[glow=red,2,300]Testing... 1-2-3. This thing on? Sorry, what? The glow? Of course this is professional enough! >o ... But I like my limbs! Fine, fine, dropping it...[/glow]
Welcome to the Guilds, a place where a lot of forum lore is born, heroic battles are fought, epic tales of romance are told, and overall cool stuff happens. In general, this is where you can chat with people who have similar interests and personae as you.
The differences between Guilds and Clubs: Guilds are based on persona play. One's forum persona's attributes, profession, etc. determine which guilds they can and cannot join. Guilds are about roleplay, political intrigue, joking, fighting, and generally causing a ruckus. Clubs are based on interest. One cannot be denied entrance to a club, under normal circumstances (e.g. as long as you don't act like a complete nincompoop and hurt everyone's feelings). Basically, guilds work on what people are and clubs on what they do.
To join a guild, post on its sign-up thread.
Mages: Your Mage Persona
Pirates: The Muster-roll
Ninjas: Ninja Sign-up/Persona thread
Knights: Welcome to Dunburrow! (the sign-up thread)
Spacefleet: Welcome to Spacefleet!
Mercenaries: Mercenary HQ Reception
(To be frank, I'm not entirely sure if all of them are correct sign-up threads, anyone feel free to correct me with any of the above links.)
The Guild Rules:
How to create a guild:
Mark you, as of right now (which is to say, chances are the situation will change sometime in the future and this thread remains outdated because rule threads tend to outdate a lot >.>) the guilds are fairly inactive and making a new guild would only sentence it to a short spark of interest followed by another soldier in the ranks of the inactive guilds, so if you're looking for a profitable career in the field of guildbusiness, you could first consider if your idea would work within some other existing guild. Diversity within guilds makes things funner, after all. But all that aside, the general guidelines are:
1) Make sure the idea isn't fit to be a club (it's the 'what you are' vs 'what you do' question again)
2) Find five people who share the interest and would be willing to join and be active in your guild.
3) PM a mod to get a subboard for the guild.
4) Recruit more members, start guild events, mingle with other guilds... generally, run the guild.
Any questions, feel free to ask on this thread.

The Guild Rules:
- All general forum rules apply, but that goes without saying.
- Don't take the guilds too seriously. They have become a fairly elaborate MMORPGish thing over the years, but they're still fantasy, and that means that all grudges, revenges, you-killed-my-grandpa-es etc are not to be taken seriously or held against anyone.
- Regard other guilds with courtesy. There are some age-old rivalries between all guilds, but there's also some age-old honor in all guilds. Acting like a brat will only make you and your guild look bad.
- You can belong to up to three guilds at a time.
- You may create a different persona to join a different guild. Or multiple personae within one guild, if you can maintain them all. The 'three guilds per one person' rule still applies, though.
