So according to that, we shouldn't have restriction in the story, since it doesn't aply in any way with the real neopets world. *is a master in using people's word against them* Yes, but they still need to keep it G rated as to go with the flow of their site (no mother wants their kid to sit there reading about now happycutebabyneo bashes qtiepie_82733987's head in with an axe and how their brains splatter all over the slow)...and also I think someone mentioned that Donna and Adam wanted to keep Neopia in a certian kind of light so that may be it. Also remeber that a lot of the people who read the NT really think that this is canon information. Though it says that in the editorial, people don't read it every week and they surley forget things after a while...so the restrictions ARE a bit needed. What would be nice is a bit of an update on the guidelines fo rthey've seemed to change a bit from the last time we were clafied on them and up till now.

I've decided to send them a little letter just stating my opinion... I understand their reasoning but I think they're ruining a very good thing.
Except I get an error message when I use the auto-submit form they have under the "Contact Us!" link. Arrrgh.... this is a consipiracy I say!

Only a stupid person would think that when I say "No restriction" I mean "No restriction at all"!!

We made a choice when we wrote the very content of the Neopets site- you realize, of course, that that's what NT people do. We have instant gratification, but the price for it is getting harder. Allow me to demonstrate. Terrifying villain, eh? That's what one of the lengtheist and best scenes in Qarzina Rising (working title) would look like if put through ALL the limitations. (I exaggerate slightly- it's only about five lines long but still a bit scary). But on the flip side... "Listen to the COULDN'Ts, child, listen to the DON'Ts; listen to the MUSTN'Ts, the IMPOSSIBLEs, the WON'Ts; listen to the CANNOTs, and then listen close to me- anything can happen, child, anything can be." --Shel Silverstein

Also remeber that a lot of the people who read the NT really think that this is canon information. Though it says that in the editorial, people don't read it every week and they surley forget things after a while...so the restrictions ARE a bit needed. Well, here's an idea: Put that disclaimer on every page of the NT, every issue. Would that eliminate the need for some of these restrictions? One of my guesses as to why these new rules are being put in place is because they want to get a more unified vision of what Neopia is like as they get ready to put it in other formats than just the virtual world (i.e. TV, videogames, movies, etc.) But while they do that, they're hurting part of what has made the site so popular-- the imagination that the players get to put into the world. Anyway, yeah, after seeing that Dark Flame couldn't get in b/c of Kiddo's character, I figured my idea wouldn't fly either, which is why I asked. But I would like to get an answer from a staff member, if possible, just to be sure. I think writing letters to the team is a great idea, and maybe this is one case where a petition might actually do some good too. Heck, they gave the EMSers their board back for some reason, didn't they? If not, I feel some of my desire to write for the NT dampened-- but not extinguished. I'm a stubborn, stubborn person, and Mr. Silverstein has an eloquent point. P.S. Felicia and Darrel, please don't take any of the complaints on this thread to heart. We know you're only doing your jobs, and that you've gone above and beyond those jobs many times in all you've done for us. Thank you.

Yes, petitioning is a wonderful idea! Maybe I can use part of Celestilla's page to host it--heck, it already has one petition on it! But really, venting to each other won't do much good. We've got to voice our complaints, or the staff will never know we have any. As I said, I've already written once, but I'm off to send another letter since I got no response today.

What?! No hybrids! My pet, TeeruTwitch is a hybrid. I did that so I could teach people a valuable lesson about discrimination against others and why it's wrong. Well, that's a right shot in the foot.

There's millions of hybrids, no one I've ever seen discriminates against them though... Well.. Except this one girl, but she's a complete and total n00b about it so it's not like her opinion matters.

I completely and totally agree with everything already said on this board.
Just like to say one thing: This is the first time I've heard that Kiddo's character was rejected because of her Essence thing. That is totally and completely stupid.
