Stealing Glowing Fonts?

It's a bit like a debate regarding a person using other people's font like (s)he owns it.

This will be where you place your opinion(s) if it's considered stealing or not.

Don't you think it's a bit...silly though? The fonts are there for anybody to use. Say if a newbie came to the forum and she liked the red glowing font. However, She finds out that another person uses it too and therefore gets told off for using that persons font. That means that, however much the newbie likes the font, she can't use it because someone else got to the font first. It isn't fair and it isn't right either. Sorry if I'm being harsh here but I felt that things needed to be said.

I agree, even if I WAS the one who posted that. Some people just want to claim some font as their own to be unique. But even though we strive to be unique, we are all still equal and alike in other aspects. ;D

In all honesty, I don't like the glowy font. It was kind of nice when Rider was unique with it, but now we have a forum of radioactive sheep. I also never, not once, EVER saw a glowing font on the NeoBoards that didn't look extrmely tacky.

That being said, it's just a font. Don't get your keyboard in a knot over it.

Well, there's only a couple of glowy fonts I've seen around. And it doesn't really matter. It's a colour of font - you can't really claim it as your own. If an older forum member suddenly uses Rider's font and declares themself the Meepit Queen, it's slightly different. But if anyone uses it - jeeze, it's just a font.

I have to say that I like glowy fonts. Though, to say a glowy font is TM to you is a bit silly. Anyone could make it if they had the time. Okay, so let's give an example. Rider's glowy font gets used by some other person. Does the person get banned from the forum or anything? No. Everyone goes back to being happy-go-lucky, so there really isn't a point.

If you're talking about Neopets glowy fonts, though, I must say I want them back. They were rather cool. They had...personality to them. Like, if someone had a pink font you could tell they were a girlie girl, or if someone had a blue font you could tell they liked blue and so on. Though, losing the glowy fonts didn't really effect me, I do miss my purple glowy font my friend made for me.

But, back to the subject. No, glowy fonts should not be TM to someone. It's rather stupid if you ask me. I mean, in no way is the red font TM to Rider. Everyone just says it is. It's just like any old glowy font. I could get it by simply hitting the button up there, so I really see no point in copyrighting fonts, and no, I do not consider it stealing. It's just like copying the code for someone's glowy font on a font page. There is no harm in it what-so-ever and you still get a cool font.

Fair enough it's your trademark. I look at it as this. Stone can't claim Lucky Green Boots are his, he didn't invent them (as far as I'm aware) so people can use them but they don't because they no it's his little thing. The same with Riders font, it's Riders way of being original but if someone wants to use it then can if they really want.

Well, people had plain colored fonts for that. Mine's purple and it doesn't glow. It (along with my avatar) says that I reeeeeally like Darigan Peophins. ^^

I'm sorry, but the rumor that anyone can claim the rights to a font on this forum ends now. Fonts are just that, fonts, NO ONE has the right to claim them as their own OR badger anyone who is using the same font that someone else is using.

Fonts, as well as font styles, colors, or special font effects are for free use. ANYONE can use them and I don't want to see anyone jumping on anyone's case if they should happen to use a font that's another person's "trademark."

I have a purple font, that used to be glowy, but isn't anymore because TNT had to ban glowy fonts ;_;

A fight about fonts? C'mon, give me a break. This isn't Neobords here, people. I would hope that you all would find something better to discuss than glowy fonts or some such.

If you wish to argue fonts, take it to the Neoboards, please. here, they are open to everyone. *Looks for the admin settings to disable fonts, just in case*

But everybody better lay off the 10-point, bold, navy Verdana font on AIM. That's my trademark.
