We have Norton Internet Security Pro and we don't have to disable it when we use Neopets.
we also have Zone Alarm Pro and...umm..a few other firewalls...
but I always disable my cookies after I log out of Neopets.

One of my friends through Neopets is very talented at hacking computers. He probably knows my password, but he doesn't want my account... he already has too much freakin' money. My, my. You wouldn't happen to be talking about Seals, now would you?

I don't use firewalls, but that's partially because at my home we use Linux. But that in itself is a security - how many hackers are going to program their hacking probes for Linux?
The school computers (such as the one I'm on now) have plenty of security an occasionally give me issues with logging into Neopets.

The hacker posted in my guild...I'm letting him stay, he barely knows english and his posts are so funny! He says that we're too poor and doesnt want our np. Just warning everyone...after encountering a page like that, change all pwords and delete your cookies asap. Dont go to unfamiliar neo-related pages either.

A cookie is a little datafile that can contain the site name, your username and password, plus the settings for that site and page. For example, Neopets uses that cookie to set up the resolution, whether you like flash or HTML, and can log you in automatically. To delete the cookies: Internet Explorer: Click on "Tools" (top of the page), then click on "Internet Options". Under the "General" tab, you will see a button halfway down that says "delete cookies". That's pretty easy. For Netscape (7.0): Click on "Edit", then "Preferences". Click on "Privacy and Security" to expand the branch. You will see "Cookies". Click on it, and there will be a button that says "Manage Stored Cookies". WHen you click on this, there is an option to remove all cookies. You can also go through and find the Neopets cookies and delete just those, as well. I hope this helps! On my system, I changed the cookie security settings so that the originating site is the ONLY site that can access their cookies, which means only neopets.com can get those cookies, and my system will only accept Neopets cookies from Neopets. My system will tell me it anyone else tries to access those cookies that dson't beling to them, and then I will take appropriate action

I only have one about 'temporary Internet files' halfway down the page, and I don't think they're the same thing...or are they?

Click on "Temporary Internet Files", and you will find the "Delete Cookies" in that. I have IE6, so it displays it right there.

All right, thankies I had been clicking the wrong button in the 'Temporary Internet Files' thingie. I've found the screen where it has a bunch of files that all have 'cookie:blahblahblah' on them (so I'm assuming they're cookies ) Deleting them couldn't possibly have any negative effect on my computer, could it?

Not only does Neopets use cookies to do auto-logins, but it also uses cookies to determine you are "thegreatneopiankazz" as opppsed to "barho54353070" - if you shut off all cookies completely, you won't be able to stayed logged in, every page will just lead you to another login prompt.

I have the tepm internet folder as well and i delete it about each time i log on, but i don't think its the same as cookies. To delete cookies, i first
1) go to My Computer and then go to the C:
2)From C: , i go to Windows and the folder Cookies will be in there.
3) I go to the Edit option and choose Select all, then i go to File and i choose the delete button.
I delete my cookies every week or so mainly because its really troublesome retyping all my passwords on my accounts over the web
