime characters; I was calling the main blond boy Nagisa for the first two episodes This week's villain had one of the most interesting powers so far I guess?? and the hint of possible actual backstory was nice?? but?? the baby fight I can't even

8D That's what makes it so awesome!! I'm kind of surprised at your love for this given that I seem to recall you saying a long time ago that Ouran was too girly and shounen-ai for you XD Mm, I liked Ouran decently enough, but it wasn't my style of show. But not because of the shonen-ai; I happen to have a nostalgia for those silly boy-love shows every now and again. (I recall being more meh on shoujo) It was basically playing a straight harem romance story, and I couldn't care less about who what'sherface wound up with. I like Earth Defense Club because it's an absurd satire of the magical girl tropes. Like how they are unwillingly roped into their roles by a wacky-colored animal, to protect/spread love, in as nebulous a concept as possible. (You know, how Sailor Moon is the self proclaimed "guardian of love." That doesn't actually make sense.) The content and point of Earth Defense Club is completely different from Ouran. XD It has nothing to do with either style's visual look.

That's fair, haha. I feel like I'd appreciate the parody jokes more if I actually had a background in Sailor Moon XD; But I am enjoying the magical boys show, it's just that I find it so cringeworthy that I have to keep ragging on it at the same time XD Because wow does it run on bizarre innuendo, but the mindless cringe comedy does kind of actually work XD

Well, my reaction to everything I'm watching this season continues to be "what on earth am I watching" and apparently that's how I like it
Kinda disappointed that the magical boy show still isn't showing signs of plot development or even much character interaction between the villains, come on, give the bad guys more than a minute of screentime in every episode <_< Not that the show isn't so bizarre it's kind of funny but is this series really going to run on random gags all the way through? Seriously I need something to justify my continuing to watch it ahaha... I like incredibly campy parody, I really do, but I wish they'd go deeper into the backstory they keep occasionally hinting at and/or play up the character interaction.

XD I dunno. It doesn't feel "random" to me. Silly, maybe, but I think the show does a good job setting up a premise and theming the whole episode around it. Haruhi Suzumiya this ain't. XD
I don't mind that it's a monster-of-the-week format rather than long-form. It's kind of a standard for the magical girl genre. X3

...Well Yurikuma Arashi got kind of intense in ep 6. That and ep 4 are my favorites so far, since both were more coherent about developing backstory (and toned down the cringeworthy fanservice << much as Ginko was kind of amusing in a few of the ep 5 scenes). Still greatly enjoying the stylistic direction.
And there was actually some development in the sixth magical boys ep, so that's a good sign that the show might actually be going somewhere??
