Xylophone: If you want to do theatre, you could probably just go for it now. You don't even need to join your school's theatre program to get started! Just research the local theatres and theatre companies in your area, and shoot the artistic or production managers an e-mail telling them you'd like to get involved with backstage work. I suggest doing some volunteer work first. The people in charge of hiring crews really like experience. I'm positive there are smaller theatres out there who are more willing to hire the more in-experienced stagehand. You just have to seem like you're intelligent, capable, and willing to learn the ropes when you go in for an interview. ^_^ Thanks for the advice. I shall remember this for the spring, when I'll actually be able to have some free time. |
