Wait, which Ghost in the Shell? Do you mean SAC? Yeah, it's been playing for ages (both seasons).

Right now I'm thinking of Anime Expo.

but I'm going to A-kon D: I would love to try and go to A-fest later this year as well. I'm sad though because there are rumors that A-kon is going to be in a different location starting next year and it's always been at the Sheraton/Westin in Dallas

Right now, as we speak, I'm not going to Phoenix Comic Con, which is not even 30minutes walk from my house.... But I decided to save the money (and friend bailed at the last minuet), and just use it for Anime Expo at the end of June.

So Toonami is dropping Deadman Wonderland next week instead of repeating it like they normally would do with series. Instead they're going to replace it with Samurai 7. They're also going to be adding in Eureka 7 (Adult Swim aired it in the past, but still a good series. I own it).
So I'm not totally sure what the lineup will be next week besides those two shows and Bleach. I'm pretty sure they'll keep Cowboy Bebop. They love that series so much it repeated hundreds of times. Heck, tonight it ended again XD Casshern Sins is still ongoing right now, and should until November. FMA: Brotherhood is to good to quit. Ghost in the Shell... Maybe? But I think it's popular to...

I really wish they would try and y'know, actually acquire new shows that haven't already aired on American TV 200 billion times. There's a ton of shows released in the past five years that people would love to watch over here. (assuming they could get the rights from whoever holds the license)
Speaking of Bleach, something I've never understood: Why did it end up on Adult Swim/Toonami as this "MATURE ADULT SHOW FOR ADULT VIEWERS" while Naruto and One Piece ended up being treated as kiddie shows, censored, and put at stupid timeslots and channels? I have read (skimmed, at least) all three of these series and they seem pretty evenly matched in terms of adult content.

Bleach does deal with a lot of 'death' and I believe later seasons does turn up the blood/death amounts. Compared to Naruto and One Piece, those two are relatively tame (few body counts and blood loss).

Compared to Naruto and One Piece, those two are relatively tame (few body counts and blood loss). Huh. I don't really actively pay much attention to Bleach anymore so were there a lot of deaths I missed or something? I can't name a single character that has died in Bleach. Besides Ulquiorra. I think he died. That may have been why I stopped paying attention to Bleach.I'd disagree about Naruto being tame since there's blood and major character death every which way over there. OP less so, since the villains usually just end up getting beaten up and go off on bowling adventures rather than being killed. Although Oda did kill off Ace ;_;

One Piece, sadly got licenced by 4Kids first. So they butcher it and tried to make it really kid friendly. Then later FUNimation took it over and started where 4Kids left off, fixing it. After they got ahead some, they went back and redid all the mess 4Kids did. Now they just made it back to the point where they can dub more new episodes.
During this time Cartoon Network did get it, and it was 4Kids version they got first, so it was of course thrown in a time slot that was prime time.
Naruto. Yes, it gets less kid friendly as the series goes on. But at first it really did seem more like a kid sort of adventure series. They wanted to market it to kids so they can make toys and stuff for them. And for a while they did...
Cartoon Network dropped both series however, because they started to purge a lot of good shows and anime from their lineup.
Bleach was placed on Adult Swim because it tended to deal with death and had a lot more violence compared to the other two from the start.
Also about Naruto. Disney XD picked up Shippuden, which really surprised me... I think it's slightly censored, but overall the same series.
----
As for Adult Swim/Toonami picking up new licences... Toonami is going through a test thing right now. Plain and simple. Adult Swim/Toonami only have the licences of what they all ready own and can semi-easily pick up what they owned in the past (I know for sure they lost the licence to Eureka 7 in the past). Since it's on a test to see how popular Toonami will be, FUNimation gave them Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins to try and pick up viewers and promote the two series. Samurai 7 is another FUNimation title.
As Toonami gets more viewers and hopefully grows more then one night, they should actually get more new series. At least that's what they mention they hope to happen. Personally I would like to see it spread past just Saturday. Maybe Friday night or a few weekdays. That way they can slap in some older titles and newer ones.

For those with a PS3 in the US or Canada, and don't mind paying $6.99 a month. They can get Neon Alley next month. Which is a anime video channel (like tv channel) that will air a number of animes and other Japanese related shows.
Some of the shows currently on the list are (and they're dubbed);
NARUTO Shippuden Tiger & Bunny Inuyasha - The Final Act ZETMAN Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne- Blue Exorcist Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan Vampire Knight NARUTO Death Note Kekkaishi Nana
Right now, they're testing the channel on PS3, but it should be moving to other gaming systems and possibly the computer later. When I first heard about it, they said it was going to release on PS3 and Xbox 360, but it seems they're waiting for the 360...
I want to get it, but at the same time I don't. It's mainly the fact it's basically a tv channel, so I can miss the shows I want to see. Or the fact that if I got it later when it's released on the 360, I'll be in episode.. 12 or something of a series I want to watch from the start.
There are a number of series I really want to see XD;
Edit: Apparently the voice actress for Kagome for Inuyasha was recasted, along with a few others.

I just finished watching Madoka Magica... It wasn't what I was expecting. I was actually expecting it to be a lot more twisted, more horror, more death, more everything, and... It was actually pretty tame. The story was done well and the characters were good, especially later on in the series. Overall, I liked it.

Heh, yeah, I think the main reason Madoka Magica has a reputation for being so dark is because of the incongruency between the art style/magical girl scenario and the darker elements. I found that a little jarring myself, but I definitely found it to be a really well-done and engaging show.
