Is it possible that the same thing that triggers transexuality triggers homosexuality to a lesser degree? Interesting question. The main thing I think is that different parts of the brain are affected. I know homosexual people who look down on Transexuals because the transexual wants to reshape the body to fit the mind's image, whereas a homosexual is perfectly happy with the body they have, but just prefer people of the same sexual persuasion. But I also know of a few homosexuals who, after a few years of trying to find out where they fit in, actually were transexual, but were afraid of the label that might be applied to them. Being Gay has a certain amount of acceptence in society today, whereas being transgendered or transexual is considered "sick" or "perverted" and is condemned by many still. Until we can actually find out exactly HOW the brain develops or even how it functions, there isn't a lot anyone can really do about it. The best anyone can do is accept and measure a person for WHO they are, not WHAT they seem to be. Lables do no good, other than trying to fit every individual in a box or pigeonhole, and that is a disservice to all when you do that, for there is no room in that pigeonhole to spread one's wings.

[glow=red,2,300]You know I'm gonna remember that one forever. Yeah, if people could just get their heads back into thier own narrow holes and didn't look down on everyone else, there would be no need for discussions like this. But like I said before, I'm just a nauseatingly quixotic idealist. [/glow]
