The Scrac that Smiles Back, Dju, and 3 more like this

Alright, I know I said I'd wait a bit more for this but I actually have managed to hash out the game mechanics a bit more with the help of Avery, who has also agreed to help me goderate this beast. Tiger, Celestial, and Gelquie, you guys all offered up your assistance tentatively, so this is your chance to decide if you'd rather play or help as a goderator. I don't want to deny anybody the chance to play if they'd rather, so I won't in the least be offended if you all want to play the game as a PC- speaking of which, those mechanics.
If you didn't see it already, the game would be played in the format of a city populated by superheroes who have all over the years become players in a huge reality show, where superheroism is rewarded with points that lead to a monetary reward at the end of the season. So most if not all the heroes are more interested in the money and fame than in actually hero-ing. Things become complicated, however, when a cohesive, well organized group of enemies attacks the city, taking the disorganized and self-interested heroes off guard. Originally I had concepted an alien invasion being the plot of the game, but after June Scarlet made a very good point about how to incorporate the alien characters into the roleplay when everyone will know exactly who they are, I've decided to tweak this and make it a teamed up gang of supervillains instead. They can be campy and all over the place in the city and it won't be as confusing and plot-holey.
So, that's the plot- what are the game mechanics? Similar to Mafia and Medieval the main focus will be on roleplay, with a prompt at the start of each ingame day to set up the scenario based on what happened in the previous round. Behind the scenes the villians and the heroes will be competing for points, and whichever side has the most points at the end of the game wins. However, the heroes are also competing against each other, meaning that the individual hero with the most points will win the game overall if the hero side wins. The heroes can undermine each other if they so desire, to better their own chances of winning, though this also means less overall hero points to pit against the villains. Self-interest versus selflessness- where will you stand?
The game would be set up on a system of missions, a set for the villains and a set for the heroes. Only the villains can see their own missions, but the hero missions will display publicly and each round a mission can be claimed and completed by one of the hero characters. (Some missions will be partner or team missions that must be done collaboratively with other players. These missions will be easier on individuals to finish, but worth less points for each individual as the points are split amongst the team members.) To complete the mission you will be assigned certain tasks along the lines of color clash; making roleplay posts that involve certain elements, writing a poem, writing a short vignette or drawing a picture (picture missions will always have a vignette option for non-artists) and so on. So for example, if there is a mission that involves the villains blowing up a dam, you might be asked to write a short story or draw a picture of your hero character saving the people in the path of the oncoming water. Which missions are completed and how far the heroes and villains get down certain quest chains will determine the path of the game's plot.
The villains will all be together on a team of four, each member with their own assigned role to be determined. The heroes won't be assigned roles, and instead will be divided into one of three "classes." The classes are as follows;
These are heroes along the lines of Superman, Captain America, Spiderman, or Wolverine. Very powerful, very popular with the viewing public. In the context of the reality show, they are generally the most likely to win the season, though of course this isn't always the case.
These are heroes such as Ironman, Batman, Blue Beetle, or Green Arrow. They don't actually have superpowers, instead relying on cleverness, training, and gadgets to win the day. They are fan favorites with certain viewers, and generally second most likely to win the show.
These are heroes like the Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Mr. Strange, or Daredevil. They have superpowers, but those powers are a lot less flashy than the public prefers and in general they're not all that popular. The occasional dark horse might win the show, but this isn't common.
Certain missions will have bonuses in the form of handicaps for certain classes- for example a mission with a roleplay requirement might have a lower post minimum for an All Star, or a high-level mission with an art requirement might allow a Tech Hero to do flats and not shade the image. Team missions will often require teaming with someone in a different class than you, or demand at least one member of the team be a particular class.
So that's what I've determined so far! Given all that, what I need from you guys is to know if you would participate in this even- which you can answer on the poll above- and when you think I should hold it. I'm between doing it this summer or doing it in the fall. So tentatively either in July or in September. Post below to let me know what you'd prefer! The voting is now closed, thanks everybody for the feedback!
Thanks again for the support guys!
