Before, I thought that we might be able to get away with Neopets that were combinations of various parts from different species of Neopets as long as they weren't technically hybrids (in other words, not the result of two different species *cough*mating*cough). Now I'm beginning to doubt that even that would be accepted, so I thought I'd go ahead and ask. Would a Neopet who used to be a normal, single species and was changed by the lab ray into something that is an amalgamation of various species (for instance, Korbat wings, lupe tail, elephante nose, etc.) be unacceptable?

Not sure, but I know Kiddo's having problems with her character being a hybrid of differnt pets and owner so I wouldn't really recommend it.

I definitely doubt anything involving a hybrid would be allowed into the Times, especially after the whole issue with Dark Flame.
I think this goes back to the "no mating" rule. They don't want any references whatsoever. At least, that's my opinion.

I hope they take what I said into consideration.. They had better. *shakes fist* Maybe Darrel could talk some sense into whoever thought up all these rules...

I don't like it any more than you do, but it's one of the many challenges we're faced with as NT writers. Will these limits ever be lifted? Probably not. But we can hope, and ask, and think wishfully. Unfortunately, there's a point where good writing that stirs emotions can't be written (that sounded weird) and I think we may be reaching it. **heavy sigh**

I'm going to put my l33t wr1t1ng sk1lls to use and send TNT a letter/essay myself... I highly highly doubt it'll change anything but at least I'll feel better once I get my 2 np in.

I know I'm going to have to take this out if I ever want it published, but... I don't want to edit it out.

I had a hybrid in one of my stories once. I'll quote it.
But that was before Issue 41.

Sorry... but Dark Flame has something of that nature - a hybrid from magic. Still got rejected. I'm thinking they're not allowing any hybrids, period. I e-mailed Felicia asking about that so we'll see when she e-mails me back...

Ahh, that's such a shame if there can't be any hybrids whatsoever. ;_; But can't be helped I suppose.

Well, I know one thing--they're sure squashing any kind of creative inspiration out of me. Just hearing about all the stories recently that have been rejected for stupid reasons--Earth references, hybrids, technology, etc.--makes me want to hit something. Hard. And very un-creatively. My poor little story was rejected because it was based on a premesis that several authors have used before: Neopets going to Earth/humans coming to Neopia. I know it's not Feli's fault at all, either, which is why I sympathized with what Wolf wrote. It's the stinky paranoid legal-minded people who are afraid of getting a letter from some parent saying that her precious child now knows what a hybrid is, and it's all their fault. For goodness's sake, go show them a mule at a petting zoo! That's a hybrid; horrible, isn't it?
And I'm getting no help from the support staff, either; I sent a protest about all the limitations that have been put on the NT, and I got a one-line response asking me for information I had already given. I haven't gotten an answer to that yet. I give it till Monday before I write again.

I already read that somewhere, don't remember where, I think it was in an editorial but I'm not sure, it was quite a long time ago.. Anyway, here is what it said(aproximately) :
So according to that, we shouldn't have restriction in the story, since it doesn't aply in any way with the real neopets world. *is a master in using people's word against them*
