Quote from PinkPoogleToy: "Remember those new toys posted awhile ago? Well, those, as well as the think away voice activated pets, will be sold at Toys R Us on the first on February! The "tamagotchi" type personal pets will be the Red Kougra, Mutant Kacheek, Krawk, Tonu, Aisha and Grundo!" images.amazon.com/images/P/B00007J5X2.01-A3LTAW8FHJ63G2.LZZZZZZZ.jpgimages.amazon.com/images/P/B00007J5X7.01-A3LTAW8FHJ63G2.LZZZZZZZ.jpgA question for the masses out there. How many of you are actually still following this merchandising, willing to buy every single new item that comes out? Hasn't the thrill worn off by now? I'm only guessing this is Neopets' way to break the repitition of "rare" plushies, but still - there's something very, very odd to me about selling Tamagochis (read: virtual pets) to people who HAVE virtual pets...

You know, that IS weird! I (sort of) follow merchandising. But I buy what I like, not because of the novelty of it. Oh, and maybe to get a few rare item codes. . . But I need the notebooks anyway. THe computer desk was cluttered with scratch paper from me copying down ideas, screen names, pet names, codes, quotes, and whatnot that I needed to remember. It was a MESS.

I don't own any Neopets merchandise. I don'r see a need for me to buy save to support neopets - and I can do that by buying from sponsors who I am more interested in than Limited Too, Claires, etc.
Anyway, I can see how a Neopet Tamagochi (sp?) could sell. Could you imagine MakiKai getting transferred onto a tamagochi?

I have always LOATHED tamagotchis. I've had enough REAL pets die on me, thank you very much. That's part of the reason I fell in love with Neopets: they don't die. Neopets are forever.

I have almost every plushie they've made, but our claires stopped selling neopets so I don't go there anymore. But, i found a babaa plushie for a penny on ebay-- its mine!

But, i found a babaa plushie for a penny on ebay-- its mine! I WANT A BABAA!!! It's the one plushie they've made so far, other than the Cybunny, which I own, that I want. But when I went to Claires, all they had left were angelpi(/puss/pusses/whatever the plural form is!!!).

Could you imagine MakiKai getting transferred onto a tamagochi? ...No, I really couldn't. Call it my bad experience with Tamagochis (they always died overnight, even when I did take good care of them during the day), but I'm just so used to seeing those single lookup pictures of my pets and forming their personalities around those. Actually seeing the little pixelized creature pacing back and forth inside the little screen and having to feed it and give it a shower and clean up after it is just... wrong. I suppose I could get used to it in time, but not happily. Neopets = pets + users + imagination.

I would get the virtual pet if the Krawk version was blue. I like blue Krawks. ^_^ Still, I wonder what that thing could do? I doubt that thing would entertain me for more than a few days, and then I'd return to my normal pets.
I got a white Kougra plushie for christmas, and a cute notebook, that was pretty much about it. I'd get a plushie if I thought it was cute, but not to idily just buy it...

When the Neopets merchandise first started coming out, I went to Limited Too just to check it out but I was rather put off by the exorbitant prices. I bought a notebook, because it wasn't *that* much and I did need something to scribble notes in (and it had a green lupe on it.) I'd consider getting a plushie if it was one of my pets' species (and preferably color also, but that'll be the day). The only other Neopets merchandise I own now is a doglefox plushie that my friend got me for Christmas. I probably wouldn't be that interested in the Tomagotchi thingie, but again, if it was like one of my pets, there might be an outside chance that I'd be interested in it just for the novelty.

Somehow, I doubt that these pets will actually "die".
But then...we all know how long that Tamagotchi craze lasted...
I own a Babaa plushie just because I had to. It's named Moo. And a charm bracelet with a Babaa on it and a notebook because I needed one anyway. And a Kadoatie plushie because it was on sale. So yes, I'm a bit of a merchandising whore, but I still have the right to rail against excessive merchandising....right? Right?
Just please, please...do not turn Neopets Merchandising to Harry Potter's. I liked the action figures. But the "make your own slime" things are just going way too far...

i'm not particularly fond of neopets merchandise.... hitching a ride to seattle and spending like 10 dollars american on a plushie doesn't seem fun...
i saw those tamogotchis and it kinda confused me. i had a one 6 years ago.. last year i found it, got a battery and then hucked it out the window.. i don't see how they will be any more fun than the other kind... the only difference i see is that there's a toy that you can move to a whole THREE places in the lid like a polly pocket. it seems PRETTY huge if the screen is the same size as the other kind. it would probably cost like 20 dollars. not my cup of tea
hehe.. anyway.. i wouldn't spend my money on this stuff.. for one thing i'd be pretty embarrased to be doing a chem test and then be like WAIT WAIT I HAVE TO FEED MY MUTANT KACHEEK!

I used to LOVE tamagotchis... I had four, I think... But I think it's understandable - I never had a real pet, and when I had one last year I had to give him away And you can't possibly imagine how much I wanted a real pet, so tamagotchis were the only way. That and virtual pets sites. I had a vitualdog, several blitz (or blipz, I don't remember), many Petz and a ton others. That's how I found Neopets, too. But I wouldn't be intrested in those. First, the thing is HUGE, and second, I have Neopets now, why do I need a tamagotchi for? Even if it's a neopets tamagotchi, which kind of seems pointless to me. But I remember I read on the site somewhere that Adam's reason for creating neopets was that he saw a tamagotchi and thought "I can do better". So it IS a bit odd that now that he finally archieved what he wanted, he sells something he once despised. Tsk, tsk, Adam...

Acutaly, Harry is pretty low on the merchandising scale (when you put it into industry proportions). Disney usualy releases around 10,000 items for one movies, Harry has around 2,000. As for the pet things, maybe they just run away. I had a neo-baby thing, forgot about it, and it ran away... It was kind of weird to see a one year old baby crawling away...
