[glow=red,2,300]Dress-down at my school. Two weeks when we don't have to wear our Catholic school uniforms. ;D Always interesting, especially since it's the same two weeks as the Red Sox vs. Yankees games and kids keep coming in wearing Yankee shirts. But that's not the point. My friend Sarah came into lunch wearing a shirt that said, "The more men I meet, the more I like dogs." One of the guys who sits at my table didn't really like that. I thought it was funny. Kid should learn to lighten up a bit. So what do you think? Girls and guys can answer this one. Are boy-bashing T-shirts OK?[/glow]

DIE DIE DIE!!! *cough* Well, since guys sure as heck can't - and don't want to - where girl bashing t-shirts, I dunno. But since we don't want to, what's it matter? Girls can do it, I don't mind.

I think shirts like that are funny, but definitely not school-appropriate.

I think they are perfectly fine. All men have faults and it just makes a good joke when women can make fun of those faults. Same goes with everyone. We all have faults. If we took these faults seriously then the human race would be a messed up one. However, I agree with Smiley that they aren't really school appropriate.

As long as they're balanced out (I.E.There are also girl-bashing T-shirts) they're fine. XD

That shirt's not bashing men, it's bashing dogs! I think the shirt's fine. I mean, guys make fun of women's driving and such, and wear all sorts of degrading shirts.

I'm not a big fan of shirts like that, but only because it's just not my thing. I don't take offense unless its something intentionally cruel and lashing out at a type of person/hobby/whatever.

Well, since guys sure as heck can't - and don't want to - where girl bashing t-shirts, I dunno. IDL, do you live in the same world I do? I was once dragged to a store chock-full of shirts with jokes about getting girls drunk and screwing them. Really, there were about half a dozen different varieties, all degrading. I felt a bit sick, and I wanted to go stand and wait outside instead, but there was a crowd of people smoking out there and I decided to poison my mind rather than my lungs. But anyway, enough about me. Not only is that shirt fine, I think it's school appropriate. It's cynical and mean-spirited, but not hateful or degrading. Compared to what some boy's shirts say, it's actually really tame, and all in the interest of freedom of speech.

Like The Comedian said, I don't really like *any* shirts that single out a particular group of persons and bash them. But whatever, it's all in the name Freedom of Speech, so it doesn't bother me that much.
However, schools don't have Constitutional rights, otherwise I would have the right to bare arms in my classroom. So no, offensive shirts should not be allowed in the classroom. Not only is it pretty tasteless, most kids still in grade school aren't mature enough to handle stuff like that.
Being compared to a dog isn't very flattering (Unless you're a dog person, but I'm guessing this kid wasn't). I can understand him not being too thrilled about it. I don't think it's all that funny either. o0 I know for a fact that it's considered far less tolerable for a guy to have a shirt making fun of women (EI- if a guy wore a shirt saying "The more girls I meet, the more I like lady doges" he'd probably be shunned), so I find it a bit unfair that girls can flaunt around their freedom when guys can't.

Ugh, I see those all the time... Sadly, most of female degrading t-shirts are WORN by girls. "Objects are larger than they appear," "Don't hate me cause I'm beautiful - hate me because I kissed your boyfriend!", so on and so forth. I gag every time I see them, but apparently they're 'cute.' Slutdom is the new cute, I guess.

Oh dear God, YES! And don't forget the pants with words like "juicy" printed across the back. I know -_-. And I can't get a pair of jeans that aren't low-rise, or a shirt that doesn't cut off above the belly button. Ergh.

Friday she came to school in a shirt that read, "Young, willing, and eager.".Let me remind you that this is a SEVENTH GRADER. And said shirt came up above her navel and her skirt, which was about three inches long, sat on the lowest part of her hips possible. But I digress. I think that it depends on what the shirt says. I have a couple of shirts like tha, one from David and Goliath that says "Boys are stupid, throw rocks at them" and a Happy Bunny shirt that says "I love boys they're stupid." Some things that I've seen on guys' shirt are completely inapropriate, though. But same for grls. It jsut depends on what it says.

Someone gave my brother a shirt with two guy cows and one girl cow with HUGE... umm... things... and an extremely.... intresting... catchphrase.
My brother: ". . . and just when exactly did you expect me to wear this?"
He stuffed it into his cupboard waaaaay back. A couple years later, he gave me leave to dig through his cupboard and take all the shirts he didn't want. I found this old, water-stained shirt that looked practically brand new despite the stains (the air-con drips water on top of the iron hinges of that cupboard).
Me: "OMG BLACKMAIL!!! ^____________^"
He was so darn embarassed. ;D I think he didn't want to throw it away because it was well... a gift, and forgot all about it.
Yeah. Just a weird little story. I think he still has it because it's just too darn brand new to use for rags and too offensive to give away. I await the day his wife finds it with eagerness. ^^ *evil little sister mode*
